Football (Soccer)

That's how I see it. You've already bought him now so it's not a question of whether he was worth getting or worth the price tag paid, it's now a question of getting the most out of him either as a contributor to Utd's play this season or as a saleable asset to recover what you can. One thing I haven't ever faulted him on is attitude; I just think he's missing a few qualities to get to the top level. Still the bar isn't high for Utd just yet so a fully fit Mount fully motivated can still be an asset at least for this season.

The fact Mount can play wide is hopefully something we utilise, and that versatility will also give is the chance to offload Sancho and Antony this summer if the opportunities arise. Long-term I'm not sure I see Mount as a mainstay, but he'd raise the floor of our squad players.

Yes, the turnaround job will be a long one and you can only do what you can do this season. Start the process of moving on who you can and otherwise start letting these exorbitant contracts run down for players whoa aren't worth it.

Yeah, it was always going to be a difficult and frustratingly slow process, but always darkest before the dawn as the saying goes.

What do you think about going for Rabiot?

I've never been a fan but he's better than what we have, so as long as we only give him a 2+1 contract, I'd take him,

I'm not keen on Mazraoui in general, but why the hell are we giving him such a long contract! we won't get anything for Eriksen anyway but it's the waster mentality of these guys that bugs me.

I'm the same, the more I see & read of him, the less keen I am on his signing. He's injury prone, has averaged less than 30 games a season the majority of his career, which is beyond useless for us when a typical season would see us play 45+ games.

Talent wise I don't think he's that much of an upgrade, if one at all to Dalot or AWB, truthfully he strikes me as more of a similar RB to Dalot with similar weaknesses.

It's even worse if he's been bought as RB and LB cover, as both of our LB's are incredibly injury prone, I genuinely can't make sense of this one.

This is being used as the excuse for signing him, that he plays the same as Dalot, so when Dalot is out, we won't need to change the style of play, as he's much better on the ball than AWB, but all of that is irrelevant if he's never fit.

If we can get PSG down to option instead of obligation, then this would be shrewd business.

Excited by this signing. Hopefully he settles, as we know most Italian's don't travel well.
I mentioned before but I’ve watched quite a few analysis videos on this guy and I’m very intrigued to see how he does with Arsenal. He might take some bedding in. but I think it’s a great buy.

I agree. Physically, technically and ability wise, he's just what we need.

Now on to Mikel Merino for another depth building signing.

Disappointed by this. Was looking forward to seeing him come through with us. I don't quite understand how he see's United's pathway a better prospect than ours, seeing as though United have two young CF's already in front of him and all he'd be competing with for us at the moment is Havertz and Jesus.

Apparently, his agent didn't help matters and seem's like one of those vulture types looking for the most money. Unfortunately, for us he's also Saka's agent. He caused problems in Saka's last contract renewal/negotiations, so I'm not looking forward to Saka's next contract renewal/negotiations.

Didn't know this. This explains why Saka's representatives were forcing Arsenal to include a release clause for his contract extension

Are there any plans for you to get another striker this summer? Dont know if that would have played into it at all, but yeah F the agents!

If Nketiah leaves I think Arsenal probably go for a striker, if not then they're kinda crowded in that position. I don't think they really need a striker (unless Nketiah leaves), Havertz did really great in that role last year and you would assume he's nailed on for the nr1 choice. Then you have Jesus who have had his injuries but is a good second choice, and you have others like Trossard who can do a job there if needed. I'm more surprised Arsenal hasn't gone in for a midfielder to partner with Odegaard and Rice (Partey being injured most of the time and now Smith Rowe leaving). I would also say a winger to push Saka and capable of starting instead of him so he can rest occasionally - something Nelson didn't really provide.

Toney is often mentioned about moving to Arsenal but Im not sure if thats a real thing or just rumors. Seems very quiet on him at the moment anyway.

This would be very good to move on a bit part player, he did ok at points for us last season and chipped in with a few goals but never seemed to be someone who was going to nail down a place. Turkey is a bit of a surprise destination but I guess his options are limited.

Seems like Fulham might have a say in it yet though. Good there is more than one interested party at least.

Yeah, I was definitely expecting him to move on this summer.

Osimhen is another possibility it seems Napoli need to get rid of him off the books and he is keen on the Prem as a destination but Chelsea seem to be after him at the moment.

Feels like such a long time since United functioned liked an actual football club. :weeping:
