Fox Journalist Fired Over Wolverine Review

Putting this silly Dark Knight/Wolverine debate aside,

what was Friedman thinking? What did he think was going to happen? I'm not going to be all sanctimonious about downloading, but why would Friedman broadcast that he watched the workprint?

And then he gloated that he was going to watch other studios' movies online too - because it was so much easier than going out in the rain.

It was so mind-blowingly stupid, there are really no words for it.

What he should have done was get Fox to show him a completed version of the film and just rave about how much better it was than the leaked version. Of course it would have been damage-control BS, but at least it would have been legal.

What a moron.

No, I think he just should have stayed quiet and not mentioned anything about watching the workprint at all. Unless he wanted to get fired.

He got what was coming to him. Too bad, he was a top shill at Fox.

Wow.

The above applies to: the topic of the thread, the responses about how bad downloading stuff is (even though we all do it), and the Dark Knight poking it's nose where it doesn't belong (again).

pyromaniac, I don't think I ever recall saying I'd never see Watchmen...

I think the closest I came was saying I probably won't see it -again-, due to the fact that it's really heavy, and the violence is very brutal, it's not the type of movie that I'd just pop in and watch.

Friedman was pretty stupid and I can't say that he didn't have it coming to him. It's one thing to put down your own company but then to say that you are illegally obtaining the property of others is flat out ******ed.

I loved Taken and Marley & Me. :(

and maybe it means very little, but FOX Searchlight has helped bring us some heavy hitters recently (The Wrestler/Slumdog Millionaire). I'm looking forward to 500 Days of Summer.

Rumblings over with the news media is that FOX and Rothman are aware of their rut among their 20th Century releases and they care as much about that as we do and they ARE trying to fix it now (i.e., additional Wolverine reshoots, restarting Fantastic Four..etc).

As long as Fox stick to ONLY distributing the Narnia films from now that's all that matters to me. And I do think Fox should really be distributing the Marvel properties from now on the same for Sony. But they don't want to lose money so we know that'll never happen. And it bloody sucks that it also has to happen in the cartoon mediums as well. I think that's pathetic if you ask me SSM never getting to use the likes of the F4, Daredevil, Kingpin, Ben Urich and Owl for example. F'n studios and their silly rights. :(

I thought I heard that the ticket sales on the last Narnia film were so weak that they were not going to make another. Is that not true?

Disney won't bring a new one out but walden media has replaced them with Fox

That's nice to know. I was hoping to see more. I didn't think they were all that bad even though the reviewers thought so.

This guy is a complete f--knig idiot. Honestly, I don't know how much this f--kface makes at Fox, but to openly admit to stealing a FOX MOVIE, then REVIEW it online WHEN YOU WORK FOR FOX and then talk about how you've stolen other movies, is the most stupid thing I've ever heard. People are broke right now, the economy is plunging, and this dumbass does something like this and loses his job. I loved seeing he got canned, he deserved it. It's like this cheesedick was trying to get fired.

He was probably thinking in his mind that since everyone else seemed to be doing it, it was okay for him to do it as well. I know a heck of lot more people that have seen the leaked film that haven't. :(
