Firefly's Fillion Moves into Castle

New project for Captain Malcolm Reynolds.

US, April 25, 2008 - ABC seems to like Nathan Fillion. The Firefly veteran is currently on the network via a recurring role on Desperate Housewives, and now he's in negotiations for the lead role in a new ABC pilot, says the Hollywood Reporter.

The project is called Castle, and is a procedural in which Fillion will play a famous mystery novelist who helps the NYPD with their cases. The Reporter notes the project has a comedic tone to it, which should work well for Fillion's talents.

Cool another Fillion project this time lets hope its destined for success, ratings wise that is.

I don't know... Wouldn't that make everything even more complicated at work? I mean, Gates still doesn't know and can't find out or they won't be able to work together anymore, so wouldn't it be very suspicious for them to show up one day and both wearing a wedding ring?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love it if they took the next step with the Caskett-relationship, but a proposal maybe seems a little too soon...

I think Gates already knows, she just doesn't say anything, and at some point I think the relationship is going to go there as Kate needs those reassurances given her past and Castle's history with women, but I actually think she'll turn him down initially, I just think that will be the season ending cliffhanger as Castle is one for grandiose gestures and will jump the gun if he sees Kate drifting from him.

If they do marry then they'll have to either be made an exception to the rule in the NYPD, find a get-out clause in Castle's job description, or Kate could leave and become P.I.'s who still cross paths every week on cases with Espo and Ryan.

Looks like it....

If you like S05 Eps. 21: The Squab and the Quail; this isn't for you. Don't read any further because I'm going to go off on this.

I'm disappointed, and angry. I just need to let loose. That's why I'm doing this. And this is just my opinion.

I thought this Season 5 up to the 20th episode was fairly decent. It look like it was going somewhere, maybe interesting.... until now.

Here it is:

All I have to say of my review of this episode of Castle of S05 Eps: The Squab and the Quail is atrocious. Whoever wrote this and authorized this piece of garbage is an idiot. The creator should be embarrassed and ashamed of himself.

While I was watching this episode, I was thinking to myself, "The creator can't be this stupid letting this crap to go through like this. I'm pretty sure he is smart enough to have something up his sleeve during the episode or at the end to clear up this crap. WOW! Was I wrong about about him? He is STUPID!"

Now, here's the problem. The plot sucks. The characters turned to 180 degrees.

The plot doesn't make since and it's sloppy. A *****e-bag billionaire who only needs Detective Kate Beckett to babysit him because somebody or maybe more than one person is trying to kill him. What? Can he get his own bodyguard/bodyguards to protect him? What makes Beckett so special. She's no Wonder Woman or Terminator. She can't handle it by herself. She needs backup.

Castle: The whole jealous thing with Castle has to go. It's too tiring. It's beyond old. It's been dead for both Castle and Beckett since S2 Eps 14: The Third Man, which I liked.

Kate Beckett: Not only did I dislike her in this episode, I have lost total respect for Beckett. Sure, she have doubts where the relationship might be heading into. If it bothers her that much, why didn't she talk to Castle right before they enter the restaurant early in the episode? All she could have said: "Can we talk about our relationship when we have time? I like to know where it's going?" How hard was that? But no, she doesn't say anything. It just doesn't make sense. So, I'm confused. Does it bother her or not?

I can't believe Beckett could be this stupid and oogling all over this *****e-bag. This *****e-bag wanted one thing. Him having 2 glasses and a bottle of champagne. Gee, wonder what was that for? I doubt this *****e-bag could care less about Beckett. The *****e-bag pops the cork right into his eye or face. She hustles down to get some ice for him. The *****e-bag tells her to drink the champagne and she said no at first because she's on duty then she smiles then she's says "Okay, maybe a sip." Then she starts to open up to him when he's asking her personal questions. She kept smiling away. Really? She just met the *****e-bag less than a day or so. The other thing, Beckett already knew that Castle is jealous. And she kept going on with *****e-bag like she doesn't care about Castle or if Castle didn't exist anymore.

Then Beckett tells the *****e-bag she's in relationship with Castle. The *****e-bag doesn't care. He walks toward her and she lets this *****e-bag get that close to her and she closes her eyes and he ends up kissing her. WHAT?! Again. REALLY? She barely knows this *****e-bag and she kiss the *****e-bag for a fraction of a second to a second. REALLY? Castle couldn't even get that close to her that quick. It took Castle 4 years to get to her.

I would have respected Beckett if she put her hand or hands out in front of her as he was walking toward her and she said: "Back off! I'm doing my job. I'm here just to babysit you and find out who wants to kill you. I told you I'm in a relationship. If you come any closer, I'm going to punch you." Then have the *****e-bag come closer. Beckett decks him. As the *****e-bag falls to the floor, have a bullet pass by his head. Pretty much the same result. The *****e-bag is alive but with bruised face or bruised eye. Much more better storyline than this piece of crap. I would have liked her more if she did that.

She also didn't defend Castle when the *****e-bag was talking about him and also calling Castle an "idiot". Beckett did absolutely nothing. Way to go, Beckett.

I, also, didn't like the conversation between the *****e-bag and Beckett toward the end of the episode. I just didn't care.

Captain Gates; The captain was really stupid in this episode. She sends Beckett to babysit this *****e-bag with no backup. REALLY?! Again. Beckett is no Wonder Woman. Or no Terminator. How the hell can Beckett babysit this *****e-bag 24 hours a day with no sleep? Again? No backup? It could be days before they catch the person or people who is or are trying to assassinate this *****e-bag. Why not have either Esposito or Ryan back her up? Or both of them? Is it that hard to come up with a better story line?

Martha: Don't get me on her. I could see what she was trying to say. But the way she said it was just way off.

I won't watch this piece of crap again.

After watching this piece of garbage, I said break them up. Beckett and Castle should go in their separate direction. It's just beyond getting old that the fact the "writers" or "creator" can't get their act together and do a better job of handling this crap. If you can't do it right, don't do it at all.

The so called "writers" or "creator" should stop jerking the viewers around and have Beckett and Castle sit down like adults for one episode for maybe five minutes to talk about where their relationship is heading to before this aired or the beginning of this episode. oh, wait a minute! It's not the season finale. We'll probably see them talking about their relationship where it's heading at the last episode. But for some reason, they can't do the talking earlier on this season.

Yeah, I understand your anger with Squab & the Quail... TPTB have a plan in motion and they screwed about with the characters a fair bit to set it in motion...

They did it last season with the secrets and it ended with that scene against Castle's front door.

Going back to last nights episode....
It was a clip show, but a well done one. I did like how they cut the clips together and the final one with Montgomery's voice over was really well done.

So... Gates knew all along eh? ********!! The looks given in 'Target' makes me think she suspected up till then, but that situation joined the dots for her.

truthbuster seriously!? YOu signed up here JUST to post that rant? And it's not even the first website you've posted it is it? I've seen it posted word for word & deleted by moderators elsewhere. Reeks of an ulterior motive to me - what's the deal? Got something against someone who works on the show?

Did someone in the show refuse to work with you on you independent film truthbuster aka "hyper"?

I understand why not everyone was happy with squab but as you said, the episode is part of a 3 episode arc so I'm waiting for the whole thing to play out before making any serious judgments about it, as in previous seasons everything happens for a reason!

Spoiler relating to "Still"
Given it's the first clip show in 5 seasons I have no complaints, given it was an additional episode thrown at the writers at very short notice I'm super impressed. They did a fantastic job.

Well this week's episode was tedious. Behind all the clips was a decent plot, but the clips just dragged it down. Couldn't they figure out a way to have other elements to the story? I always hate clip shows as it feels as if the writer couldn't come up with enough material. I don't mind the odd flashback, but not with the clips going on for ages.

Would've been far more interesting to see Ryan and Espo out in the field trying to find answers, or Castle and Beckett having a more meaningful conversation instead of who liked who first and all these rather trivial things.

I forgot that Julie Gonzalo once featured in Castle. She was there in one of the clips as a blonde in the interrogation room. I don't remember what that was about.

The little castle babies comment? she was Madison Queller, old school friend of Beckett's that owned a fancy resteraunt where the head chef was killed and Beckett was given the case. She was a suspect for a very short amount of time.

The problems with this episode are simple.... a) the shuffle messed up the continuity... And b) Abc gave Castle an extra episode late on in filming the season, think this may have been filmed AFTER the finale was done. I'm not usually a clip show fan, but I thong this was done well, specially with the short amount of time they had to make it.

They finished filming the finale last week - they had 3 days to film 'Still' which I think they did a remarkable job given the time restraints so that was the explanation given by AM as to why the clips were featured.

I thought they did a great job, it was a neat little set up that wasn't as clip heavy as many clip eps and they actually were filtered into the conversation well, while the present day scenes put the ep in the capable hands of Fillion and Stana's chemistry, I loved his line about her ever changing hairstyle. :D

I knew Gates had already figured out they were together.

Manged to withstand the week without Castle and watched them in intended order. I loved being able to watch 2 episodes in a row, reminded me of the days when I played catch up on Season 1 and 2.

I can understand why Castle would start taking Beckett for granted after experiencing 'Still'. I loved both episodes and I thought the clip show was quite well handled.

Role on the season finale. I wouldn't be opposed to it ending with Castle unsure about committing to Beckett and then have the next season (has it been confirmed yet? Best get another season!) start with him taking the dive (again) and proposing.

I think that watching Beckett and Castle preparing for a wedding would make for quite a funny season and I've always though Castle has done comedy well.

Which episode was "Still"? The bomb/ clips episode?

I thought "The Squib and the Quail" might be, but then I realised it said "Squab" and not "Squib". :p

ABC don't give renewals till late on, but I hear that it's 'a sure thing' that a S6 will be given.

'Still' was the flashback bomb episode... 'The Squib & the Quail' was the episode with Mr Fantastic guesting...

I loved 'Still'. Normally I hate clip-episodes, but this one was really well done. I loved Castle's comment on Beckett's hairstyles over the year and I was surprised when Gates told Beckett to "kiss him already". Great episode. :D

I was a little disappointed with 'The Squab and the quail', to be honest. After the ending of 'Still' it felt kinda out of place for Beckett to act a little smitten around Vaughn and eventually let him kiss her before pushing him away. If they wanted to do this, they should've left more time between this episode and 'Still'. Loved Castle playing games, though. :)

Yeah, I can see where this is going. Beckett will consider the job in DC because of her not knowing where her relationship with Castle is going. Castle wants her to stay and will pop the question in the finale. So predictable.
