Yeah, I guess it does, doesn't it. Except at the heart of it, it's not a character who has grown tremendously over the past few years and has a meaningful drive, it's a character who will sell more underroos and is being shoehorned into the forefront of the DCU for marketing purposes.
It's pretty much been confirmed a while ago that Flashpoint was going to deal with the screwed up timelines in the DC Universe as seen in Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne and Wonder Woman.
I really wouldn't be surprised to see Johns use his run on Booster Gold to play a part in Flashpoint since the Johns/Katz run on Booster Gold built up Booster Gold trying to avoid such things. He utterly failed in his job considering how Darkseid and the Greek Gods have manipulated the timeline to some rather drastic ways.
It also seems like they have to create a timeline where Flash is a badass because they cant come up with a story that shows Flash being badass in the current Trinity/GL saturated universe. Although to be fair, maybe they are going to make Flash be to time and speed what GL is to space and the emotional spectrum. But look at me be all critical and analysisy, I am a sucker for the alternate timeline/universe stories.
I really wouldn't call the current DC Universe a Trinity/GL saturated universe. More like a Batman/GL saturated universe. War of the Supermen failed to boost Superman on par with Batman and Green Lantern and JMS has failed to boost Wonder Woman.
I would say that Flashpoint is attempting to make the DC Universe a new Trinity saturated universe. The Trinity being Batman, Green Lantern, and the Flash
I just mean how the Trinity has been presented as the be all and end all for years storywise within the DCU and then we just had three big GL events. I guess I am kind of combining two different arguments regarding writing and editorial exposure.
At first I thought the first teaser could have been about Green Lantern instead of Superman, but then I saw the ring one and it was def about Superman.
The Marriage one... That's the only REALLY cryptic one. It could really be anyone.
Wonder Woman and Aquaman are the most obvious, because I could see Themiscyra and Atlantis going to war at some point.
Really got no interest in this. Sick of big events no interest in the current Flash and no interest in another Johns book
Some of those teases sound interesting though. If DC did standalone Elseworld stories with those instead of making them part of yet another big event I would probably read them
Just hope that this is not going to screw up DC continuity again or mess with any characters or comic books I actually like
