Sorry if I'm the one that's misinformed, but aren't parts of this article blatantly wrong?

I'm not familiar with the refusal to allow Batwoman and Renee Montoya to marry, but as far as DC not taking steps for diversity/inclusion goes, that's just not the case.

Wally West's mixed race for example. Also Alan Scott's homosexuality. The difference from what Marvel's doing is that they're taking previously straight-white-males and making them more diverse by changing attributes about them. In a way, that's even more bold than taking a previously established character and slapping a more iconic title on them.

Also, DC created Bunker - a gay teenager - to join the Teen Titans. They made him pretty likable and gave him fairly interesting powers. Same goes for the inclusion of Solstice and Skitter in the New 52 TT (I believe Solstice was said to be of South Asian descent and Skitter appears to be black). Those are three brand new faces that break the straight, cisgendered Caucasian male thing that the author accuses DC of holding onto.

Sorry if this felt ranty, but I was taken aback by this and its apparent falsehood. Does the author have a point?

I had to stop reading the article because of how ridiculous and, in some ways, inaccurate it was. It was either written by someone paid by Marvel or, more likely, someone who has never actually read comics. The fact that they inaccurately explained the Batwoman marriage "scandal" shows that they were either very misinformed or just trying to get people worked up over an issue that doesn't exist (the gay Batwoman marriage, not diversity in comics).

I grew up a Marvel fanboy, and I like both about equally now (I actually read more Marvel books at this point), but let's not pretend that Marvel is doing so much "better" with this right now, especially considering both companies make such a huge media event out of it every time they make a "progressive" move.

Yeah, I think that "article" was a bit unfair to DC. I mean, if Marvel is so great, where is The Black Panther or Black Widow movie? We should have at least had a Captain Marvel (with Carol Danvers) movie announcement by now.
