Would she like some sort of spiritual-based book?

A devotional, perhaps? A CD with all of her favorite songs on it?

A nice Bible cover?

You say she doesn't like jewelry, but would it be different if you got her a delicate little cross on a chain?

Maybe stop by a Christian bookstore and browse around.

I was given a Bible with my name engraved on the front for a birthday once, and I have it still. I don't know how picky she is about it, but I think it would be sweet if you picked it out and added a pretty cover like AndThePickles suggested. You know the text version she'd want, I'd assume, so wouldn't you just be picking the color of the cover? Are there many different Bible styles of which I am unaware?

For the record, I asked for a pink Bible with purple lettering (I was 17, okay?) and got crimson with gold instead. Oh well. I still thought it was special! :funny:

Your meeting story is so cute. A little twisted, but sweet! LOL

Get thee to Lush, hombre, amigo, mon ami, oh pal o' mine.

I loooove Lush, but the thing is there are some scents I particularly don't care for. IF he picks the wrong scents, he might be in twubble. :o

Hobb, your meeting story is really sweet :). I know you'll find something special for your wife.

I tend to agree that Lush is a place where you either love a smell, or despise it. However, they've got some pretty great gift baskets. Sephora is another fun place to go. Even if your wife doesn't like makeup, they sell spa sets and such.

Bath and Body Works also has spa sets that are a lot cheaper than both of those stores, depending on your budget.

Victoria's Secret is another great place for gifts. They not only have the sexy stuff, but also really, really comfy but pretty pajamas and robes.

My wife loves Victoria Secrets but hasn't shopped there since having our first daughter. If I do get some pajamas and robes and that type of thing I may pick that place for her.

I also do like the idea of the personalized Bible. There are tons of types but I'm fairly certain she wants a study Bible that's likely NIV (as she struggles with King James). Hmm... those are some good options that I can go with.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. Besides these two there's also a bunch of others mentioned that's kinda got my brain working so you guys have been a big help. It'll be a month or so before I can actually buy anything but I'll let you guys know if I end up going with something you guys helped with :)

Well, you could pick out a nice NIV Study Bible or NIV Life Application Bible for her and tell her that if it's not exactly what she wanted /style color wise that she can take it back and get what she wants. But that you wanted her to have an actual present to open instead of just getting her a gift certificate to the local Family Christian Store (or whatever Christian Bookstore is there). I think she'd appreicate it! And if she decided to pick a different Bible, then afterwards you could have her name imprinted on the cover.

I actually am leaning toward the NIV Life Application Bible. She had one around 10 years ago and loved it but it's since gotten tore up and chewed on between kids, cats, and dogs. My debate, if I go this route, is that she prefers hardcover, which I don't think you can get engraved. But I think the engraving would be what makes it special.

I'm leaning toward the Bible and some pajama and slipper stuff. I just don't know exactly what she's alotting for our spending. She likes to handle the bills and money so it's not like I can slip presents here and there... she'd know.

Kinda annoying really.

Old video but I think it's going viral now via Facebook (this version is even slightly edited for messageboards :funny: ), and it's the awesomest thing I've seen like, ever:

Trying to be pretty (or as the mainstream media wants to define "pretty") hasn't never made me proud or happy. What has made me proud recently is all the stuff that I've accomplished using my innate abilities: finishing my TDK website, trapping the stray cats to be spayed/neutered, fixing paint scratches on my car. All very awesome things, I think, and none involved even thinking of what I'd look like doing those things. :yay:

From a male point of view:

Self-sufficency is the sexiest thing a woman can do besides having good self-confidence. Looks are fine, but when they fade, you better know how to change a tire.

Does anyone use the Clarasonic skincare system? I am debating on investing in it, but before spending that much $$ I'd really prefer to hear some opinions!

Hmm, I've never even heard of that, Pickles. It seems to have gotten good reviews on Amazon, though.

Amazon reviews have never steered me wrong.

It IS really pricey though! What sort of things do you want it to do with your skin?

Speaking of $$$ treatments, my sister got started on Accutane and it seems to be helping. Well, it's drying her skin out everywhere and her face is smoother and clearer, although there's still some random pimples. She was told it would get worse before it got better, but at least there's changes....

Here's some historical testimony from other satisfied customers:

It puts the lotion on it's skin or else it gets the hose again. - Buffalo Bill.

Let them eat cake, personally I plan on spending my budget for bakery on facial scrubs and beautifying myself from the neck upwards. What do you mean "Don't bother." angry horde of French peons with a guillotine? - Marie Antoinette.

Hound, sometimes I think you were sent here just to make me smile.

I ended up buying one; the "Mia" Clarisonic because I travel so much. So far, after only using it for 3 days, it looks like it is going to be WELL worth the money! My skin feels so so smooth, my pores are less clogged, any redness is a little bit reduced, winter flakiness is gone, and most of my little bumps are gone. It also claims to help the effectiveness of the skin products you already use, which makes sense, because it gets your skin SO clean!!! I would recommend one very very much. Spoons made fun of me and asked me why I was carrying around a vibrator for my face :oldrazz:

I went on Accutane in high school...worst decision of my life. It ruiiiined my skin! I went on it for the full recommended cycle and experienced the worst skin of my life while on it, and maybe a month or two of slightly better skin afterwards. There are too many health risks involved, too. With the results I had, I wish I'd never taken it. That being said, it is a miracle drug for a lot of people. I hope your sister continues to get good results on it.

:lmao: I had friends who thought my Sonicare sounded like a vibrator too! Except it really did save me $$$$$$ from having to get crowns...at least for now. :oldrazz:

Glad to hear that the Clarisonic is working out! I guess I have good skin because I don't really have anything to complain about besides having large pores, which you can't really fix anyway. :o I used to have really bad acne in high school, so compared to that, my skin is awesome. :awesome:

Yeah hopefully my sister will be one of those people for which Accutane is a miracle drug. She really has tried everything, and her skin was still very much crap.

Well, the Clarisonic does help minimize pores! :oldrazz: I think that it is a nice thing to ask for as a Christmas present if you want something skincare related.

You can't really change the size of your pores, you can only make them look smaller. For that kind of money, I'd want it to actually shrink them for real. :funny:

What can I say, I'm a tomboy efficiency-queen. When I got my new glasses, the people behind the counter asked if I was interested in contacts. I declined, explaining that I was lazy and wanted to get up and go without having to clean them and/or put them in. :funny:

Besides, I got these and I think the metal cutouts are awesome. :awesome:

Cuuuuute glasses, Anita18!

The time has come, once again, to begin the hunt for holiday party cocktail dresses!!!! :wow:

Supposedly the "simple black dress" is the way to go, but I don't know about you, it's never been my style.

I like things more like:

Tends to go better with my hair colour.
