Firefly

At least you are now a fan, better late than never :D

Indeed. And it is time to convert some more then.

...Holy CRAP! I never even thought about that! No wonder he can bench more than Jayne and fight better than the entire crew.

Yeah. It's an idea I like to subscribe to myself.

I think he was supposed to be something special related to the Alliance, but Joss didn't know what and thought he'd have a long time to explore it and the religious aspects of the show (one of the few points he didn't explore enough). However, when the movie came along I think he came to the decision to leave clues that the Shepard was once an Operative himself and after realizing the wrong-doins of his government (all though not to the extreme that the main Operative found out in the movie) he rejected his life's purpose and found God in its place. Hence, his horror in the pilot to being on a ship with a bunch of bandits and allowing a man to be killed when he swore that would never happen again.

Also, anyone have any guesses (or hopes) that when the movie rights expire next year (and they do in summer 2008) that Sci-fi or the likes might buy the rights from Fox and bring it back. I won't hold my breath but if it happens I'd be VERY HAPPY.

God I hope so. I really really hope so. My only issue is how they would continue with two of their best cast members dead. I mean I'm sure they'd die eventually. This is Whedon we're talking about after all. But with things like Kaylee finally getting together with Simon and all it's like...now what?

Good point. Well I have a feeling you could make the broadcast at the end of Serenity to begin the sparklings of another Civil War and another chance to stand up to the Alliance but it is a slow build and Mal doesn't want to be part of that again. He may have gotten his faith back but he may not be ready to go to another Civil War again. Maybe he can be a smuggler and ship runner in the Confederate sense. At the same time Zoe may develop a death wish.

Also, Simon and River can grow into accustom members of the crew. And knowing Whedon, half the cast still needs to die. So there is enough there for him to go back if he wanted.

Yeah, I'd like Simon and Kayle to take Zoe and Wash's place as the resident couple. That'd be...cute. Maybe Zoe would show some jealousy or resentment and become this dark and suicidal, almost robotic character. Pretty much going back to the way she was during the war. Explore her relationship with Mal as she gets closer to him. Little triangle with her and Inara. Hey, Jayne could be in this war too. That'd rock for a season finale.

I like the ideas of Kaylee and Simon, albeit I don't want to see Mal and Zoe get...involved. Just out of character for the both of their personalities, really.

I know but I'm thinking the feelings are not returned by Mal but in Zoe's case it's sort of a rebound thing she harbors inside. Maybe it was something that has always been there subconsciously that she never acted on.

I'd like her to have some kind of humanity and not just a cold and distant robot. Maybe Mal helps her with her grief and she grows something for him over time...Again, rebound.

...How about the Operative joining the cast? :D Maybe taking Shepard Book's place.

The whole killing Shepard Book thing will probably keep him from ever getting to join the cast. ;) Mal even said he didn't want him anywhere near his ship again at the end of the movie.

Yeah, I know, but I'm thinking some big event would bring him aboard. Don't know what but something.

Well I am on the 5/6 episode its great!
What is it with River, when does she go normal ish lol.
I like Jay is that his name, his great.

Jayne. :) And River never actually goes normal. Her brother helps her for a little while but it doesn't last. Eventually they just deal with it and it's her character.

I don't know about this... I'd like to see the Operative just fade away out of existence. If they were to introduce another character to the crew, I'd like it to be someone completely different from anyone we've seen so far.

Hey, at least I didn't say Early. :D

But hey, look at Spike. Whedon has a habit of bringing over the villains/anti-heroes.

...That just got me thinking...Operative and Zoe...wow...Just started thinking about Spike and Buffy was all.

I watched Out of Gas and Objects In Space last night. Truly amazing episodes. I wanted to watch my 2 favs while I could...gave up dvds for lent. This is gonna be a horrible 40 days.

Yeah those two are up there. So is the pilot (Serenity) and Ariel though.

Jayne, well I just watched the episode where that whole town thinks his a hero, was great lol. Everyone was like him a hero? lol.
So River stays kind of crazy like lol.

I <3 the Operative, but I dunno if I could see it. Plus, IIRC, Spike never actually killed anybody close to Buffy, just menaced at her. The Op was responsible for two.

Anyway, I always assumed that after the final scene between he and Mal, the Operative would do what men do when they "failed entirely as he had" - I assumed that he would throw himself on his sword.

I thought that would have been a cool ending for Serenity, if the Operative got on Serenity and went with them.

The rumors I've heard about Book are that he was once an operative, or he was the General that led the Alliance forces at the battle of Serenity Valley. Either way is cool with me.

I actually think that the Operative has lost his "faith" in honor now (no more killing children or suicide for the "better good").

Instead, I expect him to spend decades wandering the galaxy finding a new purpose. Perhaps a shepard? Because I'm pretty sure he is supposed to be what Shepard was before Shepard converted though.

It was a very good show. Should have lasted longer, but I'm actually satisfied with what we got these days. I'm content with the occasional comics and the possibility of some reunion movies/TV specials a few years down the line these days.

I can see him trying to make it up to them though. Like maybe he does become a Shepard and has a village similar to Book's and Mal and his crew try to help him out against whatever threatens them. They ultimately fail, Mal feels it's something like karma but realizes that doesn't make him much better. This guy has nowhere to go so he lets him aboard. It would be quite some growth in character...I dunno. That's just somthing that came off the top of my head. I just want the cast to go back to 9. :D This guy could probably take on both the roles of Shepard Book and Wash.

...Why the hell does Mal keep getting his ass kicked by evil ninja black guys though? First Early then Operative. I didn't even notice till my friend pointed it out (with his oh so incredible wit) "That's some racist s**t!"...No, you guys don't have to actually answer that.

I see where you're coming from with this. I kind of feel the same way but it's more because I'm fearful what the continuous adventures would be like without Shepard and Wash.
