2 hour premiere of a mermaid on tonight at 8 pm eastern time

Started watching tonight and I really like it. Really interested to see this show build it's mythology.

It would appear I'm a little behind with this; saw an advert for the show on Instagram, and being into mythology (etc) I thought I'd check this out - and I'm quite liking it so far. I'm only four episodes in, and I think only five have aired thus far - so I'll watch the fifth episode tonight with any luck.

I'm calling it now too, but Helen (the shop owner) is blatantly a Siren herself; she seemed to know as soon as she met Ryn that she wasn't Human - not something anyone else would know just by looking at someone.

I don't quite understand why she'd decide to stay on land though, however I am wondering whether they (Sirens) live a longer life, and whether Helen is in fact one of the Sirens involved with the Pownall Family back when they were massacring Sirens.

I also started watching this show. I'm up to ep03.
So far it's ok.

So they come back because somehow the entire ocean is running out of food?

Not the entire ocean, just the area they live in I think. [blackout] The military/gov lifted all the fishing quota, the fishermen can catch as much as they want so the Sirens must come out of hiding to eat and be captured by the military for experimentation.[/blackout]

Yeah if they live in a specific area but we know that they can move pretty fast so why not just move a bit out to go eating? Maybe it's something that we'll find out more of as we go along. If they discuss Sirens having pods in specific regions and all of that i'd be fine with.

Wonder how long until we meet a male siren.

I guess that maybe these Sirens only live in the seas around the town and even if it's a big chunk of the ocean they can't just move out for the fishing ships also cover a huge area.
Edit : it's an endemic species.
As for male Sirens, I have the feelings there is none.

Well looks like there are male Sirens afterall. Though how the hell are they able to stand and talk when they are still in fin mode???

Wrong intuition about the male.
I also find it odd that he could stand on his tail but I guess it's just a little discrepancy.

I just imagined them moving like a Naga when on land with fins.

They really went full throttle with the finale....something I'm not usually a fan of shows doing so early in their runs but it was all good by the end.

Yeah this season's finale felt a little rushed IMO, but it was a really interesting episode and a great set up for Season 3. I enjoyed this season quite a bit overall too.

It was? I thought the episode was a mess; half of it wasn't even real.

I thought the series had been cancelled. Updates have seemed quiet, but that trailer; season 3 has potential.

Yeah I have no idea how this show has made it as far as it has since I haven't heard a single other person ever mention it, but I'm really looking forward to Season 3.

It definitely looks promising at least based on that trailer.

The finale was great, the fact that we got a full on Mermaid war is astounding. Really hoping that we get a 4th season and some additional spin offs (via comics).

This season was pretty awesome. I mean the Mermaid War, Ryn's relationship with her daughter, the interesting bits of character development for Ben and Xander and of course the new big bad Tia who was a really interesting villain IMO and I just wish we got to see more of her. Her recruiting the other Mermaid tribes was cool, but they didn't do as much with it as I thought they would which was kind of a missed opportunity because it could have made for some solid conflict drama and upped the stakes even more. All and all I also hope we get a 4th Season, but sadly it does feel like its starting to come to an end and I do want this show to go out on a strong note.

I do think they could've set up Tia as a 2 season big bad,...this season have her grow her forces and be a bit more bts while Season 4 is where she starts executing everything and end the season with the big war.
