Sony released a series of "fashion"esque pictures like these in certain places around the globe for an ad campaign for the release of the ceramic white psp.

Apparently they timed it right too. With darker skinned models and actresses missing completely from film and fashion, this ad comes at no surprise for some.

Although it is fair to say that this particular model isn't missing as much as she is fading into the background, thusly adding to this disturbing trend.

Anyone else notice this, or is at least somewhat offended by this or other horrific damaging ad campaigns.

Of course hiring the TOKEN can make people sleep better at night, as long as they make some cents.

BTW, in no way shape or form do I have anything against Jourdan. I think she's great. But having people fight over her for catwalks and covers is ridiculous when they can hire someone else.

Hurry everyone grab your pitchfork!!!!

The modeling industry also (and I can't believe it's actually an industry) objectifies and glorifies women who have the physiques of anorexic, 14 year old boys. They also present materialism and consumerism as admirable traits to the most disgusting of extremes. There's a whole lot to dislike about these people, quite frankly; this is just one of those things.

Yep.

Here's another link about the problem stretching across the globe. Don't get me wrong, this problem of HORRIFIC media representation, or even lack of, doesn't just happen with one group, although it may appear that way.

That's root of it. Perception. I dunno if anyone heard of the fiasco with Amanda Marquette's book. But even the most "liberal, free-thinking, progressive" people can fall trap not noticing anything is wrong, which is equally as dangerous.

Or like those in the fashion industry, know its wrong, complain about it in the media, then do nothing about it at work.

Welcome to two f**king years ago. I'm sorry, but getting an albino chick to represent the new white PSP and a black chick representing the black PSP, and showing them locked in combat, just doesnt offend me all that much. They're the personifications of a s**ty handheld video game system, and the models obviously got this, or they wouldnt have god damn done it.

The only thing that offends me is how lame the ad is. Besides, Sony's hypocritical stance on copyright and privacy should be much more offensive.

Sony BMG CD Scandal

Sony pirates software too

Agreed. They also left out the third ad in the series, which shows the black chick with the upper hand in the fight, the counter part to the first picture there.

Yep.

The percentage of Minorities in Stupid Ads

Please don't overstate things, it makes your agrument/stance look ridiculous.

Which one is supposed to be the minority anyway? The black chick, or the albino? Cause I cant recall ever seeing an albino in an ad before, and that's a hideous oversight that needs to be rectified now.

Has anyone seen the NEW Sony ad?
The one where this guys penis is a thumb?
I'd post it...but I don't think it's allowed.

I like the add... if people are offended then maybe they freak out too much.... i think it's fierce and a slap in the face literally directed at people who will react to stuff like this.

yeah i saw that...and it is disturbing. i'm pretty sure i'm scarred for life now. :o

Would bring a whole new meaning to 'thumbs up', though. Ha.

Sony's been on my s**t-list ever since that American Godzilla movie from 1998.
