In the FNSM title Flash made his return without any explanation on how he recovered from his coma. He also doesn't remember anything in the past few years/months or whatever the marvel time period is. He doesn't remember the frienship he had with Peter and all that they've gone through. The only thing he remembers is that Peter is puny Parker. Now was this supposed to be Marvel's way of bringing back the old Flash or something? Are we supposed to just forget about the coma and just accept Flash as the old high school jock we once knew without any sort of explanation?

Yes. Forget. Fooorrrrggggeeeettttttt........

Now do want Marvel's offical line on the matter?

Marvel: "Coma? What coma? Sure you weren't reading Batman?...... uh..... New Earth shattering event in Peter's life!!!...... c'mon be distracted.......

Forgeeeeeeet."

PAD explained it like this when he brought him back... how entertaining would it be to watch Flash go through months of painstakingly tedious physical therepy? Flash recovered, has some brain damage indicated by his memory issues, and that's that. This is a non-issue. It's not about continuity, but about what makes an entertaining story.

I actually would have liked to see that, It would have shown that being in Peter's life has lasting, sometimes negative consequences.

Having Peter be affected by watching one of his best friends on a painful road to recovery due to an injury indirectly caused by Spider-Man would be alot more interesting to me than. "I'm all better now!" and "By the way the meaningful friendship we forged over the years and had.... well I forgot about it. No character development for me!"

Having Flash being somewhat disabled (Needing a cane, or some other physical or mental injury) and still be friends with Peter would be constant reminder to Peter that everyone he touches is at risk, and not everyone comes back as good as new like him after a conflict.

Sums it up.

Flash IS disabled. He has a brain injury. Alot of people with brain injuries have significantly altered personalities and memory loss after. It's not regression of his character, but brain damage. You're taking a very cynical approach to an actually somewhat realistic depiction of someone who's had a grave brain injury.

But physical therepy? How many times could they show him learning to walk and speak and eat and go to the bathroom? Even Hobie Brown recovered from being a quadraplegic in the span of one arc.

And actually, Flash may not be as intelligent as he used to be (going into a brick wall at 70 mph will do that) but he and Pete are fine. He even let Peter stay at his apartment.

What I want to know about Flash, is what happened to that phone call he made in the Sandman arc. It sounded like he was going to rat out Pete to the police, but I haven't seen anything about it since.

After the last issue of friendly where flash offered himself to save pete, I think we're gonna get a mix of the old flash but with a bit more cockiness, which I kinda like cause it seemed for years that flash just got dumped on and made into a joke. I'm sure it was fun for pete for a while, but flash became a likeable character somewhere along the line, so I believe this is kinda a second chance for flash. He's back to being pete's friend, but he's also got back a bit of that old flash, so overall I'm happy with it.

It turned out being a phone call to Betty Brant, asking her out to dinner, or a drink... or whatever it was.
