So.

The hypesters are out in force bashing and trashing the film.

I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it because it did a lot of things right.

Eva was great.:woot:

Nic was Nic. Was somebody expecting anything else?

The Ghost Rider was great. His dialogue was bang on for Johnny's incarnation and flipping the bird at the cops was great.

The fight scenes proved why the Rider is the Devil's bounty hunter. He kicks a** and takes on the Devil's Son and kicks his butt too.

The phantom Rider. Well I have to write a letter to Sam because ... Dang it he deserves the title "Sam F**King Elliot!" He was that good.

I loved the scenes on the bike, but the bike wasn't everything. The gun and chain looked great.

The dialogue was crisp and funny. The parts that were scary were not that scary but I wasn't expecting the Grudge or Halloween. This is the Rider after all.

The scene where he fights Blackheart and struggles was great.

His decision to choose to be the Rider over the girl ... was what Johnny did!

So.

I got more than I expected for the budget they had and enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it so much I am going again tonight.

If you liked it ... post your thoughts here.

Lot's of the acting was good, and I was especially pleased with Nic.
The look of the Rider was perfect, and the effects overall were great.

Yet sadly that is as much positive input as I can give, and it isn't because I am too picky, I'm just depressed that this might be the first, and last GR film we see for a long time, just like I'm not expecting a DD anytime soon. :(

These threads never work just look at the X3 boards :o

Hey. I created the thread and those who enjoy it can have somewhere to post.

If the haters want to trash it ... then they brought the heat on themselves for posting in the thread ...

There was only going to be one GR. Go rent the Director's cut of DareDevil. It was a great movie in that version.

What didn't you like?

CR I thought it was very good. GR, the bike, humor, everything worked out fine. You got me on your side.

I hope I'm not being categorized as a hater.
Ok, so I wasn't as upbeat as your thread hoped for, but I really don't think I'm being a wang about it.
I walked away from the movie basically pleased, so I am more in the liked it camp, yet I can't see how people can either totally love it, or totally hate it.

I hope I'm wrong, I hope a sequel is already in the talks.

Knowing hype it still will not matter why this thread was made. These in the end never work. Just letting you know. I am just telling you to be prepared

Bubonic, right there with you and I'm sure alot of others are as well.... the movie wasn't PERFECT and it wasn't ABYSMAL... it's, if you look at the polls here from fellow comic book fans, about average to above average. The 7 and 8 range. I gave it an 8. Which, I personally think is a good start.

I had the same feeling I had about the Fantastic Four film. I liked it, but could have been better. And that's what sequels are for- as you said, I also hope a sequel is in the works. Because with sequels you always, for the most part, learn what does and what doesn't work. Spider-Man 2, in my opinion, is miles ahead of the first Spider-Man and the same goes for X-Men and hopefully Fantastic Four. You learn from your mistakes and you fix them, while building on the aspects that the audience liked.

I loved the director's cut of DD. The interactions and relationships between characters had dept, and were enjoyable. The villains had great personalities. The story was coherent and feel in place very well.

Maybe the extended version of GR will be more solid, since loose ends might be fixed. But we probably won't get much more dept, and I doubt any of the confrontations will be extended. And the weaker performances won't get annexed, just probably featured more.
To me I just think they tried to reach to vast of an audience, and in result they've let down the major fans, and not even win over the masses they wanted.

Like I said. Just curious about the wave of people showing up with low post counts slamming the film. Suspicious and paranoid ... but I always wonder.

What drew you to the hype and what did you not enjoy? I am asking questions ... sorry if I label you a hater ... but perhaps you can understand that fans of GR have waited a long time for this movie and question when new posters suddenly appear and only want to seem to be negative.

If you could improve the movie ... what would you have done?

What was missing in your mind?

How did you find out about the hype?

I am fully prepared for legions of new posters to appear ... and slam the movie.

If someone liked it, it would be nice if there was a thread where they could post what they liked so those who did enjoy it could share their thoughts.

I have seen how things work here and fully expect the people who did not enjoy the movie to post here and let their feelings be known.

At least those who enjoyed it know where they can post.

i just got back and i really did enjoy it, even though it was a pretty flawed film. but it was just so quirky and funny and let's face it, his damn head was on fire, so that automatically made it cool.

i'll go with a 7/10... maybe 7.5.

I found out about the hype by searching for a site that dealt with Marvel movies, then found superherohype to be that and more, so almost everyday for a long while I'd check for updates, and really enjoyed the scoops.
Then recently I figured I'd check out the board, and it was bigger and better then I thought, and I love vBullentin powered forums.
What I would of changed wouldn't have been much, but I think it was important for the film to be a bit darker. Understood this is a comicbook movie, and I really didn't mind Blaze being a goofball, I laughed a good amount, just like I laughed at the great interactions between Foggy and Matt in DD.
But they seemed to have wanted to carry on that humor on to almost all aspects of the film.
Mendez and Bentley's performances weren't strong enough for me, even if they both visually accomodated their roles.
I didn't mind we didn't get full demon form blackheart, but I was a bit underwheelmed by the lack of struggle in the battles, even Superman had a tougher time winning... And for Christ sakes.... He's Superman.
There's a bunch of little things I could go into, but I really don't want to be a nitpicker, like I'm being made to feel.

I loved it.

My two biggest problems:
1. Alot of bad lines, especially from Ghost Rider.
2. Not dark and scary enough. Too light.

For me, the movie did EXACTLY what it set out to do, entertain. Was it on par with Batman Begins or Spider-Man? Absolutly not, but i truly enjoyed the movie.
I thought Nic Cage was great and the Ghost Rider effects were AMAZING. I thought Wes Bentley's performance was hit and miss but overall i thought the movie was damn cool. One thing that im deff sure about, Ghost Rider is visually the most KICK ASS character that has ever shown up on the big screen!!!!

Bubonic, Bentley was one of the only things I had a problem with in the film and made me subtract a couple of points. I don't know if that's the way MSJ envisioned the character of if Bentley thought he was bringing "something to the table" so to speak... could have been way better of a villain if he just said his lines subtly like Peter Fonda.

Subtle is always more chilling than screaming and mocking-tone voice. He did a good job in the bar, but then went a whole opposite dirrection in the apartment and final fight- "I am Leeegion, weeeeee aaaarrrreeee maaannnnyyy" stands out. That line may have been alot better if it was just kept subtle.

As I said, I loved Peter Fonda's take on the devil and sometimes the subtleness of the guy gave me chills.

The ONLY thing I thought wasn't necessary was the YEE HAW bit.
I actually giggled when Johnny was in the swamp going into the ghost town with the Bike running. Not very easy sneaking up on anyone with a loud bike.lol

I didnt really mind the "yee haw" bit. It might not really have been needed, but i didnt really mind it. That entire scene of him with the helicopter was bad ass.

It had a couple of cheesy moments, but overall I enjoyed it (heck, some folks at my theater were clapping when it finished).

I thought the story was good, the acting was great, and the special effects were awesome!

For me the movie was actually...almost perfect...It went out there full force and unashamed and that's what I liked about it. Ghost Rider was just badass in every way possible. Both the movie and the character. It was a fun ride...I don't get why people see cheesiness as a bad thing honestly. I get a kick out of it. Maybe that's what makes me biased to these flicks. The only marvel movies I've hated so far were Elektra and Man-Thing and that's because they flat out bored me.

Anyway, I usually take movies like FF and DD over Spidey any day. They're the kind of movies where when you're flipping the channel and it's halfway through, you stick around to watch it anyway. A movie like Spider-man I have to watch from the beginning or make time to watch it to find any enjoyment. FF and DD are the movies you leave on while you're doing whatever and you end up mouthing the lines along with the characters. I'm very glad to have GR as one of those now.

...Not Elektra though. Every time I put that on, I completely forget about it and end up doing work or something...I'll get it when it's $10 just to add it to my Marvel collection...Man-Thing would have to be like $5.

I really liked it I gave it an 8/10.

but I am wondering about some stuff.

Like caretaker didn't give Mephisto the contract meaning the Ghost Rider's don't have to listen to him.
You could just sell your soul, become GR, and do whatever you want.
I mean you sold your soul to the devil so your going to hell anyway might as well do what you want.
Then caretaker lived for like 100 something years so I guess the power makes you live extra long.
So really I'm wondering if Mephisto offers your soul back as long as you become his rider and do something for him.
It would explain why Caretaker lived so long, I mean he never did the task he was given so he never got his soul back and never got his powers taken.

I'm also wondering if the GR is just the devil's bounty hunter because
caretaker was sent to collect those souls for the contract meaning he basically walked up to people and told them give the devil your soul and I'll he'll give you this and that.

Not to mention at the end of the movie Johnny says he's gonna use the powers against him but if he's just a bounty hunter really all he can do is return escapee demons which is what Mephisto wants.
So really I think the Ghost Rider is a bounty hunter/assitant for the devil.

this is just how I would explain the stuff they really don't talk about in the movie but I'm not sure I'm right about any of it
so what do you guys think?

You are right about the "do my bidding, get your soul back" notions...

Ghost Rider did what Memphisto wanted- got Blackheart and the hidden- thus, Memphisto offered Johnny back his soul.
