FRANK MILLER: THE SPIRIT STORYBOARDS

Written and art by Frank Miller.

Filled cover to cover with never-before-seen artwork by the biggest name in contemporary comics, Frank Miller: The Spirit Storyboards takes you inside the creative process behind this winter's comic-book blockbuster!

Presenting all of Miller's hand-drawn storyboard artwork for The Spirit -- almost seven hundred individual pieces of art in total -- alongside his screenplay for the film, this volume is the most exhaustive exploration ever published of this comic-book legend's creative process. Witness the evolution from idea to page to screen as this exhaustive chronicle gives you a front-row view of a master at work.

360 pages, $49.95, in stores on May 6

Sounds like a nice collection. 50 bucks is kind of steep, but it still sounds great.

Here's some positivity from this Eisner 'purist'...

I'm actually digging this book. I said it in another thread, but the BEST part of Miller's 'interpretation' of the Spirit is actually his insanely good storyboards. I would be all over a Millerized Spirit if he had done a graphic novel or a mini series. It wouldn't have seemed so mainstream introductory of Eisner's ideas... which is my main resentment of the film. It's a huge opportunity for general audiences to get to know the work of Will Eisner, and instead, they're getting 15-20% Eisner and tons and tons of Miller.

Miller's storyboards are awesome. They showed some of them during one of the bts clips and I wish they had spent more time showcasing the art than letting the production team prattle on about whatever.

As proof that I'm not completely anti-Miller just for the sake of being anti-Miller... I'm not supporting the film, financially at all, but I'll get this book because the art is so darn good.

Yes, his storyboards look fantastic from what I've seen. But just by looking at the cover, god damn it, Miller. Denny looks just like Marv wearing a fedora.
