With "Spider-Man 3" on the verge of release and the "Fantastic Four" sequel right behind it this summer, attention is shifting to Marvel's soon-to-shoot comic adaptation of "Iron Man." With the studio staying tight-lipped, the biggest question on geek minds these days is who star Robert Downey Jr. will be battling. So, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we'd like to present Exhibit A. "I play Obadiah Stane," a shockingly bald and bearded Jeff Bridges told MTV News this week, finally revealing his character in the movie. "He's kind of a mentor [to Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man]." According to the classic comics, Stane is a billionaire industrialist who excels at manipulating his opponents and eventually gets close enough to Stark to pull a hostile takeover on his company, Stark International. If director Jon Favreau stays true to the story line, Bridges will eventually build his own Iron Man suit, become Iron Monger — the movie's villain! — and drive Stark to alcoholism in the sequel. "[Stark] is a fella who is the son of a very famous arms dealer," Bridges said of the script. "He gets captured and he builds this incredible suit. ... He's kind of like a superhero, but he's based pretty much on reality." Bald dude Bridges begins shooting soon, alongside Downey, Terrence Howard and Gwyneth Paltrow. Bridges will also be heard — but not seen — in the animated penguin flick "Surf's Up," which opens June 8.

I love Bridges. Flynn. The Dude. Starman... I don't want to learn to hate this guy. But this picture is evidence that an amazing actor is going to make this character unforgettably evil.
