From another career into acting....

Hello all,

Just a debate on who people think has done most well in 'transferring' into acting from another career or disipline previosuly, i.e. a sports or non trained acting background, for example Dwayne Johnson or Arnie.

Well, Kris Kristofferson was a singer and has had a decent acting career. He's not a bad actor. He was fun as the head bad guy in Payback, for instance.

Jason Lee, so far removed from skateboarding, it's almost like it never happen.

Will Smith and The Rock.

Justin Timberlake has transitioned well.

Harrison Ford was a carpenter.

Danny Trejo was a professional badass before beginning an acting career playing a professional badass.

I'm assuming that Harrison Ford doesn't count? I mean...every actor aside from Gwyneth Paltrow likely had jobs before they became famous actors. If we include any job, then whoever is the most successful actor on earth wins the discussion, because Tom Cruise, George Clooney etc all had jobs before they gained the ability to support themselves through acting.

One of the more recent ones I'm kind of following is Analeigh Tipton. She started out as a competitive figure skater before a short stint at modelling (she was in cycle 11 of Americas Next Top Model) and finally into acting. She actually has a pretty good career going now.

There's a lot of them.

The most successful I would say is Will Smith or Mark Wahlberg. Both have numerous hits under the belts, Oscar nods, and are also decent to good producers (more so in Wahberg's case)
