Free-flowing water on Mars? APOD

The Astronomy Picture of the Day has photographic evidence of recent water flow on the planet Mars. This could raise all sorts of new possibilities about life existing near underground Martian springs, as well as opening up new sites for human colonies!

I sure as hell think it's cool. Anyone else have any thoughts?

They found fossilized bacteria from like a million years ago, but they've never found anything actually alive on Mars.
