I must rewatch the movie, but from my first viewing that's how I got it:

1- Jean/Half-Phoenix weakens Apocalypse from the "inside" (astral plane)... so the display of the "firebird" was just a psychic manifestation.
Anyway, a field of Phoenix energy surrounds Apocalypse and his purple power.
2- Apocalypse's purple shield just vanishes.
3- Magneto kills him with the metal ruins, while Apocalypse's body is getting old.

I don't remember if Storm and Cyclops managed to hurt him. They were just hitting the shield or hitting Apocalypse without the shield?

And is it me, or the first time Cyke uses his beam on the shield, Apocalypse deflects it like a mirror? It splits and goes randomly?

Thank you so much.

Storm takes down the 'shield'. Cyke also hits him after the shield is down I believe.

When did Magneto impale him? After the purple shield is down?

I don't remember the sequence, but it seems to me:

1- Phoenix hits him with the Firebird aura.
2- Storm and Cyclops hit the shield.
3- The shield gradually vanishes.
4- Magneto impales him.
5- His body starts to be atomized by the Phoenix energy.
6- He says the last line and dies.

Do we see the incinerited skeleton at the end? It seems to me we don't.

I would have loved to get this scene more "climatic" and a bit more epic - more music, more energy, more emotion.

Yeah I did like that Storm, Cyclops and Phoenix took him down.
Yeah. :)

When did Magneto impale him? After the purple shield is down?
Correct.

1- Phoenix hits him with the Firebird aura.
2- Storm and Cyclops hit the shield.
3- The shield gradually vanishes.
4- Magneto impales him.
5- His body starts to be atomized by the Phoenix energy.
6- He says the last line and dies.
Note on 3, it is just Storm who takes down the shield, though I do believe Cyke blasts him again after it is down. The rest seems about right.

Shouldn't Storm and Cyclops' powers clash with the Firebird energy, since Phoenix hits him for first?

How could Storm's thunderbolt hit the shield if there's the Firebird energy surrounding it?

Plus, am I correct that Cyclops's beam is "refracted" and spreaded backwords or so when it hits the purple shield for the very first time?

The firebird energy wasn't on the shield, but just on Jean at that point, it didn't touch Apocalypse until after the shield was down and he was impaled etc.

I think he just fell trying to 'control' it.

So how could have the shield collapsed if it was so powerful? Was Jean attacking him on the Astral Plane as well?

Said that, Scott lost his balance at the second hit, but the first hit just split in two and was seemingly refracted.

Jean was with him on the atral plane, both Magneto and Cyclops were hitting him as well. But I think it is when he is about to teleport away that Storm comes in and breaks his protection. Before that he isn't in a purple bubble.

Don't remember that.

Okay.

It seems to me that after Apocalypse says his last line, we don't see his incinerited skeleton or any "final blow". I would have loved that. A final explosion. The film just moves to Xavier recovering and talking with Moira.

Don't remember that.

No, Storm stops him teleporting by surrounding his teleportation bubble with lightning.

jean finally burns him away. he is impaled by magneto but remember his body is healing itself not aging. storm+magneto+cyclopes are hitting him at the same time but he is healing / because of that mutant from the opening of the movie, it's jean that kills him with her final burst of phoenix fire.

as for the shield, it either just storm stopping it or storm + cyclopse.

Yeah, so it was a team effort. I would have preferred more "dramatic" sequences while taking him down, but it's fine anyway. :ilv:

This thread just proves the finale was a big mess >_ < they could have easily had Apocalypse beat everyone down and Phoenix awakens in Jean and have her defeat him. All this CGI crap was poorly executed, I'm sad to say.

Would've loved if the ending was them defeating Apocalypse, and then when the explosion clears it's just Oscar Isaac, and then an x-wing comes flying down and then he flies off and then the star wars music starts playing and that's the end of the movie.

Apocalypse last words were " All has been revealed." Is he talking about the Phoenix force?

probably. it could mean that he finally realizes he is not the most powerful mutant anymore, a god, aka the strong - he is the weak one and he acknowledges it. or, in that moment he realizes that the cleansing of the earth, the destruction of humans, the domination of mutants will be done by the strongest, but it will not be him, but jean.

I was wondering about that line too because when he took Xavier and Havok went after him, he said that all will be revealed. But I guess that revelation ended up being different.

I wouldn't say he acknowledges he is the weak one, if it wasn't for Pheonix they wouldn't have beaten him, but more that he is not the most powerful mutant like he thought he was.

That would have been worse. The X-Men are supposed to be about teamwork. Besides if Jean could solo Apoc then they would either have to severely limit her power in the next film or go Dark Phoenix which it is too soon for.

As it is they may very well have to have her taken out early in the next movie if they don't cut her power back somewhat.

thank you,
the comment u responded too goes against everything X-men and is also a big cliche

One last question:

I'm a bit disappointed that the Phoenix incinerating Apocalypse looked so anti-climatic and QUICK as scene.

I mean:

Apocalypse just says "All is revealed" and then?
I don't remember seeing him finally exploding or melting in a spectacular and climatic/dramatic way.
It felt a bit rushed IMHO.

Or I don't remember it very well???
