Football (Soccer)

If anything unfair happens it doesn’t matter how we then play. If the ref gives a foul that wasn’t then down tools and walk off the pitch, don’t even try and get a result regardless.
He also conveniently forgets that we were already getting battered by Spurs and were 1-0 down before the red card anyway. Nothing to do with a ref.

Real Madrid got beaten 4-0 at home by Barca!!

Did not expect that shellacking Barca gave to Real Madrid. I definitely needed that pick me up after what happened to the Yankees last night.

Big win for Barca and a bit of a surprise as Madrid are usually dominant these days but seem to be stuttering a bit in the league and CL at the start, no doubt they will come good when it matters though but Barca have a nice lead to start the season with to give them good incentive for the rest will be good if that league can be more competitive again.

And small matter of Liverpool v Arsenal still to go.

United down to 14th in the table, yeesh...........

Arsenal 2-2 Liverpool

Decent draw for Liverpool in the end after being behind twice.

ten Hag is one of the most unlucky managers I've ever seen, he's the complete opposite of Ole who was one of the most fortunate managers I've ever seen. Nothing seems to go right for him.

I've never seen at least a Manchester United team, spurn so many glorious chances. Open goal, free header(s), uncontested shots inside the penalty box, as well as your standard half chances that drew saves from the goalkeeper. If we'd went in today at half-time 3-0 up, nobody could have argued we didn't deserve it with the chances we'd created. Yet somehow we went in 0-0 & actually ended up going a goal down, scrambling just to get a point in a game we should have been comfortably winning by the time their goal went in.

Then, of course, enter VAR. If I'd wrote this moments after the match this entire post would be an expletive ridden tirade, but it was an absolutely incompetent & shambolic decision. There was no call needed to be made, which is what the referee originally did, there was a coming together with relatively minor contact & the game continued. What the donkeys in the VAR booth saw that made them recommend the referee even take a look at it is absolutely beyond me.

My blood's boiling just thinking about it & the sheer level of stupidity involved.

Ah I missed all yesterday’s games. Good for Liverpool. It wouldn’t be a terrible result for Arsenal either under normal circumstances, but given they had already started to drift from the top 2 they could really have done with a win at home. Maybe Liverpool can challenge City after all - looks like Salah is still motivated which I wasn’t sure he would be getting towards the end of his top level career and with these big money moves to Saudi cropping up all the time.

Maybe the introduction of Mbappe has affected team balance. Player for player they are super strong on paper, but losing 4-0 at home is a terrible result for any team, especially against your biggest rivals.

Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle
West Ham 2-1 United
Palace 1-0 Spurs
Newcastle dropping down the table fast, while Chelsea looking good for top team outside the 3 with a chance of challenging for the title.

WH finally get a result, while Utd's poor run of results continues.

As exciting as things can be under Postecoglu, he boost Spurs' Spursy inconsistency even further!

Its ok because ETH does not eat Ham so this result can be ignored as well. :o

Doesn't come as a massive surprise as this is a results driven business & not only was he not getting the results, he wasn't getting any level of consistency in the performances.

There's no way he'd have made it to Christmas with our erratic form, but it is annoying that ultimately it was a bull**** VAR decision that has pushed the club over the edge.

None of the names being floated about fill me with confidence, however Southgate, Potter & Thomas Frank are all hard passes from me.

Xavi, Nagelsmann & Amorim seem to be in the running and could be at least half decent picks in comparison.

Looks like ETH gone.

"Ten Hah" brutal from Romano, kicking the man when he's down.

To be fair Im glad its over, I never enjoyed sticking the boot into the man who isnt really the problem at the club and had a hand tied behind his back from the start. Some of his signings were very questionable and this was probably a job just a bit too big for him to turn around, he still won some stuff which others couldnt do but it never really seemed like the full squad was behind him.

Does leave an even bigger mess of a squad to the next guy though, until that gets sorted nothing will change in the long run anyway.

Lol, very talented player but he's almost certainly going to Real Madrid.

Looks like ETH gone.

Had to be done, but until we sell Rashford, Bruno and Casemiro it won't matter who's manager.

Given how quickly we've moved on Amorim I think the decision was made before the weekend, they were just waiting for the next bad result which was never going to be far away.

I like his style and his 3-4-3, but until I see Bruno and Rashford sold I find it hard to care.

They didn't need him, it was a gluttony signing.
