I thaught i do a poll on fantasy movies but i figured Lord Of The Rings is possibly one of the best fantasy movies ever made. So i will exclude the rings trilogy and poll the favorite Rings fantasy movie besides Rings. This won't be easy for pleasing some and many consider differant things as fantasy. That is why like always i put the other selection so to get an indviduals opinion on the matter. So please be kind with your replies if i missed a favorite of yours.
Do as always give me a few moments to post the poll.

No Adventures of the Baron Munchausen so this poll fails:down

I like Conan the Barbarian, Ladyhawke, the Pirate of the Caribbean movies and Willow.

Star Wars is sci-fi no matter how much Lucas or Star wars fans want to label it as a Fantasy Films. As badly as you wish to believe it Star Wars belongs to movies such as Dune, Men In Black, Star Trek, Tron and Star Man. Sad but true. Fantasy is magic swords and kings not Ship sized moons that can blow up other worlds. While i like Star Wars and i did consider is it as Fantasy but i figure no for Fantasy is more like Aslan coming back after the table cracked. Fantasy is when Mad Martigan kills Kael for killing Eric. Sorry if i missed this one but Fantasy is The house landing on the wicked witch in Oz.

As much (and as often:o) as I disagree with people who try to label Star Wars fantasy rather than sci-fi, it does have many, many fantasy elements to it. The dictionary classifies fantasy as "Fiction characterized by highly fanciful or supernatural elements." With the Force, and prophecies, and all of that intertwined into Star Wars, I'd definitely consider it to have "supernatural elements". Personally, I'd say Star Wars is Science Fantasy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fantasy

In any case, my answer (besides Star Wars and Wizard of Oz:o) would be either Harry Potter and the Chamber Of Secrets or Prisoner Of Azkaban.

Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. The Direction and the look of the film helped move Harry Potter out of the "average looking fantasy film with good special effects" area.

PIRATES................conan,

.....harry....blah blah blah

I was wondering this is Dune science fiction or fantasy fiction. I know its considered a well mini series tv movie but i kinda saw it as more of a bridge between fantasy and science fiction then Star Wars.

Can we split the difference and say that Star Wars is Science-Fantasy?

Welll both Pirates movies are on my list right after Rings. I love Willow too. Then Harry, Nevereding story and of cousre Star Wars.
I think Fantasy is my favorite genre because there is so much that can be done with it.

Can it be argued that the Terminator films are "fantasy"?

You wouldn't consider the lightsaber a "magic sword"? Not to mention everything that encompasses the Jedi and Sith? Luke being visited by a guy who was dematerialized in the first movie and came back as a glowing apparition? The way I see it, there are things in Star Trek that now exist in today's scientific world. When someone comes up with a sword made out of light, and I start talking to blue dead guys, we'll talk about Star Wars as Science Fiction.

I don't count a lot of the modern films as fantasy in a classical sense.

My faves from your list:

Beastmaster
Conan
Jason & the Argonauts
Clash of the Titans.

I also like:

The Golden Voyage of Sinbad
The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad

Rocky.

Maybe if we stop posting in his threads, he'd stop making these stupid polls?

I didn't know Rings was my favorite fantasy movie.

Star Wars
Pirates

I think you could say they are. Any story that is about something that doesn't exist or can't happen is a fantasy. Even most horror movies could be categorized as fantasy. Or comedies about something like time traveling. Back to the Future, for example. It's like music; there are a lot of different kinds of hard rock music for exmple

I hate people who complain about polls, but man, you're missing four of the best:

In the Company of Wolves
Princess Bride
The Wizard of Oz
Excalibur

Seriously man, you've got Red Sonja and Beastmaster in there and not at least two of the above?

DRAGONSLAYER IS TOTALLY UNDERRATED AS F***.

Go, and watch it.
And see that the effects are amazing for the time, the story is awesome, the characters are great, the atmosphere is perfect.

Out of those, Dragonslayer's my favorite.
Hard to believe it stars the dork from Ally McBeal and Numbers.

Yeah I think one of my first exposures to nudity as a child with that girl swimming in the lake.
