I believe that sometimes the way a movie ends can make all the difference in the world. A great ending can sometimes elevate a mediocre film or just put that one last emotional punctuation on an already amazing film. Endings are incredibly important because that will determine your initial gut reaction as you leave the theater. So, with that said what are your favorite superhero movie endings and why? Are there movies that you thought weren't that good but still had you smiling as you left the theater because the ending nailed it? Here's my top 3:

1) Man of Steel: "Welcome to the Planet, Clark." "Happy to be here, Lois." I personally loved MoS and this ending just plain made me smile as Cavill smiles at Amy Adams as the Hans Zimmer score swells in the background. Great way to end the first film.

2) The Dark Knight Rises: A controversial ending, I know. However, I simply loved it. To me, it wasn't a perfect film and wasn't on TDK's level and it did drag at times, but I felt like this ending just nailed it for me and was a perfect way to cap off arguably the best superhero trilogy we've had thus far. From the moment Alfred sees Bruce at the cafe to when John Blake discovers the cave and once again Hans Zimmer sets the mood perfectly as his score swells triumphantly in the background.

3) The Avengers: "How do you know they will come back, sir?" "Because, we'll need them to." Personally, I was a little disappointed with Avengers, I wanted a little more out of the film and didn't feel it was paced the right way but I'd be lying if I didn't say this movie's ending got me smiling gleefully. The montage of the different Avengers going their separate ways onto their own adventures to final image of Stark Tower with the "A" in front of it as Alan Silvestri's theme takes us to credits...simply well done.

So what are yours, guys?

Final swing scenes in Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Amazing Spider-Man.

"He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector.....a Dark Knight"

"I am Iron Man."

This. It established that this was going to be a very different type of franchise from your typical superhero film, and was a breath of fresh air at a time when the genre was becoming stale.

1. TDKR: A well-earned retirement for Bruce.

2. Iron Man: As others have said, a breath of fresh air when the secret identity angle began to grow stale.

Days of Future Past.

Specifically, the happy mansion sequence. Especially, after The Last Stand. If we never see the original cast again, I couldn't have asked for a better ending for them. It really was perfect.

Also X2, A huge homage to The Wrath of Khan.

1. Iron Man

2. Captain America: The First Avenger("I had a date.")

3. Batman Begins

There are actually a lot of good endings, now that I think about it. X2 has a good one, Superman 1 & 2 I love how they end, Batman'89 has a good ending, The Avengers has a great ending, etc.

Superman
Superman II
Batman Begins
X-Men
X-2

Most of the films have good endings.I think the top 3 were exceptional. The first two X-Films were good in that I remember not being able to wait for the next film.I wished they could've started the next movie after the credits finished!

No words needed, just the image.

Superman The Movie - Christopher Reeve smiling in outerspace then flying away

Blade - Interrupts Russian vampire

Days of Future Past - Happy ending, X3 erased.

Captain America First Avenger - Breaks out of SHIELD's fake 40's hospital into modern Times Square

This is probably purely for nostalgic reasons but the ending to Batman Returns ALWAYS has a fond place in my heart. Bruce driving away in his limo with Alfred and looking up at the snowy night sky as they pan to the Bat signal and Catwoman's silhouette with Danny Eflman's ICONIC score in the background. Sigh....man I wish Burton made one more Batman film. :(

That had the potential to be one of my favorite trilogies.

Oh well...We always have the future to enjoy. :woot:

If you mean the last 1/3 of a movie then asm2. Both the goblin fight and the electro fight are 2 of the top 5 fights in a sm movie yet and the goblin fight is very intise and the music is great to.

Superman The Movie

ASM2 had the potential to be a good ending in concept. It had Spidey going into battle against one of his foes, and was an ending similar to the Incredibles. However, it was the execution of it and the way Rhino was done that took away from it. But imagine if the movie were better overall, and then to cap it off, we had a proper Rhino and we saw Spidey launching himself towards him and it ended like that. How much better would that have been?
