Who was in your opinion the best MCU villain? :woot:

Loki of course. Tom Hiddleston made that character so interesting and cool.

Loki is the best, obviously, but I'm going to put my vote for Aldrich Killian. More than anybody else, he embraces the supervillain ethos. He was powerful, smart, charismatic, and grandiose with just the right flavoring of pettiness. The setting could use more villains like him.

I almost voted for Killian, because narratively I think he's probably the most interesting and well executed MCU villains (and easily the most creatively adapted character in the MCU), but if I'm being totally honest I do find Loki much more entertaining, so he gets my vote.

Killian is definitely one of the best so far. He reminded me of a Bond type villain. Red Skull is in my top 3.

Justin Hammer: I still dont consider him a traditional "villain" as we know them (see Vanko), he was more of a goofy Tony wannabe more than anything. He was pretty funny for most of the movie. The whole gun sales demo is a favorite scene. It reminded me of Easy Andy in Taxi Driver.

A movie villain's motivation is to 1) kill the hero 2) do something destructive/deadly usually. Hammers motivation was to be rich and replace Tony Stark in weapons manufacturing.

^^ Good call! Arnim Zola should be in that list for sure. Anyone who helps HYDRA infiltrate SHIELD and has an evil ranting AI of himself in a computer = VILLAIN.

-Loki, easily Loki. He's the most complex, entertaining, multi-faceted, and likeable villain that the MCU has. He's also the only one that's actually gotten character development.

-Alexander Pierce is second. One, Robert Redford was fantastic in the role and I loved just how human Pierce was. He wasn't some over the top bad guy, he was a man who actually believed that what he was doing was ultimately for the good of the world.

-I found Killian to be a rather weak villain myself. Guy Pearce was quite good acting-wise, but the character was really uninteresting to me. It's one of the reasons why I wish that Ben Kingsley had actually been the main villain. He was so much more menacing and interesting than Killian was.

Loki is the best MCU villain. Would have been the best Marvel film villain in general too if it wasn't for Magneto.

Red Skull and Alexander Pierce are both pretty solid villains.

The Iron Man movies without a doubt have the weakest villains. Killian and Stane weren't really all that impressive, and there was so much lost potential with Vanko.

Thus far, Loki is for sure. The way they engineered him throughout this MCU thus far has just been brilliant. I am looking forward to Thor 3 and what they do with the Odin/LokiasOdin revelation from the end of TWD. Could be epic

Vanko was a good villain for like the first half of the movie. Then they stuck him in a factory for most of the second half and barely showed him. Instead, they focused in Hammer the annoying doofus, which was a big mistake.

Can we please get a really good non-Loki villain for Thor 3, pretty please? Amora the Enchantress, she has the potential to be a great villainess if done right.

Loki is easily my favorite, with Alexander Pierce being a close second.

The Winter Soldier. Although many of you wouldn't call him a villain and he isn't even in the poll, it was really the first time in the MCU I felt the heroes were in complete danger.

He was menacing threat, but he's not actually a villain. He's a mind-controlled drone.

That's kind of a narrow definition of the word, don't you think?

No, there's a difference between a "villain" and an "antagonist." And antagonist is simply someone who opposes the main character, but an antagonist doesn't have to be evil. There are stories where the protagonist is actually evil, and thus the people opposing him are actually the good guys, and also the antagonists. A villain is someone who has malevolent or evil intention on at least SOME level. WS didn't. He was an antagonist, not a villain. He was a puppet doing whatever he was told by his masters, he had no free will of his own.

Loki, largely because he's the only one so far who has had any sort of game plan and goal in mind.

The rest have pretty much been, "I'm bad, I want X to die so I can achieve a vague goal"

I voted for Iron Monger. I admit that Loki is the Best MCU Villain so far but Jeff Bridges was just great as Stane.

My top 5 favorite villain performances in the MCU are:

1) Tom Hiddleston as Loki
2) Ben Kingsley as the public persona of the Mandarin
3) Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull
4) Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier while brainwashed
5) Jeff Bridges as the Iron Monger

Emil Blonsky/Abomination

I have to say Arnim Zola. So far he's the most brilliant mind in the MCU. Took one of the most powerful artifacts in the universe, weaponized and mass produced it. Transfered his counsciousness into a computer, effectively becoming immortal. Kept HYDRA alive for decades inside SHIELD itself. Created an algorithm that could analyze a person's past and present to determine if they can become a threat in the future. And there's a good chance he's still alive.

Also, Toby Jones is so adorable.
