Football (Soccer)

Ramos scores in injury time to make it 4-2. Amazing second half, and City have it all to do in the final group game.

Real Madrid also won 5-1 against Salzburg with 2 for Vinicius and Rodrygo and 1 for Mbappe.

Arsenal won 3-0 against Zagreb with Rice, Havertz and Odegaard scoring.

Oh just realised Bayern also lost 3-0 to Feyenoord.

I don't dislike this at all. Definitely one of Wolves better players, not saying much but he did play well when they beat us on Boxing Day if I recall, between him & Cunha they gave us a nightmare down the left.

Anytime I've seen him & in the game most recently against us, he's aggressive with getting forward, dribbling & putting crosses into the box. He's pretty much what you'd want if you wish to play in a system with wingbacks as most of the better wingbacks are typically closer to being a winger than they are a fullback with how they play & he's definitely that.

He doesn't seem like a total liability defensively either, seems quite tenacious in the tackle & covers ground quickly. His biggest liability from a defensive standpoint is more as a result of his strength, it's being dispossessed & where on the pitch he's dispossessed.

If you try to sign him in January you're going to have to pay a premium though, whereas in the summer, he could be available for a lot less, particularly if we stay up & Wolves go down.

Dorgu is apparently another option reportedly in the £25m region, looks raw, but talented. Great physically considering he's 19.

Considering Shaw/Malacia have been plagued with injuries these last 2 years, combined with Malacia looking noticeably slower & off the pace in his return, also taking into consideration Shaw's touching 30, it wouldn't surprise me if we were in for both Dorgu & Ait-Nouri.

Ait-Nouri yes, but I'm not keen on Dorgu, I think it would be another mistake, he's physically built, fast and athletic, which our team lacks, but his touch and technique are mediocre at best, we need players with all the attributes, not just a couple, and sacrificing technique in the modern game is very unwise. Lecce also want closer to £35M which is ridiculous for a player that hasn't done anything yet.

El Corruptico second half was certainly entertaining, Peperoni even showed humility in defeat! :wow: that Bayern result is a big surprise.

Crazy game in Paris it seems, even though it feels odd that the group stage is still going on even now.

City not qualifying for the knockouts would be huge but they dont usually throw away two goal leads so something is not quite right with them this season. At least their last game is at home so should still get over the line but going to be a lot of sides in the mix with a lot of big teams not in the top 8 as it stands.

I don't know anything about Dorgu to be honest outside of a few videos I watched providing a broader tactical analysis of him outside of a highlight reel. From everything I've seen, he looks very much like a project signing, potentially a diamond, but still too raw to throw immediately in as our starting LWB & expect miracles.

£35m, as you say, is too much for a player that still seems quite raw + realistically needs a few seasons of experience under his belt & further development. Especially when we ourselves need someone who's ready to play the majority of games now.

It was a very exciting second half, I didn’t see the first.

I sort of want to see how that league table would look if they played it till the end of the season.

Could turn out to be a major signing.

They've already signed 2 others if I'm not mistaken, I think I heard on TalkSport earlier that they've dropped £125m.

City don't mess about, they've had a wobble this season & need reinforcements, they've immediately moved to sign targets they otherwise might have waited until the summer to sign or perhaps not at all had things been business as usual for them.

Oh right. This guy could be huge in future. Will be interested to see who else they’ve got. Big moves for Jan but CL qualification on the line. As you say, they don’t mess about, unlike a bunch of other clubs discussed in these parts. :D

Will be interesting to see how he does at Dortmund. If he does well again after Ajax, then part of it’s a Utd problem where a ton of managers with decent records have failed.

Maddison and Son on the scoresheet as Spurs go 2-0 up away to Hoffenheim.

Good news for the PL getting 5 CL places.

Finishes 3-2, Spurs never want it easy lol. Still a very good result away from home for them.

Comical goal for Utd after Rangers keeper tries a punched clearance but the ball rolls backwards and into the net. :D

Utd need all the luck they can get right now so they’ll take it lol.

Damn. Absolutely crap defending but a great finish by Rangers to level it up very late on.

Oh not over, Fernandes slots it with another moment to make it 2-1 in stoppage time.

Shame that Amorim has to deal with the F ups of past spending. No surprise Utd under PSR are going to start seeing consequences to the most ridiculous transfer and wages (including contract renewals) policy in the league.

Sooner or later it's got to all click for us won't it? How that game last even came down to the wire is beyond me with the number of glorious chances we wasted. Rangers forced a few saves also but my goodness, we should have had a few goal cushion by the time they even scored.

Have to say, Dessers goal was superb, absolutely glorious 1 touch control & 1 touch finish. Had a more household name scored that it would have been raved about for weeks.

Played alright overall, but it's amazing how many ways we find to miss chances.

It's crazy at a time when we're one of the worst Manchester United teams in the last near 50 years, that they'd write this kind of letter to fans trying to make them dig deeper into their pockets.
I realise that ticket prices are rising across the board, I think I read the other day that Newcastle's supporter trust wrote a letter to their club asking them to freeze prices for next season, I presume this was because they got wind they were trying to bump there's up also.

In regards to United, in the letter it says;

We do need to look at our ticketing strategy to ensure we are charging the right amount, and offering the right discounts, across our products for our fans.

Well I can tell them, you aren't charging the right amount at all, across the board. Ticket prices in particular, considering the quality of play we've displayed these past few years, are violently overpriced. Not to mention the overall fan matchday experience & facilities just aren't on par to justify even their current price, let alone any further rises.

The PSR/FFP stuff is purely down to the club's negligent spending in recent years, not just with transfer fees, but some of the contracts handed out have been absurd.

The club should be concentrating on doing their jobs better & shifting players who aren't playing, even if it's on loan. We've Rashford & Casemiro, both probably earning £350,000 a week give or take & they've hardly had a kick since Amorim took over. That's £700,000 a week, £2.8m a month we're literally pissing into the wind.

See the fire sell is going well. :funny: :funny: :funny:

Cant buy players, cant sell players, stuck in purgatory.

The latest I heard was Chelsea want Garnacho and we apparently want the injury prone Nkunku. It's the kind of deal that if it happens, I'm not watching any of our games for a while. But it also wouldnt surprise me. Sell a promising 20 year old with lots of talent for Chelsea reject with glass knees. Worked well with Mount to be fair.

Utd have such high wages for dross and have paid so far above the odds for those players that they will be actually forced to sell soon IMO (with PSR and the regulations that will replace it). They’ll price clubs out and then sell well below the asking price later on. Nothing’s changed on that front with Ineos lol.

Could even get worse as revenue might stagnate with much more competition in the PL and CL/Euro football no longer a guarantee. Even City can go through a rough period and it isn’t only the title that looks at risk (like would have happened in the past). Also unlike in the Fergie era, young fans abroad won’t grow up with such an obvious choice on who to support in the PL.
