Firefox drop down bar not working

I use the drop down bar to store the few sites in I visit regularly, all of a sudden they were gone and I can't redo them as the function to store them is no longer working, any ideas?

Did you clear your search history lately?

Nope, the weird thing is that in order to store them you have to put the URL in, click on the star which turns yellow and then press enter, but the star wont go yellow anymore, it just flashes when you click it and turns back to hollow.

yeah its not working for me either but I never use it so I didnt noticed it until now.

I've seen a few people with this issue while I was looking to remedy some other problems. There doesn't seem to be one particular fix, but I've read everything from re-sizing then maximizing the window, reinstalling FF 3.6.8, uninstalling the AVG toolbar or other recent add-ons. FF support doesn't seem to have responded as of yet.
