Sci-Fi Francis Ford Coppola's MEGALOPOLIS

in other words, Lionsgate is filing for bankruptcy this year.
I think this was funded by Coppola, so Lionsgate has essentially distribution costs and marketing. That's it. So it ain't all that bad for them

Frankly I am shocked is tracking that high

So they deleted the fake movie review quotes but kept the narrator praising Coppola in the trailer.

If he had a sense of humour, after all this debacle, in the "one filmmaker has always been ahead of his time" part he would add "Steven Spielberg. But from Francis Ford Coppola comes..." :o

Jesus Christ. He’s making Richard Kelly look more and more sane by the minute in comparison. As convoluted and messy as Southland Tales was, at least Kelly wasn’t pulling **** like THIS! He had an aborted ARG and convoluted, contradictory prequel comics but that was it. It wasn’t ****ing INTERACTIVE VOICE TECH!

And the worst part? This isn't the first time Frankie's tried this. His last movie Twixt, a disastrous mess in its own right, was originally shown as a roadshow experience where he'd do various edits of the movie at each stop to try and see what scenes worked or not. And it backfired spectacularly. Amazon probably caught wind of that and pulled the plug on the "Siri in movies" bs or whatever this was, using the cost-cutting bit as a cover.

I saw the latest trailer on Dolby today, and it did look really nice. I love the scope of it, the audacity of the filmmaking, even if the special effects aren't quite what one would expect from a budget like that. It'll be an interesting watch.

I got lucky! There's an early screening on the 26th, and my theater is running discounted prices for all movies that day, so I get to see it for 5 euros :atp: There's no better scenario, now I won't even feel like I'm losing much money if it's atrocious. Let's go, Megaflopolis!

Can we just not re-watch things? There is such a thing as just not seeing the movie.

Actually can we watch whatever movie we want without having to justify ourselves or feel sorry about it? I may go see it too at some point if the stars align. I know you've been advocating against it since pretty much day one, as do others in here and elsewhere, and that's totally fine, I get the reasoning behind it. But some of us are at least curious for a high concept sci-fi that's been in the making for 40 years by a once legendary filmmaker, even if he's nowhere near that level for quite some time now and the quality of the film is questionable. I know I am.

For those who do watch it, can you let us know how obvious it was that Shia was supposed to be the lead?

He was? Then I'll give Frankie this: he saw reason and agreed with the rest of Hollywood that nobody wants to see Shia as a leading man anymore, given how much his *****ebaggery has destroyed his career.
