I want to thank ALL the artists over the years who have posted their work here in fan art - I know over the last year I have not really been around - and that makes me sad. But it has never been about the contests for me, it's all been my motivation to give you artists a place to show your work, to push you to draw everyday... I make part of my living as a working artist for TV & film, and I know how hard it is to be motivated sometimes... It gives me great pride to see all the artists over the years post and improve on their works, that is awesome to see, and I will miss it!

I will still lurk about from time to time, I may even toss up a secret contest, you never know! - Feel free to PM me anytime, I will be watching!

HAVE FUN, and keep the pencil moving...

I also agree that it was great for motivation. I haven't been in the fan art section near as long as the rest of you, but the monthly contests were an awesome motivator. I had gotten out of drawing for a few years, and was getting very rusty. I drew a few things, and noticed the Hype had a fan art section. I decided to scan it in and post it mainly because I'm not big on showing others my art as I get embarrassed, but know the Hype has a cool crowd so it'd be a good place to build up the nerve to do so. However it was ultimately the contests that gave me something to focus on and want to draw more. On top of that, I got to see some really amazing art come from others. Plus, it was fun.

So thanks again Excelsior for your time and effort.

Thanks for the great memories E... there were many fun times in here with Wobbly, Dorky Fresh, Darth Coolius, AntmanX... all those old fan art gurus. Sad to see them fade away.
