Favourite movie vs Best movie

I think a lot of us have a favourite movie that isn't necessarily what we would consider the best movie we have seen. For example there are probably a lot of people who might list Spider-Man 2 as their favourite film, but consider the Godfather to be a better one. How does it work out for you?

I know for some of us (myself included), will consider the same film for both categories. Mine is Fellowship of the Ring. No film has ever come close to capturing the magic that movie did when I first saw it. Going in knowing nothing about the story, right from that opening prologue I was hooked. Attempting to look at it objectively and on technical aspects I still say its the best IMO. If I had to pick another film though, looking at it on a technical level for best it would probably be Schindler's List.

A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of my favorite films, but is it no where shape or form regarded as a cinematic masterpiece lol.

Or An American Werewolf in London.

The Burbs. I think it's one of the best comedies ever made, and nobody ever brings it up, or even agrees that it's a great movie. So I guess it's just one of my favorites?

I don't really have a "Best" movie. My top movies are just ones that really made me enjoy them, in one way or another. Some through pure human drama and fantastic acting, and some through great action and laugh-out-loud moments.

Yes, it's hilarious. I love the part where they visit the Klopeks.

The best is hard to say. 2001 , Seven Samurai , In the Mood for Love. Might be one of these three.

My favorite is Big Trouble in Little China.
