For kids growing up in the last few years or so, who do you think they would perceive as the top tier/ A-list superheroes who are more well-known than anyone else? Remember that it's not what has historically been the case but what they would probably think with all the exposure etc.

For instance, would Superman be right at the top or would they think Batman is more well known? What about Iron Man? Would he be placed higher than the Hulk? Would he be tied with Spider-Man? Would Wonder Woman even make the list now? What about the likes of the Flash?

I know years ago Hulk would've probably been the number 2 Marvel hero, but probably not anymore.

What are people's thoughts?

I don't think Superman is that popular with kids. I imagine his fan base is a bit older, people who were kids when Supermans comic was actually good and relevent.

I'd say Batman and Spidey are tops. You could throw Hulk, Wolverine and Iron Man in there too.

I would say kids todays top superheroes are Batman, Spider-Man, Wolverine and Iron Man.

I would say Ben 10, Batman...

Batman, for the same reasons he became popular- he's the mysterious pulp protector in dangerous times, with the resources to look cool doing it. Spider-Man still appeals to kids because he's empowered by chance to do as he wishes, not unlike "adults," but he maintains principle values that both keep him young at heart and easily understood. Wolverine's Wolverine; unbreakable blades shoot out from his fists, he heals from every wound, and pain just makes him more wry- and, therefore, cool- than before. Want a hero who won't feel too simple as you grow older, would probably win any conflict through sheer persistence, and never feels too serious? There he is.

It's not immediately obvious, but Optimus Prime is up there, too. He's utterly selfless, never gives up, and his arsenal's as sturdy and bold as he is. The primary colors, rarely-subtitled robots, and clearly defined alliances in the Transformers story makes it less of a pure sci-fi concept to kids and more of a superhero story with alien heroes and villains.

I was 6 years old when spidey 1 came out and super-man isn't very popular.
Right now:
Spider-Man, Batman, Iron Man and x-men

Spider-man , Iron Man , and Batman.

At least that's what I gather from my nephew and friends kids.

I would say that among many non-comic book fan adults those are probably the top three as well. From the movies, Iron Man seems to be more popular than Spider-Man, partly because of RDJ and just because he seems to have more of the lifestyle that people would want.

Are kids not into the Hulk as much these days? What about Wonder Woman? Is she not even relevant?

No, i didn't know wonder woman much until i got into comics and many kids only know her from justice league animated series that still airs here but no, she's not vey relevant now

Spider-Man and Batman. In that order methinks.

Hulk's still popular, but since kids don't read comics anymore, they mostly know him through his movies. He might grow more popular if The Avengers turns out well.

Kids are aware of Wonder Woman, but I've never spoken to a child who listed her as a favorite. Even the girls are more likely to list popular male supers than her.

I would agree. And I think that is because the movies. I don't think young kids read comics, and comics as a medium are kinda on the ropes.
Another big reason, because of the adults. Most people don't read comics so the movies influence toy choices for the kid, and if there is a movie, there are toys to buy. I have 2 nephews, and you better believe their uncle buys them cool toys.

kids like what you like or what you introduce them to, they pick up on your taste. my nephew doesn't like batman but likes green lantern. i think i soured him on batman. he likes the marvel superheros, he would watch the superhero squad though not anymore. now its the avengers and young justice, he saw some justice league so he loves the flash. now his 2 favorite are the hulk and the flash. i asked him why he said because the flash is fast and the hulk is strong, he is 9.

Kids are very simplistic about their likes and dislikes, it's all pretty much about the surface. They don't care about Peter Parker's complex lifestyle or the Hulk's psychoanalysis, they just know that Spidey can shoot webs and can be funny, and Hulk can smash whatever problem is in his way.

I'm a father of two young kids and I can tell you they LOVE Iron Man. Seeing their friends and their friends friends, he has to be the most popular. As a previous poster stated, they are very simplistic in likes. I think the cool look and technology appeal is the reason for this. Look at the longevity of the movie toys/action figures IM has. Not to mention 2 blockbuster movies to push them.
Iron Man, Spider Man, & Batman in that order, probably...

Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Batman. With the X-Men it's hard to say because the movies lack the colorfulness of the comics and recent cartoons that I think it polarizes kids a bit.

Batman, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine

Here's something that'll blow your mind.

More kids know who the FF are than the Flash.

:D

I have a little brother who's 7, but he's not a typical 7yr old, he's kinda of a little junior geek because he knows about all the major Marvel and DC characters, even ones that haven't made it out of the comics yet. His favorite is Wolverine though. Other favorites are Iron Man, Batman, Hulk and Spider-Man.

One of my best friends has a 5 year old son. From what I have seen and heard, the kid loves Iron Man the most, then Spider-Man and Batman. He is also really into Fantastic Four and Hulk, mainly from his dad using the cartoons on Netflix as entertainment for him.

Ask this question again in 10-15 years. Then the different Marvel Comics's characters have done most of its turn at the cinemas, and stories are put to an end. Perhaps another, better take of Fantastic Four is the on-going thing for them by then, a francise or so (whatever company behind it).
