How did you determine your personal favorite superhero, and who is it?

I didn't really determine it. I just found myself really, really enjoying Thor's comics, concepts, and themes more than any other character's and figured, "I guess Thor is pretty much my favorite character at this point."

Before Thor, it was Spider-Man. That was mostly due to my dad's liking Spider-Man so much. (I also had a soft spot for Green Lantern because of my dad. Thankfully, Johns showed me what a truly terrible character Hal is and I overcame that.)

For me it the storylines and Spidey's personality that made him my favorite. When I first started reading comics I stayed away from the mainstays like Spidey, Cap, The Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. I was never the type to just like the same stuff that everyone else likes. My first favorite was the She-Hulk because, let's face it, I was a horny teen aged fanboy at the time and she was a green skinned Gamma Goddess. While getting anything I could with her picture on it, that naturally led me to get books from the aforementioned characters and from them I found out why everyone else read their books. I still love the big green girl, she just isn't my favorite anymore. Another thing I like about Spidey is that even with his many different costumes over the years, he's still basically the same character. No drastic increase in power levels, no ridiculous regeneration/healing factor. He still has problems with his personal life that aren't necessarily tied to being Spidey. I thinks I like him the most because of all the heros, he's the one I'd like to be friends with the most. :venom:

Wolverine. Dunno why, really. First saw him in the X-Men arcade game an' thought he was damn cool. Went from there.

I determined it because Kyle Rayner is a ****ing awesome character.

Peter Parker's humor and "never say die" attitude did it for ME. :spidey:

I love wings, so Angel became my Favorite....plus I like an ass....So Quicksilver and Guy Gardner rose to the top.....the New Ant Man is almost too much of an ass....I love the book, but I don't care for Ant-man

I determined it when I read the Marvel Encyclopedia and saw Black Panther. I read about him, I thought he sounded so cool and looked cool too. I then read the actual comic and I thought it was ok. I read Gravity and he was cool because I could related to the teenage hero type.

Haha, I was thinking you said you liked 'ass' and I was thinking; Yeah Quicksilver does have quite a good butt. :ninja:

Well I do like ass....but in that case it's Black Cat and Warbird

I bring this up half out of curiosity, half out of never being able to find a favorite character for myself. I do wish I had a favorite though.... odd situation.

There's no one character that you find yourself more excited to read about than others?

In an odd way, no... the only one I can really think of is Chase from Runaways, but lately that's been odd... I'll see how #24 goes. Other than him, I like Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Ultimate Spider-man, Ultimate Iron Man, Hawkeye.....

Think about which one of those you like the most and you'll have your favorite. I think it's very rare for someone to actually like two characters exactly the same.

Daredevil became my favorite Marvel character after reading the Yellow TPB. I remember reading it the first time and just being blown away. I loved the fact that he was so human and yet so much more at the same time. I also loved the way he is so unapologetic about whooping badguys asses.

Batman's my favorite because, well, he was the first I had ever seen. The first that ever got me interested in superheroes and comics to begin with. As time goes on, I don't think I quite like the character's personality as much as some others (or, at least, his Frank Miller personality:o), but I still love the mythos, I still love the supporting cast and villain, and I still love what the character's all about.

Another character that has sorta become my favorite as a, well, analytical adult however would be Ultimate Captain America. With Ultimate Cap, I just love how he's such a parody of the All-American man. How he can do these extremely pompous and crazy things and get away with it. Yet, at the same time, he means well, and does accomplish good despite his abrasiveness.

Mine were initially determined by what I saw on TV as a child. DC had it on lock-down at the time with Batman & Robin (Adam West) and Wonder Woman (Lynda Carter). The former had me tying blankets around my neck and jumping off couches like an freakin idiot.

Then came along Chris Reeve's "Superman" and Lee Major's "The Seven Million Dollar Man". These characters had me blowing on things thinking I could freeze them and sticking my fingers in light sockets to see if I could run faster (true stories all). I wasn't allowed to watch "The Incredible Hulk".

Then I grew up and discovered the world of Marvel. The X-Men, The Fantastic Four, Power Pack...these teams seemed more *real* than the passe "Super Friends" cartoon. I was totally caught up in "Secret Wars"...had never read anything like it. And having a black mother and white father I was searching to "identify" with some of these heroes so characters like Storm, Bishop, Black Panther and Luke Cage helped me find a balance I couldn't find in DC's comics. Since my family was mixed culturally, it was great seeing heroes of every color and background fighting side-by-side.

And now I'm here with you guys...31 years old and still believing.

spider-man.

it's everything about him. he's the underdog, he lives in new york and struggles to get by, his boss sucks, he's a genuinely decent guy, his rogues gallery is one of the best and his costume might by the best costume ever (both the classic and the black outfit).

All throughout my childhood it was Spidey. I dunno, just the prevalence of Spidey marketing over every other character, probably. You didn't see many Silver Surfer coloring books, you know? Really as a kid I expressed interest in Spidey, Batman, and the X-Men, due to the cartoons. But as I grew up and started appreciating comics themselves, it became clear to me that Spidey just did not have as many quality stories as some other heroes. First I latched onto Batman, because I've always liked him due to the cartoons, and it was apparent that he had a lot of good stories. Then I read Miller's DD stuff, and then yoda and CTOAN and Lackey got me into Bendis' DD...so I can firmly say that my favorite character is Daredevil. Still, it's hard to get over old crushes. I still love you Spidey Man:csad:

in the past five years or so, daredevil's been the best written (and perhaps best drawn) superhero in comics. there's really no disputing that.

however, like you, spidey will always have a special place in this fanboy's heart...

Doesn't help Thor's dead sexy.

*Takes three or four steps back.*

As for me, I guess if I had overbearing favourites, it would be genius type characters such as Reed, Iron Man, and (despite not being a genius type in the traditional sense) Doctor Strange. Galactus has always been a personal favourite as well. And the Sentry has quickly risen through the ranks as well.

Batman just always stuck out to me. While everybody else seemed pretty much unstoppable, this guy was (what I thought at the time) your average joe in a costume. What drew me to the character as a kid was that he was...I dunno how to say it. Attainable. Relatable. It felt like something I could do myself and I thought that was cool. That if you just try hard enough and have enough brains you really CAN be this guy. We don't all have the luxury of being born under a red sun (even though Superman is my second favorite superhero because of the sheer spectacle of the character and his powers. Thor has been growing on me for the same reasons.).

Since then I've been drawn to the more down to earth, not so flashy heroes, such as Wolverine, The Punisher, Daredevil, Captain America, Black Panther and Iron Fist...I have a soft spot for street fighters. What can I say? Comics are the reason I even got into the martial arts.

I must've missed where Cap, Daredevil, and the Punisher stopped being street level heros.

Didn't say they were...Here, I'll add an extra comma.
