Good for him and another player who Utd needed to move on, but I certainly didn’t see Galatasaray being his destination. Seems like he’s up for a challenge, hope he does well there.

Seems like Fulham might have a say in it yet though. Good there is more than one interested party at least.

If he goes to a side like Galatasaray or Fulham he has more of a chance to be an important player for both, seems to do well for Scotland when he's one of the team's top 5 players which realistically, he's never going to be for us unless we make several disastrous signings.

£30m, 100% profit & even if we didn't sign anybody to replace him in the squad, I honestly think we'd be fine giving Toby Collyer the same sort of backup/rotation minutes. He's looked impressive, albeit in pre-season for the first team.

Are there any plans for you to get another striker this summer? Dont know if that would have played into it at all, but yeah F the agents!
I don't think they've made their mind up on going for a striker or a winger yet.

Toney is often mentioned about moving to Arsenal but Im not sure if thats a real thing or just rumors. Seems very quiet on him at the moment anyway.
We met with him and didn't get a good impression/vibe. We've since moved on, as the club don't want anymore bad apples after purging those that were there.

If Nketiah leaves I think Arsenal probably go for a striker, if not then they're kinda crowded in that position. I don't think they really need a striker (unless Nketiah leaves), Havertz did really great in that role last year and you would assume he's nailed on for the nr1 choice. Then you have Jesus who have had his injuries but is a good second choice, and you have others like Trossard who can do a job there if needed. I'm more surprised Arsenal hasn't gone in for a midfielder to partner with Odegaard and Rice (Partey being injured most of the time and now Smith Rowe leaving). I would also say a winger to push Saka and capable of starting instead of him so he can rest occasionally - something Nelson didn't really provide.
Isak and Nico Williams seem to be our top choices for an attacking player. Williams seems like he will end up at Barca eventually and I don't see Newcastle wanting to sell, nor do I see us stumping up the fee they would demand. Wouldn't be surprised to see us hold out on an attacking player until next summer to see what opportunities there are then.

Wow, Barca recreating Spain’s young tournament-winning gameplay.

Man Utd: Leny Yoro out for three months & Rasmus Hojlund six weeks

Not a flying start for our new signing and start of the season, our injury record is horrific of late, looks like we are back to Maguire and Lindelof at the back for a while unless Martinez can keep himself fit for more than 5 minutes.

On the plus sides it looks like Amad is progressing nicely as a winger so will hopefully feature more next season as a regular starter.

3 months, wow. Thats super long for a new signing. Could be hard to bed in properly this season while struggling to get to full match fitness. Hojlund also needed a good start this season. Shame, hopefully no more injuries.

Doesn't matter that they are financially weaker than Everton and have multiple players on insane wages they try to weasel their way out of paying. Players still wanna go there even if Barcelona are offering "We'll give you 300 bag of Lays crisps for the player but spread out over 24 months". :funny:

Disappointed by this. Was looking forward to seeing him come through with us. I don't quite understand how he see's United's pathway a better prospect than ours, seeing as though United have two young CF's already in front of him and all he'd be competing with for us at the moment is Havertz and Jesus.

Apparently, his agent didn't help matters and seem's like one of those vulture types looking for the most money. Unfortunately, for us he's also Saka's agent. He caused problems in Saka's last contract renewal/negotiations, so I'm not looking forward to Saka's next contract renewal/negotiations.

Apparently, according to Romano, we've told Chidi Obi that he'll get first team minutes as the 3rd striker this season, and now Højlund is already going to miss six weeks so there's a good chance he makes the bench. There's also the fact Kobbie and Garnacho were regular starters for us last season and both aren't 20 yet, along with Barcelona I don't think any other big club brings through young players into the senior team as often or as quickly as United.

Based on how he showed up in the Euros, I still think he's a good fit for Arsenal tactically. And since interest in him has cooled off, maybe we can get him for a much smaller sum. Although, I'd prefer we get Doue or Eze and then try to get Sesko next year.

As far as character goes, let's not pretend Ben White is not a jerk. Pretty sure Arteta can rein him in if he really wanted to

It certianly isnt ideal, major players that would be starting most games you feel are now sidelined for a while. It seems as well other signings are a bit stuck in the mud until we can move on some other chaff but a lot of players seem to be digging in and wanting to fight for their place. All well and good but not much use to us if they are pants anyway and we want them out the squad all together. Our squad isnt all that different from last season at the moment, have to hope the youngsters kick on a level in the likes of Garnacho, Amad, Mainoo rather than new signings giving us a boost this time. Just goes to show how strapped for cash we are really.

Yeah, I saw that and it makes sense. Still bummed though, as I reckon he's going to be a star. We made him a better offer and proposed a better plan and pathway to the first team for him than what we did for Ethan Nwaneri, but alas it wasn't meant to be. I know some people who are privy to the behind the scenes stuff at both United and Arsenal. Both sides say the same about what United offered him and both said that his agent made things very awkward for us in negotiations with his demands, as he did with Saka.

Maybe Saka will be the next one to move to United when his contract talks come around again. He is a United fan afterall. :D

I dont think he's the right profile for us in all honesty. We seem to be going for players with flexibility that can play multiple positions, given the style of play we use and rotating formations during games.

Being a jerk on the pitch and being a jerk in real life are pretty different, IMO. I don't think White falls into the latter category.

Really interested to see Fullkrug in the Prem, he looked really good in the CL for Dortmund and Euros for Germany, a proper old school center forward. looks like he is built to deal with the physical side at least.

Its only pre season I know but United have been pretty awful and have gotten battered in most of our games, sure we have a got some players missing but Im not sure we can expect much more than last season at the moment. The positive vibes of the FA Cup win and initial signings seems to be evaporating quickly and if we dont get off to a good start ETH might find himself back under a lot of pressure very quickly again.

Agents are the absolute bane of the game, I doubt barely any of them care about what's best for the player. In this case apparently Bayern and PSG offered him more but the key thing was the path to the first team we've supposedly shown him, given his physical size I wouldn't be surprised to see him get some game time this season given the way we stack up injuries.

Is he? I didn't know that about Saka, interesting! :hmm: 😁 I can't see him coming to United at any point in truth, he's a mainstay of Arteta's project and you are miles ahead of us, I'd say we are another 2 seasons away from even being confident of getting top 4.

Yeah, I've watched the 3 US tour games and other than a few bright sparks we've looked mediocre, in Amass we have huge potential at LB and I'd say Mount and Amad have looked sharp, as has Rashford until it comes time to engage his brain and it's the same lack of end product. Sancho has had some cute moments but still looks like a breeze will knock him over, Antony looks as awful as ever and Casemiro plays like he's on the park with his grandkids, our midfield is horrendous, even Collyer looks like another physical specimen with poor touch and passing, I actually prefer what I've seen of Maxi Oyedele. With the injury to Yoro we had Evans and Lindelöf as starters last night, I know Licha is due back but our lack of depth is a huge concern.

Yeah I dont see a whole lot of change in the squad at the moment. Starting another season where Lindelof, Evans and Maguire are getting minutes is not likely to lead to anything more than what we already have had, same with Casemiro and Eriksen who both looked like the Prem was too much for them last season. The squad underperformed last season sure, so it can do better but thats not really raising the bar more just playing to your potential which looks like 4th would be about the ceiling again but that wont be easy with the other sides around us. My expectations for this season are not exactly high at the moment.
