Everybody likes Rocket so much... I really loved Rocket in the Abnett & Lanning comics but he felt somewhat different to what Gunn did with him in the films so I'm torn regarding this character in MCU. He was much more kind and friendly (he would certainly not call Groot an "idiot") and less snide in A&L comics. I liked that better.
I loved Nebula in the first film but she somehow didn't feel the same in the second one.
Baby Groot was tooo sugary.
Gamora felt much more I mean
much more awesome in the Abnett & Lanning comics.
Drax is really funny in MCU, I liked him very much in Vol. 2 but again, I'm used to his version in the comics where he's much more fearsome badass. In MCU he feels more like a goofball. Not like someone you'd s**t your pants when you him. Plus his tattoos in films look more like an eczema, but I should be ok with that since I was hospitalized with severe generalised eczema so at least even I got some representation in the super-hero CB movies.

(Yea, it's not that funny when I recall those days...)
Star-Lord too feels more silly than in the comics.
Mantis as a person who sees into the heads of others and their future, etc. is more distant and deliberate rather than fearful, neurotic and startled. I get she was [BLACKOUT]keeping the secret about the whole thing[/BLACKOUT] but she did not feel like the Mantis I know. Plus I just love when she's green. I know it would compete with Gamora's visuals, but that's not the case in the comics since Gamora has more distinct look.
Groot too, like, in the prison Rocket's explaining the plan while Groot just goes and picks the thing, it is Gunn-style funny, but it's kinda stupid.
But Vol. 1 Groot is probably my favorite Guardian.
When I read my thoughts here and think about that, Gunn just made everybody more stupid and funny. I think the much-used "kindergarten humor" is the best way to describe that. I mean, it seems the team works, people love those characters and those films, I'm a fan of them too (to some degree which I discussed in the review thread), but since Abnett's and Lanning's comics is my favorite take on Guardians I like those characters more than their MCU versions. I get every author treats the material he's working with differently, but I miss some characteristics of Abnett's Guardians. But I like some things Gunn did with them too.
Overall the best GotG comics character is Cosmo, he's my fave Marvel character.

In MCU? Yea, I think it's old Groot.
