As you can see, Diesel didn't quite confirm that the writers he met with have formally signed on, but he does give a "shout-out" to Lindsey Beer, Geneva Roberston-Dworet, and Nicole Perlman – three of the most notable female writers in Hollywood at the moment.

Perlman wrote earlier drafts of Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor, and has a story credit on Captain Marvel. Beer's credits include the upcoming films Chaos Walking (the Doug Liman YA joint that also counts Charlie Kaufman – of all people – as a screenwriter) and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot (yes, there's another one). Robertson-Dworet's credits include Tomb Raider and Captain Marvel. So that's a pretty killer trio! It's unclear exactly which female cast members will return for the Fast spinoff, but Michelle Rodriguez is a pretty safe bet, and I gotta assume that at least a couple of new actors will be added to the mix.

Wow. It's almost like studios haven't got original ideas anymore. Oceans 8, that Ghostbusters reboot, the rumoured all-female Marvel film, and now a F&F all-female film. I'm all for equality, but this just isn't needed, and is (seemingly) all for the wrong reasons.

Next thing you know we'll have an all-female Expendables film, followed by a PoTD film with an all female crew, and then some Western where the female must save the men.

I'd bring back Letty, Ramsey, Monica and Suki from the F&F series plus Hattie and M from the Hobbs spinoff. Cipher would be the villain and I'd cast Lucy Liu as her enforcer. I'm curious to see what Universal comes up with.
