The El Rey Network announced Sunday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that its first original scripted drama, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, will premiere on Tuesday, March 11 at 9/8c.

Network founder and filmmaker Robert Rodriguez will direct the first, second and fourth of Season 1′s 10 total episodes, while Emmy winner Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead) will oversee make-up effects. Nikita executive producer Carlos Coto will serve as showrunner.

Described by Rodriguez as “a complete retelling of the original story” featured in his and Quentin Tarantino’s 1996 movie of the same name, the series’ cast includes D.J. Cotrona (Detroit 1-8-7) and Zane Holtz (Make It or Break It) as brothers Seth and “Richie” Gecko, Robert Patrick (The X-Files) as former pastor Jacob Fuller, Wilmer Valderrama (That ’70s Show) and Don Johnson (Nash Bridges) as Texas Rangers, Eiza González (Lola: Érase Una Vez) as Santánico Pandemonium, Jesse Garcia (Sons of Anarchy), Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights), Jake Busey (Good Vibes) and Lane Garrison (Prison Break).

In success, the plan is for each season to take place — wait for it — from dusk till dawn of one day.

I guess he wants to stop Machete Kills isn't TV level bad? :b

Why is Don Johnson Earl McGraw and not Michael Parks? Michael Parks is Earl McGraw, the character transcends film continuities.

He was probably smart enough to pass on it.

I actually like the film series but from that trailer I already get the feeling that it won't be getting a season 2

lol Robert Patrick starred in one of their horrible sequels.

DJ Catrona stepping into the George Clooney role? Yeah... no thank you.

His"stay cool"line was beyond cringe worthy,Clooney did it with style and actually looked badass

And to think, that guy almost played Superman. Dodged a bullet there.

I thought it was a decent teaser. I really don't get some of the negative comments. I actually think Cotrona's "cool" delivery was quite solid!

It's a series I want to like but I just can't find the interest in right now.

Saw the Trailer and...... Meh I might catch out the 1st episode but it doesn't look very good

New, longer trailer has been released. Looks considerably more promising than the last one.

Has anyone seen it? Is it decent?

It was boring. I don't know how else to describe that episode. They fleshed out (more like fillered out) the opening sequence of the movie from maybe 5 minutes to 50. Some of it was good, it was useful, but a lot of it was pointless waste of time filling so they could stretch this into an entire season.

If the concept is that each season lasts from dusk until dawn, then they failed already since the entire first episode did not occur anywhere near dusk, unless the sun sets very early in the afternoon near the Mexican border?

Maybe the next episode will be better. I'm not sure it can be more boring.

There's nothing boring about this series if you liked the original film. I'm really enjoying it. I thought it was going to be a stretch trying to turn the film into an ongoing series, but they're doing a great job. The acting, the writing, the directing, etc. are all on point. If you're a horror fan, a just a fan of Rodriquez and Tarantino, I think this is certainly worth checking out. I'm hooked!

I actually like this series, it's a slow build up but there are enough mysteries for me to keep me glued to the show.

It has gotten less boring since the first episode. The most recent one I still haven't finished watching yet but it is picking up speed. It looks like they won't actually arrive at their destination until the finale though.

Sooo. Since it got picked up for season 2, do you think any of the cast will carry over?

I think the entire cast will since at the pace they are going no one will even be at the bar until season 3.

I predict that all the events of the original film will be covered by the end of the season, with some revisions. I'm going to assume that Richie will turn into a vampire but not get killed and that Robert Patrick will also survive. The most import question that I want answered is whether or not Cheech will play the doorman/promoter again.
