First Dragonball review

"I will wait for 1 more review before im done with this movie."

What a sheep.

89 minutes, PG, terrible book, 1/5 star review, another review on IMDB saying its awful, atrocious buzz around the world.

The odds of this movie being good are tiny, everything gets a bad review but 1 more for me and thatll be it.

If the movie gets more than 2 bad reviews your done with it? Then ****ing be done with it now. You can't handle having your own opinion.

I really don't give a **** about reviews. I'll decide for myself if any movie I see is good. You wanna know why? It's because people have different tastes!

The reviewer admitted to not having read or seen the original.

Yep because it really doesn't look that good to begin with, its incredibly short and just PG, i was hoping for it to surprise and get good reviews as a last chance to be any good but obviously not.

i dont read reviews. but he has a right to read them and then decide if he will watch the movie. after all this is one of the reasons why those guys even writter reviews.

Then why do you post here almost everyday? Why spend so much time on something you don't like?

I swear, everyone here flip flops every day.

Because im interested in it and want it to be good, but it doesn't look like it will be.

he hasn't read the anime or watched the manga....

that at least puts it up by a star and a half

i find it ironic that you called someone a troll not too long ago because calling people names is considered trolling.

everyone who posts here regularly are fans of Dragon Ball and regardless of their opinion about this film, they have a right to post their opinions just like you are.

The reviewer admitted to not having read or seen the original.
which gives us a good indication of non-fans' outlook about this movie.

who is this guy anyway once again there is nothing in this review that you can say from watching a trailer and reading the novel or watching the magna.

Was anyone expecting this film to get good reviews? LOL

It won't get good reviews.

But people have to realize it wouldn't get good reviews if it was 100% faithful either. Dragonball is not sophisticated enough for critics.

i don't know anyone that would want a 100% faithful adaptation. no one on ANY board that i've seen has expressed such an opinion.

they've said that they want Goku to pat everyone's crotch to find out their sex, Roshi to drool over every girl that walks in front of his sunglasses, and Chi Chi to wear a scantily clad outfit with a funny looking helmet even though she's just a little girl?

That and more!

wow...well, if that's indeed true then i stand corrected and they definitely have extreme viewpoints. that being said, no one on THESE forums have ever (to my knowledge) expressed that they wanted a live action movie that's fully faithful to the anime/manga.

True dat, fo sho.

I wouldn't mind it as a fantasy film acted out by real people in a real world environment. I feel thats the problem with adaptations, people feel the original becomes something less in reality or is too silly/outrageous to be considered possible in a real world scenario. Honestly, when I read a comic/manga or see an anime (not so much regular cartoons) I am always curious as to how it would appear with real people, no matter how far out there it may be in a given reality. In the case of DB/DBZ, etc, it is what it is and I wouldn't dare change it simply because I'm adapting it to look "real", because it isn't. I'd rather have a silly, fun film based rather closely on the original material than a slimmed down crappy film with no substance.

Even with what I've seen clip wise so far, I still fear that the closest representation to a 'live action" DB/DBZesque fight we've gotten so far or will ever have was the Neo-Smith fight in Revolutions.

That said I'm all for a full faithful translation to film, same as I was/am for Watchmen (as good as it is, the absence of the squid/real ending and street people, who I feel are absolutely essential to the message of the book, prevents it from being a great translation; but this is another discussion). In the case of DB one needs to just sit back and enjoy it rather than take it too seriously.
