Some of them work, some of them are just horrible. I remember one of the better ones was for Sega Genesis back in the day, where they just blatantly said they were better than Nintendo, and even name dropped them.

Genesis does...what Nintendon't. It didn't get me to buy one, but I give them kudos for having balls like that.

Also, while it was an obvious attempt to be hip, PS1's URNOTE campaign was interesting.

Massive attack use= good

I hate the wii adverts trying to be all "family" like with some swedish male or female model carved by a god playing with the wii pad.

Halo 3's was arguably the best yet.

I loved the videos with HALO3, but the IloveBees.com thing with HALO2 as better.

I loved Halo 3's. It felt really epic. The Vice City ads weren't bad either.

That was a fantastic ad.

I say pretty much everything that Microsoft has advertised has been spot on. Gears of War comes to mind. I bought that game pretty much off of that ad, being as i didnt really know about the game until then. Halo 3's ad campaign was also brilliant.

Link to the Gears of War ad i was talking about:

Is there anyone on here that was born before 1987?

The only ones that are most memorable to me are the Super Smash Bros and the Battletanx commercials..

Yeah, i loved the Gears commercial. It definetly grabbed your attention. I remember if someone was talking to me and that commercial ran, they would automatically shut up and watch it.

I agree 100%. That and Assassins Creed really are top class videogame advertising, which is usually woefully neglected, especially here in England.

I havn't seen the Halo3 ads yet though.

The current Sony one for the PS3 is really good

wow, you guys are using fairly modern advertising campaigns...

At the height of its prime, nintendo whipped this out, The best gaming ad of all time

as for the modern ones, nothing really touches sonic in super smash brawl

I remember being really hyped for the sega cd when it came out but apart from that meh...

i'll have to come back to this...

on a side note, all the banned ones are pretty damn good just because they are banned. An example is like this UK x.box advert, which is probably the best GAMING advert in general and hits home so many points without trying to be overly clever,

I swear the first time i saw this ad, i stopped what i was doing and started playing some video games

I always liked that SMB 3 commerical, where everyone is wearing a colored shirt shouting "Mario" then they pan out and formed Mario's face.

^Because you knew Mario was the ****. You didn't even have to show gameplay, you just knew it was Mario 3.

The best videogame marketing campaign was the initial one for Mario 3, The Wizard.

The Mario 3 one was good
The Wind Waker ad
The Metroid Fusion one was cool
The Japanese ad for Biohazard 2 with Brad Renfro as Leon Kennedy was a cool ad... too bad it wasn't shown in America.

The Japanese RE2 ones, definetly...directed by Romero no less...and of course the Assassins Creed ones with Tear Drop...brilliant use of that song :o

Gears Of War was fantastic - that imagery with Mad World playing in the background was very effective. I also like the Halo 3 campaign.

I forgot all about that, that movie was pretty much just a "nintendo movie"; but then again Nintendo was pretty much IT when it came to video games at that time.

The We Love Bees
The 168 thing for X-Box 360
Super Mario 3
Dreamcast "Its Thinking" commercials, when it'd go inside the Dreamcast, and have a bunch of characters interacting
Anything Mortal Kombat, I'll eat up
and those Crash Bandicoot commercials, with the guy in the suit, those were always pretty funny
