A casual Saturday leads to a chance meeting of Josh Marshall, an NBC 25 Flint, MI reporter, on
Twitter. Josh, who is excited about the Superman Batman movie filming in his area, was on his way to interview Ted, a gentleman in Metamora Township who has been keeping a keen super-powered eye on local production happenings and doing some Batman-esque super sleuthing for months. The Girl Scout Campground in Metamora Township has been reported for a while as the
first known Michigan production outdoor location for
Batman vs Superman, the follow up movie to Zack Snyder’s
Man of Steel.
With the announcement the Michigan Film Office made that filming would be taking place in their state for the
Man of Steel sequel, came the usual curiosity- and by usual we mean laser-focused intensity (which is usual in fandom.)
The production company, Crown City Pictures, sent out notices to residents late October, 2013, in the vicinity of the Girl Scout Campground located in Metamora Township. The notice says the will be filming for an undisclosed filming project which, at the time, said filming would end in Spring, 2014. The notice explains the increase in traffic to the area.
We have recently begun temporary work on a project at the camp, which will be complete in Spring, 2014.
We have been working with both Metamora Township and The Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan on this project and have entered into a short term lease with the Girl Scouts. The property will be returned to its original state upon completion of our activities. Dave Krieger, Crown City Pictures
The notice comes a few months in advance of
Warner Bros announcing a delay in production start up to the 2nd quarter, Spring of 2014, from its original anticipated start in February. Recently,
Director Zack Snyder stated production would start in a month or so. The address of the notice is from production offices located at Michigan Motion Picture Studios (MMPS,) the location of
indoor studio filming for the unofficially titled Superman Batman movie.
The area has being guarded by security since October, 2013, timed in conjunction with the announcement to residents and the public of this first known outdoor location.

A second image shows a lot which has been locally rumored to be a specific filming location for the campground. In the image, a reader can see the word “Sage” in black. Sage and Milo is the movie’s code name.

"Here it is, right across the street from us they are filming the movie," said Rickabus.
"I couldn't believe it but at 5:30 in the morning that whole area was lit up like daylight," said Rickabus.
A source with Crown City Production confirms filming is not complete at the site, but movie-goers like Rickabus are going to have to wait for more details.
The Girl Scout campground in Metamora Township hasn’t had any goings-ons since 2006. Ted said at one point at 5:30AM it was lit up light a Christmas tree at the filming location, where reportedly a house was being built. Activity has died down since that time, but a source with the production company has confirmed to NBC 25 that filming is not yet complete at the location.
