Do you think a 'Flash' movie could be a tentpole film for Warner Bros., such as the 'Batman' and 'Superman' franchises or Sony's 'Spider-Man' franchise?

I think it could be with a talented director, and if he doesn't direct any more 'Spidey' movies, I would like to see Sam Raimi direct a 'Flash' movie.

Flash could definitely be a tentpole movie.

no,I just dont think it has the staying power

I don't know about Spider-Man numbers because it's rare for any movie to post those kind of numbers but I could see 250mil if it's done right. And by "done right" I mean an action packed lighthearted summer movie with interesting characters and actors playing them and a good solid storyline with a good villain (which would fall under interesting characters) and love story.

I don't know a whole lot about the character but he seems more Spidey than Spawn so i could see big things happening.

Superman, Batman, Flash and to a lesser extent Shazam are the only ones I see with 'tentpole' potential.

But whether the version of Flash theyre currently working on will do that....is hard to say. I think they had a better shot at a good film with Goyers approach...

I'm worried it will turn out just like Ghost Rider or Fantastic 4

But I think this film needs a big name current star like Gosling to carry the lead role... in order to be successful.

with the right script and the correct cast this movie could be huge.

I think it's tough to have too many BIG super-hero franchises. Right now, we seem to only really be tolerating three (SM, BB, X-Men) as big tentpole films. Maybe with X-Men sort of being out of the picture for a while, Flash or some other hero could step in.

Flash has every pontential to be a tentpole movie.

one of the lucky things about this franchise is that humour comes naturally to the character, and that will always a big plus in attracting extra patrons.

Goyer was going to direct so I don't think it would have been much better than what we are probably going to get. He is a awful action director...and probably director.

See Blade 3 for details.

SM. Is that Superman or Spiderman? Cuase I can think of at least 5 superheroes that can be big tentpoles:Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Xmen, Hulk....................Ironman, Flash, and Green Lantern(freaking GOLD MINE if done right!!!!) are dark horses but if done right they can be huge! Iron man is looking huge now actually! Wonder Woman.............flop in the making! I know DC fanatics dont' want to hear that but...........it is what it is. Flash............very well could be a flag pole! Actually Flash could be so much more if WB just.....gives him a chance! :cmad:

I was referring to Spiderman. Superman Returns was definitely big, but nowhere near as big as Spidey was/is. And I wouldn't call Hulk a "tentpole" by any stretch of the imagination, but the way it's looking, the new one very well could be. I agree that Flash has a chance, but since he doesn't have the name recognition of a Spiderman or Batman, the movie will need really good word of mouth (a la 300) to achieve tentpole status. Realistically, I see this film falling somewhere in the Fantastic Four category : a fun, accesible action film with good box office performace, but maybe less than stellar critical reception.

Obviously this is all just speculation based on the character and what we know so far about the production. I could be way off base, for sure. It just seems like there are very few superheroes who can get the general moviegoing public real excited. Non-comic fans need some sort of prior exposure to a character (cartoons, older movies, etc.) to get them fired up for a film and I just don't think that Flash has that.

Actually Flash is more well known than you think. He had a live action tv show as well as appeared on cartoons as well. I have high hopes for the Flash movie......even with Levy directing it. I know a lot o fanboys hated the announcement of him doing it but dude might be perfect to do the job cuase he has done family movies. I'm just going to give dude a chance.

Yeah, but he's nowhere near the Superman/Batman/Spiderman level. My point is that there isn't going to be that level of natural buzz around a Flash movie.

With enough marketing, a good cast, a decent script and the right SFX it has every chance of doing very well. A lesser known character doesn't mean it can't do well, look at Ghost Rider and 300 for examples of lesser known books doing very well. It would have to have a good release date as well, because a Shrek or a Harry Potter would do a lot of damage to the numbers

Just wondering, is Levy still directing The Flash or did he back out? I haven't heard much news on this lately...

Hell, I can't imagine how amazing a trailer would be.

:wow:

Still in negotiation. :down

...they need to seriously get started! The Flash is my #3 favorite hero in comics behind Bats and Iron Man.

Whoa! Did you say Iron Man and hero in the same sentence?! You are sooo confused! :D
