I don't know if I have any more patience with Onana. He's not our only problem but we spent 60 mil to replace a shaky goalkeeper in De Gea with a keeper who isn't doing any better. Just summarizes the ****show of our transfers in the last few years. So much money spent on players who aren't better than what we have.

Things aren’t turning around fast for Spurs & Utd and we’re close to Feb. Gonna be a write off of a season for both clubs with a big summer of rebuilding needed. I kinda wanted both of these managers to do well but we’ll see how much time they get.

1-3 Onana with another clanger, lost count of his since he joined.
Again, no way, this dude is Clanger Central! I can understand a keeper having a couple of clangers a season but Onana has a couple of clangers every month. Playing out from the back requires a solid base on which defenders can trust before taking that next step.

Utd have had an absolutely disastrous strategy in transfers and player wages/contracts for many years. Under PSR that will get heavily punished in future years if it continues.

Poor again today overall, it's the same story of our season, we are like a blunt instrument going forward. Struggle to really penetrate with any level of consistency & when we actually do manage to we end up squandering the chances anyway.

Defensively we were killed by both Brighton & Southampton by their wide players, they were able to find pockets of space & on both occasions when they picked up the ball they had no hesitation in running at their man at speed creating confusion & hesitation.

As a few have mentioned, Onana, more mistakes. I actually think he made two, he obviously was at fault completely for the third that killed the game, but the second also I thought he was incredibly indecisive, looked like he wanted to come for the ball & then stopped, which allowed it to drift into Mazraoui's blind spot & effectively bounce inside the 6 yard box. Maybe he was too far away from it & realised he wasn't getting to it which is fair enough, but he still doesn't do enough for my liking to even charge the ball down & get himself in the way.

At this point he's without question a player I'd look to move on in the summer, if we could recoup 1/4 of what we paid for him ie £15m we will be doing extremely well. Between now & then, I'd start Altay Bayindir & see if he's got anything to offer in terms of being a long term starter, if not, see what's available in the market. Maybe this time try to sign someone whos strengths are actually things like aerial ability, shot stopping & command of penalty area.. you know actual important goalkeeping traits as opposed to how good he is with the ball at his feet, as we can see from Onana, it's useless & irrelevant if you can't consistently do your job of stopping the ball going in your net.

Yeah I won't blame Onana for the first but definitely the second and third. That second goal doesn't happen if you have a goalkeeper with an 'aura' in the box who would just step out and take that. My frustration with Onana is that it never feels like he has a 5/5 game. At best he has 1-2 good saves and he's not mentioned in the negatives after our game but at worst he gifts the other team a goal or two.

Exactly, maybe calling the second an error is a bit harsh, but I don't think that sort of goal goes in so relatively easily if you've a goalkeeper who's more in command of his own penalty box, Onana looked passive.

My frustration with him is I just don't think he's a good goalkeeper. His ability with the ball at his feet is overshadowed by the fact he's average & even below average in actually important goalkeeping areas shot stopping, handling, dealing with crosses/aerial threats, command of area etc.

Not to mention, he's extremely error prone, his decision making & concentration is also something severely lacking hence why he has made so many errors.

Every single goalkeeper makes mistakes, small & big, it's inevitable. However it's a case of production & tolerance, de Gea made errors now & again costing us points, however because he was an actual good goalkeeper overall, he ended up earning us more points than he cost us.
Onana's only been here a year & a bit, but he's unquestionably cost us more games with his mistakes & errors than he has won us them.

I don't dislike this at all. Definitely one of Wolves better players, not saying much but he did play well when they beat us on Boxing Day if I recall, between him & Cunha they gave us a nightmare down the left.

Anytime I've seen him & in the game most recently against us, he's aggressive with getting forward, dribbling & putting crosses into the box. He's pretty much what you'd want if you wish to play in a system with wingbacks as most of the better wingbacks are typically closer to being a winger than they are a fullback with how they play & he's definitely that.

He doesn't seem like a total liability defensively either, seems quite tenacious in the tackle & covers ground quickly. His biggest liability from a defensive standpoint is more as a result of his strength, it's being dispossessed & where on the pitch he's dispossessed.

If you try to sign him in January you're going to have to pay a premium though, whereas in the summer, he could be available for a lot less, particularly if we stay up & Wolves go down.

Dorgu is apparently another option reportedly in the £25m region, looks raw, but talented. Great physically considering he's 19.

Considering Shaw/Malacia have been plagued with injuries these last 2 years, combined with Malacia looking noticeably slower & off the pace in his return, also taking into consideration Shaw's touching 30, it wouldn't surprise me if we were in for both Dorgu & Ait-Nouri.

Time to move on from injury-plagued players reaching the later part of their careers. I also think both of these players could help Utd, and Amorim needs new blood to help wash away the stench of what's currently going around at Old Trafford if nothing else.

Onana can't do the bread and butter of goalkeeping. In the modern game playing out from the back and having a keeper good with his feet is a great bonus, but it will always come second to having someone who can perform all the traditional roles of goalkeeping to a high standard. That's the foundation on which it's nice to build other things that can help the team but are less crucial. The clue is in the name, goalkeepers should be able to keep goal, defenders should be able to defend.

Chelsea with a good 3-1 win last night to put them back in the top 4. Its tight up there so every point counts, a lot of teams can still have a shout so you need to keep ahead of the rest as long as you can, especially now City seem to be getting back to usual ways.

I don't remember a top 4/5 race with so many teams potentially involved, even without Utd & Spurs.

Shaw is a player I do like, but when you need him the most, he's just unable to stay fit. He's had maybe 2 or 3 full seasons were he's been relatively injury free, however he's been with the club 10 years & I don't think he's managed to even play 300 games in all competitions, which tells you a story of how many chunks of games he has missed. Averaging 30 games a season, when you're a starting player with pretty much no backup, isn't good at all.

Malacia's also been unlucky, suffered a lot of back to back problems before he'd really shown anything. Based on his limited gametime since returning it looks like it has sapped his pace & agility totally.

Mason Mount's also another, wasn't needed to begin with as many fans noted & his been incredibly misfortunate with injuries.

Exactly, being able to play with your feet should be a bonus, but when you're weak in the core elements of goalkeeping, it's useless & pointless.

I feel like availability has become more than ever the key attribute for a player and while I like Shaw, putting your bets on him to be your LB through a season is just asking for trouble. Unfortunately he's in that same sort of space that Phil Jones was for us where you wish the guy the best but the injuries are not gonna go away.

Villa lose 1-0 to Monaco.

Liverpool take the lead against Lille through Salah as they attempt to keep their 100% record.

Lille get a man sent off and then…equalise!

Barcelona were 3–1 down to Benfica last time I looked, the Benfica player had got a hat-trick and apparently Scezny had made a couple of clangers (Utd might be interested!). Didn’t see them though.

Grealish finishes 5 mins after coming on to put City 1-0 up against PSG.

Arsenal leading Zagreb too.

2 more goals. I only tuned in a few seconds before the Grealish goal and I’ve already seen 3 goals!

2-1 after Haaland is sharp and opportunistically poaches one and then Dembele finishes nicely to equalise.

Barcolo equalises!!

4 goals in 10 minutes.

2-2
