Daredevil Foggy Nelson Casting and Discussion Thread

^

I agree. His face is distracting. I would like to cast him as some type of rat-themed character, though.

Jonah Hill is perfect as Foggy Nelson. I don't really think he's an amazing actor or anything but he's pretty much perfected the chubby lovable friend type role. It's kind of type casting, but lol, I don't care.

I was with you up until Jonah Hill.

But as for Hoffman, it's not only my shallowness with his face of me not liking him. Steve Buscemi's face is ugly to me too, but his talent outshines everything. He doesn't get lazy in roles, even in horrible projects he's involved in. Hoffman, not so much.

Which is why I said he would be the ideal choice for a 616 Mole Man. He actually looks like the character and looks rodent like.

I may be ok with Jonah Hill but not with Hoffman in this role,I'm still sticking with Greg Grunberg though lol

I really like this choice. Foggy in the comics is a comic relief, but Bendis, Brubaker and Mark Waid have all portrayed him as a very competent lawyer on Matt level, and the clever best friend that is both the perfect partner to a superhero and the guy that will never let Matt down. I can see Greg Grunberg being everything of that.

How about Patrick Labyorteaux?

He played Bud in the series "JAG". He was one of the lawyers in there, and played a competent one at that, even though he was also used for comic relief.

Or if not him, then how about Michael Badalucco?

He played another lawyer, Jimmy on "The Practice", and also won an Emmy for best supporting actor for his role.

Patton Oswalt would have been perfect. What a waste.

Astin or Grundberg are fine selections though.

Foggy is as important as Matt Casting wise. He's such an integral part of DD's world. Favreau was great in the movie, but he was underused.

I'm totally sad with the fancasting of Oswalt for Foggy, now that he's on AoS… no matter how much I love him.

That said, I'd be up for Greg Grunberg. Or Rich Sommer from Mad Men:

Or maybe even Anthony Anderson:

If they had gone a little older for Matt, my dream would've been Wendell Pierce, basically playing Foggy as Bunk. Because THE WIRE FEELS, YO! THEY ARE STRONG WITH ME!

Oh my word, Rich Sommer would be perfect. I can't believe I never thought of him before.

Honestly, he could just step right off of Mad Men in his Harry hair and bow tie and go right into the Netflix series.

I haven't seen the last two seasons of MM, so I don't know if he's still on the show, but if he's not anymore, better snatch him up, Marvel!

Sean Astin from The Lord Of The Rings, Goonies, 24, ect

God, I know he has been a fan favourite for years and that usually somehow works against it being reality, but hell if he wouldn't work terrifically alongside Cox.
They could almost be brothers, and ultimately they are brothers from other mothers.

Anthony Anderson and Sean Astin are definitely my favorite picks now.

He is still on the show, BUT the show only has 7 episodes left in total before it's done for good (and they aren't taking a break before shooting those either, so they should be wrapping in the next month or so). Plus, since he's a minor character on MM and Foggy is also a supporting character, I would think his schedule would probably allow it.

I think whoever they pick for Foggy can't resemble Murdock too much. They need a different type both physically and personality-wise.

Whoever's suggesting Sean Astin, that is GOLD! I've loved him since Goonies/Toy Soldiers/everything ever!

I like the suggestions in this thread a lot. I would have ADORED the heck out of Josh Gad, but I think he's got a ton of other things going on. (I have a soft spot for Olaf and he is wonderful!)

Every time I read a new DD issue, I just picture Rich Sommer as Foggy and I have a hard time giving up on him in that role LOL! The thing with Foggy is that they could go older with him even if he and Matt went to law school together - many of my classmates were several years older (a few by more than a decade or so) than me when I was in my mid-twenties. So Matt could be in his 30's and Foggy in his 40's and it'd be just fine.

I actually always thought Hoffman would be great for the classic 616 Moleman.

He doesn't really have a personality like Paul Lynde though. Hoffman specialises in playing *****ebags.

If I were doing a big budget FF movie

Peter Dinklage is Mole Man
For so many reasons.

We need a young Patton Oswalt type
First person I thought of for Foggy

Anderson's a no-go. He's got a lead role in a sitcom this fall. Even if it doesn't last, I think he'll be busy for at least the next few months.

If this was going to be a DD movie, then I would loved to have seen Zach Galifianakis annoy the hell out of courtrooms as Matt Murdock's law partner.

I love the Sean Astin recommendations, but now that they have picked Charlie Cox for DD (not very excited for that pick yet, please prove me wrong in 2015), I think Astin could be argued as too old for the role of Foggy.
