Every state in the US may as well be its own little country. It's the cause of and the solution to all our problems at once.

No. Not at all.

What about all of the minorities living in Confederate states?

Do they have to move since their state would go back to the 1800s in terms of bigotry? Or, basically, be forced to relocate because they'd come under attack due to how they were born?

There are - for example - gay and black people living in Mississippi; your plan would toss them to the wolves.

Regarding the specific government regulations each state has is what I was referring to. It's an exaggeration.

The Washington Post - Saudis are said to have lain in wait for Jamal Khashoggi

Before Khashoggi’s disappearance, U.S. intelligence intercepted communications of Saudi officials discussing a plan to capture him, according to a person familiar with the information. The Saudis wanted to lure Khashoggi back to Saudi Arabia and lay hands on him there, this person said. It was not clear whether the Saudis intended to arrest and interrogate Khashoggi or to kill him, or if the United States warned Khashoggi that he was a target, this person said.

New York Times - Trump Says Saudi Prince Again Denies Knowledge of Khashoggi’s Fate

Innocent...just like Putin and Kavanaugh and Trump.

Middle East Eye - Jamal Khashoggi's killing took seven minutes, Turkish source tells MEE

It took seven minutes for Jamal Khashoggi to die, a Turkish source who has listened in full to an audio recording of the Saudi journalist's last moments told Middle East Eye.

Khashoggi was dragged from the Consul General’s office at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and onto the table of his study next door, the Turkish source said.

Horrendous screams were then heard by a witness downstairs, the source said.

"The consul himself was taken out of the room. There was no attempt to interrogate him. They had come to kill him,” the source told MEE.

The screaming stopped when Khashoggi - who was last seen entering the Saudi consulate on 2 October - was injected with an as yet unknown substance.

Salah Muhammad al-Tubaigy, who has been identified as the head of forensic evidence in the Saudi general security department, was one of the 15-member squad who arrived in Ankara earlier that day on a private jet.

Tubaigy began to cut Khashoggi’s body up on a table in the study while he was still alive, the Turkish source said.

The killing took seven minutes, the source said.

As he started to dismember the body, Tubaigy put on earphones and listened to music. He advised other members of the squad to do the same.

“When I do this job, I listen to music. You should do [that] too,” Tubaigy was recorded as saying, the source told MEE.

A three-minute version of the audio tape has been given to Turkish newspaper Sabah, but they have yet to release it.

Why are the only people Trump bends over backwards to believe dictators with rampant human rights abuses?

Oh man! That sounds freaking awful! I wonder how they got this recording. My only thought is the guy was smart enough to be suspicious and made a call before entering the compound.

In other news.. as a resident Nevadan, it's big news today that brothel owner Dennis Hoff died. I just talked to my newsroom friends in Nevada, and they told me that it happened at a party/campaign rally last night, in which Grover Norquest and Sheriff Joe Arpaio were there. Gotta love the hypocrisy on that one. Cocaine, alcohol, and viagra can be a dangerous mix.

There's been two reports out about how Turkey know what happened in there.... no idea if either are true. one is that Turkey were spying on the Saudi's, the other is that the poor dude's iWatch recorded everything to his phone outside.

So Russia and the Saudi's?

The issue is the country is so divided and so fractured that people in states like that will be discriminated against, exploited and hurt either way. It really is hard to see a positive path forward for America.

Exactly. Leaving LGBT kids to fend for themselves in some kind of independent Bible Belt confederacy would practically amount to a death sentence.

Not to mention its total BS coming from the Republicans. They rah rah all about states rights, while simultaneously trying to stop California government actions cause their liberal.

They think everyone is going to go along with Trump. I think the "failed interrogation" was the plan before Trump fell for their lie hook, line, and sinker.

I don’t think Trump actually believes that.

He’s sucking up to the Saudis and protecting them because he’s been in their pocket for decades. Like he’s been in Russian oligarchs’ pockets for decades. He’s a prostitute. He’s for sale to whoever throws money at him.

Not important to the conversation, but just realized a mistake in what I typed earlier. I said my Grandpa married a Japanese woman. I meant my great uncle. Makes a difference, lol.

One of the lowest points of his Presidency -- Trump slinging around MORE schoolyard bullying by calling Stormy Daniels "Horseface." You know, the woman he cheated on with while Melania was nursing their newborn son, but lied about it and the $130K in hush money he paid her right before the election.

Jesus.

I really want someone to punch Trump in the face, preferably a woman.

All of this really shows just how vile so many people in this country are. I had little faith in humanity before; I have none now.

FBI looking at Manhattan district attorney's office over potential undue influence in handling of cases: sources - NY Daily News

FBI agents are probing the Manhattan district attorney’s office over its handling of high-profile cases that were dropped once lawyers for the well-connected subjects made donations, the Daily News has learned.

In another case, the DA also failed to bring criminal charges against two of President Trump’s children in an alleged real estate scam.

Vance’s office cleared daughter Ivanka Trump and son Donald Trump Jr., who were being looked at for allegedly defrauding Trump SoHo investors and would-be buyers by lying about the number of condos that had been sold.

In 2012, Vance met with an attorney for the pair, Marc Kasowitz, who had previously given him $25,000. An additional $32,000 was donated after the office declined to prosecute Ivanka and Trump Jr.

Doesn't matter if she is white....he tried to insult her by calling her a historic Native American name. That's racist.

She's claiming being a minority on official documents. Which the Cherokee, yep, see as racist.

Trump's as bad. That's not to say she gets a pass, life isn't this one-or-all situation you're making it out to be. It's clearly possible to take issue with the "Pocahontas!" crap while still seeing she's done the wrong thing.

Also, clearly, if you're a Democrat you should be expecting more of the Warren's of the world than...Donald friggin' Trump.

As for the Daniels/Avenatti stuff, absolutely ****ing hilarious. So not only does her claim get slapped down by a Californian judge of all things, but she's made to pay Trump's legal fees to boot. :funny: Avenatti's not having a good month here.

You miss the point. Yes, it has now been proven that she is not as Native American blooded as she previously implied....but that is another matter. What I kept referencing was this.....Donald Trump used a historic Native American's name in an attempt to insult a woman. He considered the historic female Native American (whose reputation among people is good) as akin to trash and so used it to equate another woman as trash like too. That is being racist.

This Saudi situation is really horrifying.

One of the worst weeks in his God-awful Presidency.

November 6 cannot come fast enough, even though I already voted.
