Cat Power - Naked If I Want To - I've never heard that, but I saw her do "War Pigs" on Austin City Limits with The Flaming Lips. The Flaming Lips were PERFECT, it only started to suck balls when she stepped up to the mic.

Cat Power is an awkward performer but in my opinion that's just part of her charm. I've seen her live twice and there's really too much raw talent in that woman for me to be annoyed by her little screw-ups.

Yeah, it's a horrible version. I saw a live video of them doing it. In my opinion, Smashing Pumpkins are one of those bands that really can't be covered well.

The first time i heard that song is when Eddie Gurraro died. They had a video of his highlights and they had that song playing. I had tears, i'm not gonna lie.

He said that it pissed him off because the song is supposed to be about drugs and Johnny made it about growing old. I think he was just a sore NIN fan who didn't want to admit that Johnny actually put more emotion into the song than Trent did. I find the musical side of the original boring and plodding too. I feel Cash's version has a wonderful and haunting progression similar to The Beatles' "Day In The Life" in some respects.

Definitely. It resonates more with Cash because he'd had the same bouts with drugs, but also was confronting his mortality.

Plus, Cash's tone is the same monotone vocal in every song, but that's a much better preference to the whispered 'bawling' on Reznor's original. I actually like a lot of NIN stuff too, but I'll admit that the cover was better.
