Porto away isn’t the simplest fixture but 2 points from 2 Europa League games isn’t great. All the other PL teams are doing better and some have also come across big teams.
No but it shows the difference when teams like Liverpool and Arsenal have been going to Porto in the Champions League and smashing them easily, we get given a two goal lead in the Europa and cant even cling on to that.

Things is every game for United is tough now, sides can see our glaring problems and most can exploit them in some for or another, its just the level we are at now.

Villa away will be tough for anyone so for us even more so. Im not expecting much.

Liverpool beat Palace away to keep it interesting up top while Fulham are at least not totally rolling over for City away. They scored first but City have now equalised.

Yeah, this Utd side is the epitome of inconsistent and even Europa League teams won’t be gimme ties.

A draw away at Villa right now wouldn’t be a bad result, if you weren’t already desperate for a 3 points from somewhere and lagging in the table.

Liverpool, City and Arsenal all win to keep things pretty much as they were before at the top. Chelsea I guess play tomorrow as Everton v Newcastle on now.

Ahh Anthony Gordon misses a pen for us against old club Everton. Pretty poor pen though.

Fulham brought it back to 3-2 against City. Glad Arsenal also won after Liverpool earlier.

Chelsea are home to Forest while Spurs are also in action away to Brighton.

0-0 at the end. Feel like we could have got the win today. Decent performance away from home and will get some wins away if we keep playing like that.

Yeah probably a decent result for both sides in the end. Everton need every one they can get at the moment and Newcastle are still well up there at the moment so a point is not a terrible result as things stand, just slightly annoying missing the pen that might have been enough.

Porto do have a credible record against English sides overall, I heard them mention it on the broadcast & I was even thinking about our own record even in Ferguson's days wasn't a constant stream of demolition jobs.

I believe the last 2 English teams to go to Porto were City & Arsenal, both drew if I recall. The only English team I can recall off hand that is bound to have a good record against them is Liverpool as I remember, particularly in Portugal, they've beat them 5-1 & 5-0 I think a couple of years in a row. But you're talking probably 5+ years ago, it was that long ago I recall Dalot playing the home game against them as a LB.

I know de Ligt & Martinez struggled mid-week, but really strange to bench both in this game. Villa have a quick often dynamic bunch of attackers, having 2 statues playing CB isn't going to be fun unless we plan on sitting deep the whole game.

I also don't understand Ugarte not starting, all summer to get your man, you need results now. At worst case if he's struggling getting up to pace, sub him off, better that than bringing him on at some point, then finding out he's struggling to adapt to the pace.

Trying to be cute with team selection, when the widespread reports are a bad lose today could cost you your job is either ballsy.. or moronic. We'll know by 4 o'clock which.

Big game then for ETH you feel next then, United away at Villa, tough place to go and now relying on old timer Evans and Roblox head Maguire to save him. Slightly concerned about the pace of Villa's attack against those two but then I'd be concerned who ever was playing today.

Hold on to your hats United fans, the rest get your popcorn ready for the potential end of ETH..............

0-0 Villa and United play out a rather dull draw, uninspiring display from both sides and neither really threatened all that much, meh.

Chelsea and Forest draw as well1-1, home side not too happy with that result most likely but a great point for Forest.

Spurs leading away at Brighton. Oh just scored another as I was typing. Could be a good result and push them back in the reckoning and above us.

Roblox haha.

ETH still on a tightrope for now and the table looks terrible with Utd in 14th, but the result itself isn’t bad.

Chelsea have to be disapppinted with that at home after looking more threatening recently.

Spurs throw a 2-0 lead away to Brighton who come back to win 3-2, classic Spurs.

I only just saw that. :funny:

No one will ever outSpurs Spurs!

Given that in recent years under Emery Aston Villa are a good side, I'll take a point. Ironically, Evans & Maguire both played well, so I'll class todays decision to rotate de Ligt/Martinez out under ballsy. It was the forwards that were poor, Garnacho was poor, it seemed like he was responsible for all of our turnovers. Running at men when it's ill-advised, shooting from unlikely angles when you've a good pass on. It was the sort of decision making I'd criticise Rashford for if he did it, so it's only fair Garnacho gets the same criticism. The one thing he has as an excuse is he's only 20 so it's sort of more expected from someone his age.

Hojlund was alright, I mean he didn't do anything wrong worked hard & had it not been for the general poor quality of our final ball (or in our case, not played into him at all) he was in good areas to take shots had some of our creative players got their head up. I like that he screamed at I think it was Garnacho after one such instance, needs to do that more regularly to his teammates to let them know. Almost needs take a Cristiano Ronaldo or even Ruud van Nistelrooy himself like approach & nearly demand the ball be played to him. Zirkzee was poor when he came on for him, hardly had a kick & when he did it was to give Aston Villa the ball right back.

Rashford was average, his usual sort of performance, was unlucky with one of his shots as he caught it well & Martinez tipped it over. Should have been sent off or given a second yellow for that petulant trip of Bailly I think it was after he'd beaten him, can hardly blame EtH for bringing him off almost immediately given he was likely on the referees last nerve. Antony had little impact when he came on, pressed & defended slightly better, but with the ball didn't accomplish anything.

All in all, the point was good, the performance was alright I guess to an extent or from a defensive perspective, but our forward play was putrid & to be honest, I wouldn't even hold ten Hag completely responsible for the poor attacking play either as it largely comes down to poor individual decision making most of the time.

ten Hag's delayed judgement until post-international break, Brentford is a must win & there's no way he can lose to Jose at Fenerbache in the Europa League either, he needs to find a way to start churning out results.

England were about to lose at home to Greece but for a very late equaliser.

Only to concede again and lose 2-1 to Greece in the end. Poor performance from England, Greece deserved the win. We look a little lost as a side at the moment. Need to sort out a proper manager soon.
