Comics FCBD Swing Shift Preview!

I hate it when they separate the 2-page spreads like that!:cmad:

Nonetheless, this looks awesome!

This takes place after Back In Black right?

That or its just not in continiuty. After all its just supposed to be a free one shot to pull new readers in (not saying Im not gonna get it :cwink:).

That preview was pointless IMO. All it did was show the "style" of the book. But those pages put Peter in a situation he's been in thousands and thousands of times before. I'd think a preview would give you a hint of what the story is about. Or why bother?

That preview was pointless IMO.

From a story perspective maybe, but for those keen to see what the interiors from the new artist will be like it's pretty useful.

Personally, I thought the point was to entertain, so I thought it proved it's pojnt quite well:cwink:

Seriously, I like the style which Slott uses for Peter's dialogue as well as the old inner monologue, ans it looks like we'll get our money's worth for this one regardless.

Looking forward to picking this one up.

Good to see the supporting cast is back.

Questions:
1)Why can Peter roam free as a vigilante? Isn't it against the law? (he mentions that "now that the superheroes are al organized" I assumed this book takes place after Civil War)
2)Why doesn't JJ acknowledge that Spidey is Peter?
3)Didn't May get shot?
4)Why the red and blues? Isn't it back in black?

Like I said its a one shot story thats probably not in continuity, just to pull new readers in.

Well it's free so everyone will likely get.Nevertheless I'm really looking forward to it.Dan Slott is my second Favorite Writer and Jimenez is a great artist.I would love for this to be the new Amazing team.

"a tale that may just come back to haunt Spidey in the coming months!"

Sounds in-continuity to me.

It's probably an "untold" tale, that will have ramifications in the present-day books.

I enjoyed the preview also.
It would be great if Slott/Jimenez ends up being the new ASM team.
In any case it will probably be a good idea to buy a few issues of this one just to be on the safe side,
in case it ends up hot.

I love the art- the smooth lines and detailed buildings, seems quite fresh after Garney and Deodato Jr. Colours are really nice and bright too. Finally I can start buying ASM again. Il prob get all of OMD too since it will be JMS’ last plus it runs through all the books.

This does take place after Civil War.

But obviously May lives to see another Birthday and "One More Day" does indeed feature a memory-wipe of global proportions.

Nothing I didn't expect to happen.

And I know i'm in the minority here. But i'm actually hoping that Dan Slott isn't the new writer on ASM.

You're definitely in the minority on that one.

I'm sincerely hoping that Slott is given ASM along with Jiminez, and that maybe we can get back to having Spidey in CHARACTER-DRIVEN stories, as opposed to "Shocking Events", which have gotten incredibly tiresome after the past, oh, 3 years full of them.

Is it just me, or does that art scream "90's Spider-Man"? I swear, my first impression upon seeing that was a flashback to the art from the 90's.
Looks pretty interesting, though. The characterization reminds me of what I used to enjoy about the comics.

id like dan slott too. the only thing iv actually read of his is the spider-man/human torch mini and it was amazing. i actually just read it, and man i havent read a book that was that fun in a long time. nailed the characters, spider-man was hilarious in it

I know, I know.

I'm looking forward to getting back to character-driven stories too. But I think Dan Slott would be better suited as Bendis' replacement on Ultimate Spider-man, should he ever leave.

Okay. Although i'm still not particularly over-whelmed by what i've read so far from that preview. I've decided to give Slott a chance. As the only stuff written by him that i've ever read are a half dozen issues of She-Hulk. I'm going to try and hunt down that Spider-man/Human Torch mini of his.

I can say a lot of faults about JMS, but he really fleshed out some characters in ASM during his 7 years stint. Of course most of it was up to Sins Past, when he probably jumped the shark. I'll say his run with JRjr was one of the bests in Spider-Man's history.

However my biggest fault with JMS is that the supporting cast was just left behind. Even if I love the way he writes both MJ and Aunt May, where are all their friends? Flash? Betty? Liz? The Daily Bugle staff?

But it will be a fresh change once we can go back to street fighting Spidey when a new creative team takes the helm. Too much magic stuff for my taste.

This better all be true. The CW was total and complete crap, and we all need to forget it (including the heroes). Let's just tell everybody that Cap is backpacking across Europe indefinitely.

I really enjoyed Civil War and appreciated that fact that it took the character to places I'd never thought he'd go. It's given the writers (except PAD so far) a shot in the arm as far as what to do with Spidey.
