soooo aparently i heard it's 2morrow.... anything worth getting?

I already got my Atomic Robo comic for FCBD. The dudes at my shop made not one, but two exceptions: they agreed to give me the free comic I asked for, rather than making it first-come, first-serve, and they actually gave it to me with my regular comics on Wednesday so I wouldn't miss it if I showed up later in the day on Saturday. It was cool. I haven't read the comic yet, though.

I'm also looking to get the Hellboy, Maintenance, and Arcana Studios Presents free comics.

anything marvel worth getting?

I picked up:

- Imaginary (Radical comics)
-Tiny Titans (DC Comics)
-FCBD X-Men (Marvel)
-Graphic Classics (Independant)
-All-Star Superman #1 FCBD edition (DC Comics)
-The Death-Defying Devil (Dynamite Comics)
-Worlds of Aspen #2 (Aspen Comics)
-Worlds of Aspen #3 (Aspen Comics)
-Shonen Jump Special (viz)
-The Moth (Rude Dude Productions)
-Broken Trinity Prelude (Top Cow)

I wanted to get Stranded and Maximum Ride but I totally blanked it out of my mind. Here's a general catalogue:

Pick everything up. Thats the point. Its Free Comic Book Day son. You sample the stuff you pick up.

Yeah I pick everything up, I really don't give a **** on what I get.

Today is a perfect day, going to my local comic shop, having lunch, and seeing Iron Man. The funny thing is, last year I did the same thing with Spider-Man 3!

My shop limits us to 5 titles. That's right. 5.

Anyway, I picked up...
-All-Star Superman #1 (believe it or not, I've never read this title. I'm not a fan of Quitely)
-Bongo Comic
-Transformers Animated (I'd ask for my money back if I had paid for this)
-Tiny Titans
-X-Men (good god, I think I actually like Pixie, now)

They also had a 25% off sale on all trades. I picked up The Boys vol. 2 and Watchmen (I've read it before, but never actually owned it).

I got the Hellboy issue, The Atomic Robo (which now has me hooked on the book!) and the X-men issue, How was The Moth? I really wanted to pick that up! But alas my comics store only allows tres books amigos!

I got Hellboy,X-men and Sonic{Probably the only guy here}

That's because they still have to pay to get them into the stores, and they want to ensure that everybody has a chance to get free comic books, as opposed to the first 100 regular nerdlings that will gobble everything up within an hour... and take away free stuff to potential new customers.

:yay:

I should also say that after I picked up my books, a family of 3 (two parents and their son) came in and got 5 comics each. Bastards.

Now see I find that funny that a whole family is into comics... They have to have the best arguements ever...
Dad: "GET DOWN HERE JIMMY"
Jimmy:"yeah Dad?"
Dad:"What's this I found in your bag? Is this a DC comic? Son you know we only read Marvel!"
Jimmy:"But Dad all the kids at school are reading them"
Dad: "I don't care if all the kids at school try to look like Rob Liefield's captain america... YOUR NOT TO READ THESE DC COMICS!"
Jimmy:"You never let me do anything! I hate you!"

It's a good thing the guys at my shop gave me my copy earlier. I went to lunch at 12:30 and then went to see Iron Man with some friends at 2:30, and by the time I actually got to my shop at 5, they'd been out of this year's official FCBD comics for hours and hours. They said they got slammed much harder than they expected. So, instead, they threw out a bunch of old back-issues, which I picked up 3 of, and they had sales on other stuff.

Luckily, another shop in town had less traffic, so they still had a lot of FCBD issues to give out. I picked up Hellboy, the Del Ray sampler, How to Draw from Wizard, X-Men, All-Star Superman, and a few more from that place. The only other one I really wanted that I didn't get was Maintenance, but I'm not too broken up about it.

The store's limit was eight things. I got:

FCBD X-Men
FCBD Hellboy
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
All-Star Superman #1
2008 Bongo Comics Free-For-All
FCBD Marvel Adventures
Sensational Spider-Man #38 (my store had some regular issues they were giving away)
an Iron Man Heroclix figure

I basically got one of everything. My shop doesn't have limits. Plus they had a 20% everything in stock sale going on so I pick up a bunch of trades and back issues.

My shop has a 2 per customer limit. I got Hellboy and the EC sampler, along with the Iron Man heroclix.

They also have a 50% off all single issues and 25% off all sets and trades sale, so I picked up the Arkham Asylum trade, finally.

My shop had 50% off back-issues and 15% off trades, so I picked up a few of those. I don't know what I was thinking, though, 'cause I put them in my file to get them later without realizing that it was probably just a one-day sale. Oh well, I'll see if the dudes at my shop can overlook my stupidity and give me the FCBD discounts this Wednesday.

Hellboy: The Mist

The Moth

CartoonaPalooza

Atomic Robo

Apparently midtown is just gonna send me a bundle of free stuff with my subscriptions....do I don't know what i'm getting.

I almost had a crappy Free Comic Day. Last year, my LCS let us have 1 of every comic they got in; but, this year, they advertised in the paper and promotion was a lot bigger on television. When I walked in, the employee said we could only have one issue. Ugggg. Of course, I picked up the X-Men one, and was peeved I couldn't get the other Marvel Adventures issue. (Heck, I purposefully didn't bring my son, because of the year previous.)

I had to go into Tacoma anyway, so I ended up going to a LCS there with my son and mom. We got there, and it was freakin' packed! Cool part, they let every customer have 5 free comics; so, I got one of each comic with my son and mom picking some up, too. Then, I picked up my daughter from my ex-wife, and had called her before I left the house and let her know about me getting stiffed by my store. Her boyfriend is into comics, so she got me one of every free comic at his shop, with about 4 that I weren't available at the Tacoma store! I ended up getting about 15 of the free comics in the end.

What surprised me was last year, the two best free comics were from Image. Why didn't they give out anything this year??!!??

Who knows? The best FCBD issue I've read so far for this year is easily the Hellboy/BPRD one. 3 vignettes that are all made of win.

The Hellboy book was worth the price (HAHAHA!!!! I'm so funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) just for the "Futurama characters as Hellboy characters" pic.
