First car accident...

I was hit on the highway by a semi from my right side while taking turn. It looked like I had enough room and there were cars ahead of me turning, and it looked like he was coming right on through when I thought I was clear but apparently not because I got hit, spun, and knocked into someone else. I'm lucky to be okay, but my car is gone and "unfixable", and I just got it Friday. I still have to pay a $3000 loan for the next 3 years for nothing. That really, really pisses me off. This is a sick feeling.

Like I said though, getting hit by a semi I am lucky to be alive. Just a shoulder scrape from the seatbelt.

I remember when I wrecked my first jeep. It was a week after had it and the insurance put in my name, crappy times. Felt heart broken bc I loved that thing to death.

It could have been alot worse. But things like this happen in life.

I just hope to get a new car soon. I really need it, especially I have things to do at last minute notice sometimes, and I work till midnight usually. It was just way more convienent for everyone that I had this.

1st of all I'm glad you are ok! It could have been a lot worse. I've been in a couple of fender benders but nothing serious. My wife on the other hand has flipped a car and been hit by another driver that split her car in half! This was all by the age of 20 and before I met her!

Yeah, if you guys can, avoid this. Especially if your car is your car. It is a terrible feeling.

I will admit it'd be way worse if I found out I was paralyzed or something.

I've been driving for 6 years and am lucky to have never been in an accident with another car. I don't drive particularly carefully, I just live in a place where there's very little traffic. The only true accident I've ever had was when I was first learning to drive. I was in my mom's car which didn't have power steering, and when I tried to make a right turn I couldn't turn the wheel enough and drove straight up into someone's yard. They weren't home though and I quickly switched seats with my mom and she drove me home. I also broke one of my side-view mirrors off when I was backing out of a carport but I don't count that one lol.

I said something very similar and probably jinxed myself. When I was 18 driving for 2 and a half years. On my way home from my very first trip to a strip club... not cool

I'm 33 and have been driving since I was 17,about a month before or 2 before I turned 18. I've only had 1 car accident that was my fault, I was 19 and rear ended a pickup truck, It was my Dad's car and it was raining and I slid right into him causing about 2K of damage to his front end. Got hit on the passagers side by someone in a parking lot,but I made $1100 on that deal. Then came all my speeding tickets over the years...lol. Looking back I've had some close calls,I don't speed down the highway like I used too,just way too dangerous and everyone is sue happy. Went from a step 22 down to a step 9 in 6 years,and plan on staying that way.

Yell at your insurance company that what they gave you isn't enough,no reason why you shouldn't get more. Don't ever buy a brand new car...ever.

Im glad you're ok man! It could always be worse. I've been through a few accidents. One of them was my fault and involved black ice and my car spinning on the highway eventually falling into the median. Two of them, i wasnt even in the car. Guess i have bad luck.

I've had two accidents that have been my fault, both weren't bad though rear ended people at slow speeds. Once was pulling out of a parking spot at a hospital, had to drop my friend off and when I was leaving, lightly tapped an ambulance in front of me. Got the police to fill out a report and they didn't even believe there was an accident since there was absolutely no damage besides displaced dirt. Problem came a couple weeks later when everyone in the ambluance developed injuries, insurance company paid them off and raised our rates, so my family changes companies.

Other one was in traffic a guy took his foot off the brake seeing the light changed, so I did too and began to hit the gas, he didn't hit the gas though so hit him, couldn't have been going more than 5 miles an hour so no damage again.

Only bad accident I was in was on the highway late at night coming home from the bars (I was DD and sober), I was the fourth car in a four car crash. Heard an accident occur in back of me and then the chain reaction, didn't have anywhere to move due to traffic and just had to let my car get hit. Luckily since I was the last car I didn't have too much damage just a dent in my bumper that made me unable to open the trunk.

Oh yeah, I've been sideswiped twice in the last six months too. Really sucks to go out to your car after not driving it for a week to see a nice fresh dent that makes opening the drivers side door very difficult. Especially the second time after paying $100 go get it fixed less than two months before.

Really sucks to go out to your car after not driving it for a week to see a nice fresh dent that makes opening the drivers side door very difficult. Especially the second time after paying $100 go get it fixed less than two months before.

Wow...I'm glad to hear you're ok webhead. I know you're upset about the loss of your car and having to maintain a loan but...the important thing is that you were not seriously injured!

Yeah, I was so mad. I came outta the house and walked up and down the street. I'm glad I didn't find anyone to be honest because I was so fiiring up, I would have probably done something I'd regret. I know its not worth it but I was so upset.

The whole situation was so sketchy but I got it all straightened out in the long run. When I need info, I'm usually pretty good at getting it and I'm pretty resourceful.

I made out ok at the end but people in this world are just crazy with decisions in life.

Glad you're OK, but I have a question. From what you described, it sounds like the wreck was your fault. Is that correct? If so, paying the $3000 loan is going to be the least of your worries.
