I'm back on the Hype, since I was busy writing my Light Overcomes Darkness series and I just finished book 2 of it.

As I was writing the story, I wondered about some of the best friendships in books and literature.

The main heroes and heroines always have those friends, who would be supportive no matter what they go through on their adventures.

What are your favourite friendships in books and literature? :woot:

My Favourites:

1. Sophie Mercer and Jenna Talbot (Hex Hall)

2. Jon Snow and Samwell Tarly (A Song Of Ice and Fire)

3. Harry Potter and Ron Weasley (Harry Potter)

4. Grubbs Grady and Bill-E Spleen (Demonata Series)

5. Kaitlyn Fairchild and Anna Whiteraven (Dark Visions Trilogy)

6. Cassie Blake and Diana Mead (The Secret Circle)

7. Bran Stark and Jojen Reed (A Song of Ice and Fire)

8. Celaena Sardothien and Nehemia Ytger (Throne Of Glass Series)

9. Percy Jackson and Grover Underwood (Percy Jackson and The Olympians)

10. Bella Swan and Alice Cullen (The Twilight Saga)

It's all I can think of so far.

Surely you're going to add Guts and Puck, the premier Bromance of any dark fantasy work.

And one other. I don't know if you'd consider Glokta, Severard and Frost buddies...

Frog and Toad.
Gentle and Pie, Imajica.

Sydney Sage and Eddie Castille from Vampire Academy/Bloodlines

it was so nice to see a guy/girl friendship (in a YA novel no less) that was just a genuine, carinng friendship with no romantic undertones.

on that note, Lissa and Rose's friendship throughout Vampire Academy/Bloodlines is great as well.

and can't forget Leisl Meminger and Rudy Steiner from The Book Thief. lawd

After a recent binge,

Corum Jhaelen Irsei and Jhary-a-Conel

really enjoyed the friendship between Elias and Helene in An Ember in the Ashes

Any great female friendships in books, as I am curious.

there is a great friendship between Laia and Izzi in An Ember in the Ashes.

Also between Karou and Zuzana in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy

Tyrion and Bronn from A Song Of Ice and Fire. I like the two together, as they bounce off each other.

Dante and Virgil, The Divine Comedy

Tom, Huck, and Jim, Huckleberry Finn

Elizabeth and Charlotte, Pride and Prejudice

Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, Little Women

Becky and Sara, A Little Princess

Colin and Mary, The Secret Garden

Anne and Diana, Anne of Green Gables

The platonic friendship between Emma and Blackie in Barbara Taylor Bradford's Emma Harte series has always stuck in my mind.

Arianne Martell and her Seven cusaders in the Queenmaker plot.

I like the comardery between Alysanne Mormont and Asha Greyjoy in ADWD, and I hope to see more of them in the future.

L.J Smith knows how to write female friendships, as the ones in The Forbidden Game and in the Night World series inspired me to write such friendships in my own projects.

all of the Dregs in the Six of Crows series
