Which is your favourite and why?

For obvious reasons I left out Julie Madison from Batman & Robin.

I'd say Selina in Returns, because for me personally it captured one of the key elements I like about the classic Batman/Catwoman dynamic, which is the basic ongoing tragedy of it: no matter how much they may legitimately care for each other or how close to each they get (including knowing each other's true identities), in the end Selina can't stop being Catwoman any more than Bruce can stop being Batman.

Andrea Beaumont is my absolute favorite, but if we are talking about live-action only then Selina Kyle (Batman Returns).

I'll even the poll out by going with TDKR Selina although I do understand why many would go with Michelle Pfieffer.

This was hard for me, but I ultimately had to vote for Chase.

I have always had a soft spot for her despite her annoying fangirl crush on Batman. Maybe because she's normal without being pathetic like Vicki was.

It was a real toss up between her and Michelle's Selina Kyle; but for me Returns Catwoman is so much more than Batman's lady.

Third would be Anne's Selina but Batman spent half the movie going after Miranda so it's hard to believe at the end he switches to Selina.

For me I went with Katie Holmes' Rachel Dawes in Batman Begins...now her love interest of Rachel is definitely underrated by all the Batman fans even though Katie Holmes was perfect in the role she basically showed that she could act but also because of the fact that she wasn't your typical damsel in distress either

1. Pfeiffer Selina
2. Chase Meridian
3. Vicki Vale

Michelle Pfeiffer-Selina Kyle

I want a comic book mini series set in that Burton universe. Which takes place after Returns.

Selina in TDKR by far.

If animated movies were included then Andrea Beaumont takes the win.

Only had to get to the second name on the list to click on Selina Kyle. No point in reading any further.

1. Selina Kyle/Catwoman (TDKR). The biggest issue with the character is simply that she wasn't introduced sooner. Hathaway's Selina is a faithful and badass adaptation of the character; she's clearly been raised in the streets, she toes the line between hero and villain and her chemistry with Bruce Wayne is great. The costume (really just the mask portion) leaves something to be desired but overall she's fantastic.

2. Selina Kyle/Catwoman (BR): While I'll concede that Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman's persona is superior to Hathaway's, I hated the neurotic, stereotypical nerd character she played at the beginning of the film and then the "romance" between her and Bruce feels too quick and forced. And as I've said before, I hate how Tim Burton felt the need to drastically change her origin. It's not only thumbing its nose at the source material, it's sexist to think that a woman couldn't go toe to toe with Batman unless she has supernatural powers. I also don't care for using superpowered characters in a standalone Batman universe. If you're including superpowered heroes like Superman and building a DC cinematic universe, that's fine. But there was no indication that any heroes other than Batman existed, and adding superpowers into the equation killed the reality of the story.

3. Rachel Dawes: I'm not really a fan of this character (Holmes or Gyllenhaal); it always bothered me that Nolan didn't just use a love interest from the comics or move on from Rachel after Batman Begins and introduce Selina in TDK. However, she's easily more tolerable than any of the other love interests from the Burton and Schumacher films and she's better than Talia in TDKR.

4. Miranda Tate/Talia: This one doesn't quite feel like a love interest, though she really should. In the comics, Talia is second only to Selina in terms of Batman love interests. And while they do hook up in the film, it's all part of an elaborate plot by Talia to destroy Batman. While I'm glad they included her at all, it also feels like a missed opportunity. Had they removed the Rachel character from Batman Begins entirely, they could have perhaps made room for Talia there. And she could have come back in TDKR to ultimately betray him over the death of her father, creating a more interesting arc for the character.

5. Vicki Vale: I feel like Vicki might have been a better character if Sean Young had played her (which was originally the plan) and if they let her do more than scream for 90% of her scenes. Basinger has never been a very convincing actress (yes, I know she won an Oscar, but I'm pretty sure the entire Academy was smoking crack that year).

6. Dr. Chase Meridian: Nicole Kidman has proven herself to be a great actress over the years, but in Batman Forever, she comes off like a pornstar. Seriously, every time Batman shows up, she acts like she just wants to rip her clothes off. Nevermind that she's also apparently the world's worst psychiatrist, given that she falls in love with her patient. And don't even get me started on that ridiculous name they gave her.

7. Julie Madison: Who? Seriously, I've only seen Batman & Robin once, but I didn't even realize they said her character's name in the film.

Selina in Batman Returns is the best.

Of these, Anne Hathaway. But I agree that the real best one was Andrea Beaumont.

She didn't have any super powers. You assume she did. I don't recall her gaining any super strength, super speed, a healing factor, etc. Just b/c she survived the fall after being pushed from a high rise didn't mean she was superhuman. I don't believe she gain nine lives after regaining consciousness. It was all in her head. Most of the movie when she survives death it had to do with luck (particularly the fall into the dump truck filled with kitty litter and the fall into the glass house) but in her fractured mind she lost another one of her nine lives.

I figured Michelle Pfeiffer would lead in the poll but I'm happy to see Anne Hathaway holding her own.

That's how I took it as well.

This guy gets it.

It's why BR Bruce/Selina is superior to TDKR Bruce/Selina, IMO.

She electrocuted herself in the end by putting a taser in her MOUTH and blowing up a generator. There's no way anyone could survive that. And yet she did. She also was revived from the dead by cats, which imbued her with Olympic-level fighting abilities. I think that all counts as superpowers.

I took it that she was knocked out cold and the cats tickling her nose woke her up.

It was mentioned in the movie she has taken some self defense classes. That was the movie's explanation for where she got her fighting skills. People should't take the movie that seriously.
All kinds of characters become 5th degree black belts all of a sudden when it fits the plot. Where did Selina in TDKR get her awesome fighting skills? She was just a cat burglar.

And we don't know that she really survived. We have never seen that Catwoman since. By the time the Catwoman movie rolled around someone else was Catwoman.
The rooftop seen might have been just something Bruce Wayne imagined in his grief. How did the tattered costume suddenly become brand new again?

Tickling her nose? They were chewing her fingers.

If she took self defense classes that gave her fighting skills good enough to go toe to toe with Batman, why didn't she kick the crap out of that clown that grabbed her during the first Red Triangle gang attack? Why did she fold like a lawn chair scared out of her wits when Shreck backed her into a corner when she discovered his secret illegal files?

For someone who took self defense classes good enough to kick Batman's ass, she sure didn't show these skills when she really needed them pre Catwoman transformation. Furthermore will someone please quote the line from the movie where it states she took self defense classes because I don't recall it.

Where did Selina in TDKR get her awesome fighting skills? She was just a cat burglar.

Now why would you need that spelled out to you? She was a street tough type of cat burglar who obviously learned to defend herself somewhere along the way.

She was not some whiter than white meek secretary that lived in a pink apartment full of stuffed toys, not living the kind of lifestyle where you need to know how to defend yourself.

And we don't know that she really survived. We have never seen that Catwoman since. By the time the Catwoman movie rolled around someone else was Catwoman.

We clearly see Catwoman at the end of the movie, and not from Bruce Wayne's point of view;

As for your question about how did her previously tattered costume become mended, do you even want a serious answer to that? She made it using a simple sewing machine. What makes you think she couldn't mend it the same way?

I'm a sucker for Catwoman-esque relationships so I went with TDKR's because Anne Hathaway had a lot of fun in the role and I was happy to see a continuity where they did end up together.

There's no way that Harvey Dent could walk around with his burns like everything was normal in The Dark Knight, and that's supposed to be aiming for a higher level of realism. Tim Burton's world was more surreal, dreamlike. This is a movie where the Penguin had an army of actual penguins.
