So one of the things that I've always liked about Arrow is the stunts and fight sequences. In fact, it's probably one of the reasons why I like Arrow more than The Flash, even though The Flash has been nothing short of amazing since it started. I'm a sucker for shows that have great stunt work and fight scenes. I'm just curious, what are some of your favourite stunt or fight sequences that have been done on the show? It could be anything from a parkour scene, to a fight scene or even a training/workout scene.

Mine? I always liked the parkour scene from episode 18 of Season 1 (Salvation), where Oliver is parkour-ing across the city and tracking down the villain of the week with Felicity giving him directions from the Foundry. Well shot and so exciting. The soundtrack also made it even more awesome. The fact that Stephen actually practises parkour in real life is also great.

The season 1 finale sequence:

It's intense, fast-paced, the soundtrack is wonderful; it's bloody cinematic! This is a scene any movie director should be proud of, IMO.

Also, Team Arrow vs. Slade Wilson:

This, too, is an intense and fast-paced scene. Not as good as the S1 finale, but it was the first Arrow fight scene I had the pleasure of watching, and it was what got me interested in watching the show. There are many others, I am sure, that warrant mentioning–but these two are my favorites. But bear in mind I haven't seen S3 yet so some of those fight scenes may yet become a favorite.

Honorable mention would be Oliver vs. Nyssa in S2.

Ra's Al Ghul vs Oliver in S3. Oliver vs Nyssa in S2. And the action sequence from last nights episode "Public Enemy" where Oliver, Roy, and Laurel are all on the run from the SCPD. That action scene had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Great choices. Loved the part where Oliver was fighting Slade with the sticks in the Team Arrow vs Slade fight. Short but sweet sequence.

Yeah, the SCPD chase from Public Enemy was awesome. Reminded me very much of the Over The Edge episode in the Batman TAS.

Another one I really like is Oliver vs Mr Blank from ep 20 of Season 1. I don't know why, but I think the fight scenes look twice as cool when they fight in street clothes. I also love that exchange between the two.

"What happened to you on that island?"

"You're about to find out."

Also, who could forget this?

I have to say I think the action in general has got worse since the first season. The action and especially the fight scenes in season 1 always impressed me, but apart from the odd exception that hasn't been the case in season 2 and so far of 3.

I found Arrow vs Deathstroke a little disappointing and Arrow vs Ra's was good but season 1 still has the best fight scenes for me.

Yeah, I really agree with that. The fights feel so choreographed now, and they pretty much all look the same.

Wow, thought would be the only one, but yeah the quality of fight scenes have definitely taken a dip for me, there were so many great ones in the first season, but in the following seasons there have only been 1 or 2 good ones.

I loved all the Oliver vs Malcolm fights and the fights between Oliver and Nyssa have been good too. The fight between Nyssa, Oliver and Malcolm in "The Magician" was exciting also. I should also add the punching glove arrow. That was cool.

You're not alone :yay: Yeah, I also think that they're quite bad at hiding the stunt doubles during the fights nowadays. My favourite fight is still from season one where Malcom, in a business suit, was beating the crap out of Arrow :woot:

I forgot to say in my last post that I absolutely loved the fight between Ra's and Oliver. At the end there genuinely was a moment where I thought Oliver was going to comeback and win but in the end Ra's was too good and too experienced.

Yeah that was a good one, Oliver fighting in normal clothes was always good as well. And yeah the stunt doubles are far too obvious now but never were in season 1.

It was good but the stunt double issue took me out of it a lot.

I honestly did not notice it during the first time of watching, I was too engrossed in the fight. I think the fight very much delivered the message that it intended to, that Ra's is a much greater threat and is much more dangerous than anything that he has faced yet.

That it did. We've seen Oliver get his ass kicked before, but never this badly. Ra's pretty much made Oliver look like a fool in that fight.

With regards to the stunt doubles, the only time where I felt that they were obvious was during the Ra's vs Oliver fight and also the Oliver and Thea vs Slade fight in The Return. Other than those two fights, were there any others where the stunt doubles were obvious?

Pretty much any time Thea fights or trains, it's pretty easy to spot the stunt double. Sometimes with Roy too.

Season one had the best action imo. This season it has been looking a little rehearsed or something. :( My favorite action scene was in season one ( I think ), when Arrow kills a ton of bad guys in some hallway.

The fight scenes in the Arrow/Flash crossover were great. I enjoyed seeing Roy/Ollie vs Captain Boomerang.

Stephen doing a lot of his own stuff really helps the fight scenes. You can tell its him most of the time and its very well hidden when it isn't him. They have a lot more characters doing fight scenes now, and a lot of their doubles move differently/have different body types and it stands out that they're using a stunt double.

Wow. There's been a lot.

Arrow v. Slade I loved the parallel fighting in the flashback and present day. Well done and a cool way to show both narratives leading up to their respective showdowns. Also you see how Oliver has grown by how the two fights end. Very effective.

I know I'm in the minority, but I loved the motorcycle archery joust between Arrow and Komodo. I really want Komodo to return.

I loved the tension in the Oliver v. Ras fight even though Ras handed Oliver his lunch. It was like watching your favorite basketball team try but not be able to climb out of the hole in the tourney. (Looking at you, UK)

I loved Arrow/Roy's/Diggle/ARGUS/Flash v. Captain Boomerang. Flat out awesome.

Others come to mind like Arrow v. Mr. Blank; Arrow v. Bronze Tiger with Brother Blood's voiceover about Oliver Queen not caring about the city; and Sarah Canary v. Huntress (although Sarah should've been able to make short work of her.

A huge part of what made that fight exciting for me was the build-up. Ever since we saw the Deathstroke mask on Lian Yu in the very first episode of Arrow, we knew that one day, those two were going to come to blows and that Oliver was very likely going to be the one to take out Deathstroke's eye. And when they finally fought, both in the flashback and in the present day, it was like we finally got the payoff from an arc that had two seasons' worth of build-up.

Arrow vs slade's goons while he is saving thea. Amazing fight sequence
