For anyone here who's overweight, do you still get made fun of because of it or people always on your back about losing weight?

the person who makes fun of me most is me.

yay...

my parents are always on my back about losing weight. otherwise i don't think anyone else cares.

When I go through a bulking phase I weigh upwards of 275 pounds and bench almost 400 so the answer is... Not to my face.

Well, in all fairness, overweight individuals should lose weight, for medical reasons.

i could lose about ten pounds but when i see people who are really overweight i think , how can they go on living like that , it must suck.

See I hate it when there are people that are so fat they have to use an electric wheelchair at the store or when they claim "back problems" or some other very related problem but still eat 6 goddamn cheeseburgers at one sitting.

People who are obese to morbidly obese should just fix it. If you have a cold you take cold medicine and you stop playing outside in the snow without gloves. If you're fat as hell stop eating so damn much and start doing a little exercise.

I went to Islands of Adventure yesterday and thought I was gonna die on the Jurassic Park ride, because 3 men in the row my friend and i sat in were so fat, we weren't secured correctly in the ride.:csad:

At 5'7'', my average weight used to be between 140-150. I was moderatly fit and worked out regularly (at my best, i could bench press 180). But during my last year of college, depression hit me hard, and i lost the will to excerise and found myself eatting tons of crappy food. I gained almost 50 pounds, and since then, my ability to lose it has been a miserable roller coaster ride - lose 3 pounds here, gain another 4 there.

No one says anything - I carry the wieght well, i guess. I don't look "fat", just a thicker version of the skinny kid i was - but it bothers ME.

I don't get it now but I got it endlessly as a kid. I was very overweight back then despite being on a carefully regimented diet from my doctor. I have a crappy metabolism and it wasn't until I started a strict exercise program around the age of 12 that I finally got things under control. I got teased alot which resulted in many kids getting thumped. I, of course, got sent to the principle's office.

As 23 years of lifting weights, I'm the size of an NFL lineman now so people that don't know me don't approach me, much less try to make fun of me. However, I've never been able to get much defintion and I think it's likely that a day is going to come in old age when all the dieting and exercising I do isn't going to stop me from getting fat again. The only good thing about that is that I'll probably be too old to care. :woot:

I recently lost about 5 inches off my waistline, have a better defined chin, and have more energy in my daily life. What's the secret to my weight loss? What fabulous method have I tried?

[blackout]Diet and Exercise, b****es. It's the only thing that works.[/blackout].

Society makes this whole thing about accepting your size and everything and it's ok but ultimately it's not.

Now I believe that if you have the self discipline to eat badly and exercise enough to still be healthy, that's fine enough but ultimately if you don't, your intake and exercise should be moderated.

ultimately those with unhealthy diets and self will are a drain on the economic workforce and take up unnecesary billions in health care. Even in private systems, imagine if your healthy heart is donated to a fat lazy bastard after you die only to piss it away, while going through four livers a week on a drinking binge.

DISGUSTING.

The MAIN problem with health at the moment is that it's too far intwined with vanity when it should be completely separated out. With this they need tto show in media glamour in teh west should be associated to skills and not to the weigh you look or your dress size allowing more varied body shapes into the media.

now i'm all for varied body shapes as long as everyone has an acceptable bmi, eat well for the majority of the time and exercise regularly or have active lifestyles.

unfotunately teh corporate food market on its way of making sales and driving down food costs and improving services have shown a yellow brick road of convinience we should all follow and this is definitely the path to the complete shut down of a society.

meh.

BMI doesn't work. A guy like John Cena would be considered obese.

I am fat but haven't been called it since I was a kid.

As for losing weight, I am currentt following manic's weightloss plan and have lost 70ilbs and counting.

 Cleaning up your diet and getting some exercise will work wonders. Most people who really need to do so are too damn lazy and/or gluttonous, though.

And, yes, the BMI is a joke. According to it, I am morbidly obese due to my weight for my height, which is primarily muscle. My doctor is highly entertained by it because I'm obviously not obese in the least.

Anyone can lose weight if they really want to and put in the time and effort to do it. I've got a bunch of friends who were fairly big, but decided to lose the weight, so started exercising and eating better and surprise, surprise lost the weight. I think the biggest problem is people want it to be instantaenous, fatty walks around the block a week and think he/she should now be totally skinny, but it takes a lot longer.

My sister had some extra weight, not obese or anything, she's had four kids and had some extra weight from that. She started running on a treadmill in her basement once or twice a week, I'm a runner too, so encouraged her to sign up for a race with me. Since then, she's run 4-5 8-10k's and now looks and feels better than she has in long time. It took work, but signing up for races a month or two down the road keeps her motivated to continue running. If she can find the time to exercise with four kids anyone can.

Actually, that has no effect on your immune system. It's an old wives tale.

I need to lose about 50 pounds or so, but folks quit ridiculing me for it long ago. Those close to me recognize the situation, as do I, but it hasn't been a topic of debate for a couple of years.

I thought we put you on a diet and workout regimen? Are you slacking? Get your ass into the Fitness thread so we can slap you around! :cmad:

So if you feel you need to lose the weight why don't you start working on that? Is it because no one says anything about it?
