This thread is only for those of us that were not happy with this film. AND ONLY those posters.

It's not intended to start a flame war.

The question is this:

If Singer is attached to a sequel to this film (and I've been reading that there is serious doubt about that since the lackluster box office of this one) will this keep you from seeing it?

Will this keep you from seeing it?
No, but I certainly won't pay for it. I either download it for free or wait for a tv airing. (If the movie should somehow turn out to be good I would buy the DVD.)

I'll see it but will prpbably never stop *****ing about it on this board. Singer really doesn't have a clue about Superman and I don't see that changing with his ego.

I'll be there opening night. Singer is fine. He established the franchise again, now it's time to get things moving..............

No. I still want to see Singers Superman. Not a half Donner half Singer mess.

Co-Sign

I wouldn't go to see it. I already didn't like his first movie so it would make no sense to give more $$$ to a movie that I know I'm not going to like...

Seconded.

superman has returned..now its time for him to take back the crown.

If he does the same crap that he did for SR... no, I won't.

I don't plan on seeing *ANY* sequel to SR, regardless of who directs it. I was extremely disappointed with the new and "improved" version. The Singer/Donner continuity is beyond redemption at this point. That Superman is dead to me. Just off the character and be done with it.

I'd like to see the Brothers Warner go back to the drawing board. Give us a Superman that we can grow to care about. Don't assume we'll give a rat's patootie about any preexisting issues or problems if we never saw them play out, "vague" or otherwise. That's lazy writing and makes for a very boring drama. Start from scratch and build the mythos from there. In order to care about a character, the storyteller must flesh him out so the audience can understand him through his actions, not some dry exposition. People care more about a character's future and the challenges he faces if they get to SEE where he's been and what put him in the predicament to begin with.

These are all just moots points though because I don't think WB can unring the bell without making matters worse. Unfortunately, I think people have had their fill with Superman for a while, particularly those who were disappointed with SR. Giving the latter yet *another* version of the character isn't gonna remove the bad taste left by SR. If WB does reboot the franchise, they're gonna need one helluva marketing campaign to identify that fact to fans who were disappointed with SR, and nimble feet to run damage control around those fans who were happy with it.

If Singer's attached to the sequel?

No, I won't be seeing it.

NOT in the theatre I won't

I didn't see this one, and I don't plan on seeing the next one if Singer is still at the helm.

Don't you think, even if you dislike Returns, than you should give someone a second chance? I mean, if Superman VI is released, with Singer at the helm, and you miss it at the cinema, and then find out years later on DVD it's great....

Wouldn't it make you somewhat of a hypocrite to see a sequel if in fact you disliked the first one so much you refuse to watch it again...or even recommend it to anyone? If you dislike Singer's work/approach/storyline so much to SR, why would you ever feel the neccesity to watch a sequel to such horrid Superman storyline.....Really?

If people disliked it so much, could you guys just start a huge online petition to get Singer off of a future sequel? I mean, there a HUNDREDS upon hundreds of people who would sign it.... Don't purchase the DVD, don't buy any SR merchandise, don't rent the movie, don't recommend it, etc.

If Singer is attached to a sequel to this film (and I've been reading that there is serious doubt about that since the lackluster box office of this one) quote]

"'Superman Returns' will be profitable for us," says Warner Bros. production president Jeff Robinov. "We would have liked it to have made more money, but it reintroduced the character in a great way and was a good launching pad for the next picture. We believe in Bryan and the franchise. Clearly, this was the most emotional and realistic superhero movie ever made."

President of WB(Alan Horn) is also happy and wants to make a sequel also...

So Singer is gonna direct the movie.....

Probably, but moreso if they make it it's own, not stuck in Donner's shadow.

I'll read alot of reviews for it, and if they're fairly positive, I'll go see it. I'll probably see it even if the reviews are crap anyway. :p

I gave part 1 a CHANCE in theaters... I won't make that mistake again.
While I didn't pay for it because I was treated to a free movie in the theater my friend works at I wont even bother with watching it for free in theaters if Singer is involved... He's a hack, and his ego wont allow him to make a REAL superman movie... Instead he will keep making his chick flicks with a metrosexual looking Superman... :o

I'd hate to have some director come in, as Batman Forever and X3, and mess up what has been done.

X3 was just as "good" as the first one. Singer messed up the X-Men long before Ratner took the helm.

Next time around I will not be plunking down $14 for a 10pm night before special screening. I’ll wait until I see what the buzz is, with Singer attached I do not have much hope for anything other than another lackluster treatment and total raping of my hero’s mythos!
