Are there any free MMORPG players here and if so which ones do you play? Are any as popular and visually stunning as WOW or others?

I spent some time playing Runescape for a few months.

I want that time back.

I suspect there's a reason most games like that are free. (i.e., they suck) I would be leery of buying one unless I heard a lot of good press.

Guild Wars has no monthly fees after the initial purchase.

Oh man. Freelancer. That was THE game for me back in the day. <3

You can download and play Anarchy Online for free. You only have to pay if you upgrade to the later expansion packs. It's one of the oldest MMORPGs, but it still looks good, and the population seems to be fairly healthy.

Have you tried Dungeon Runners? It's a free MMORPG made by the same company that put out Guild Wars.

Dead Frontier seems to be pretty good so far. I've just started getting into it. But so far, it's a pretty sweet free mmorpg.

I did Runescape once... and Guild wars (although for this you have to purchase the account or something)
Both are hugely popular compared to other mmos... and are still active till today

Atlantica Online, Allods Online, and Combat Arms are pretty much owning my life.

There's also an online Pirates of the Caribbean game which is free to download and play. I know champions online will be free come next year, too.

Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online are offering free Turbine points for signing up. Both of these are free to play MMO's.

Dungeons and Dragons Online is not only the best free MMO out there...but I also believe it to be the best pay MMO out there. A detailed stat system, great graphics, no grind and fantastic questing. Plus the combat is really involved. You actually have to dodge and block yourself...it's only partially based on stats unlike other mmo's.

I'm extremely tempted to download LotR Online... I've been an extreme fantasy RPG/Tolkien mood lately...

So... I dunno.

DDO has all their store bought adventure packs on for half off today.

Combining the 250 point promotion account with running the first four lowbie quests on all seven servers you can get 600 store points in about an hour and a half. That would let you pick up two or more of the adventure packs for free. :yay:

I just converted to LOTRO. It's not exactly revolutionary, but it's a really solid game with a great feel. Got my mount from the store, and questing away.

LOTRO's revenue tripled once they moved from pay to free to play.
