"From The Pages Of..." Comics Universe RPG: Season I Signup/OOC Thread

I'd like Angela to be controlling the company behind the scenes, not as it's chief boss, but as still one of the illuminati.

she should have her own set of agents that report to her.....

I see her as the puppet master of the company. Does she control things? Not at face value. ;)

We all know The Octopus runs the Company.

Anyone involved in the last Heroes RPG will understand this. :cwink:

Screen Name: Syn (Mercenary)
Character you'd like to portray: Molly Walker, Shanti
Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: Clairvoyance, ability to locate anyone anywhere.
Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): Molly Walker appeared in the Wildstorm/DC comics Heroes.
Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it):
Molly Walker was a young girl with a special gift. One day, a psychopath, Sylar, murdered her parents and sought to kill Molly, and obtain her gift. Through luck and the help of a Policeman, Matt Parkman, Molly was saved from the madman. However, her trials were not over. Parkman's father, Maurie, invaded Molly's mind and caused her great pain, giving her horrible nightmares.

Matt Parkman was able to save Molly from his father, but Molly's mind underwent a trial that changed her in ways she had not yet realized.

Molly Walker, the young child in the present timeline currently lives between houses with Matt Parkman and Mohinder Suresh. However, another Molly Walker has mysteriously appeared. Brought to the present by an unknown force, Molly Walker from the year 2019 now walks among the heroes. She keeps her identity concealed, going by the alias "Shanti" to keep the truth behind her a secret.

Under this new identity, Shanti, Molly has become employed by the company as one of their underground agents. She does work for them, gaining cash in return for her services. Despite her bloodlust and ruthless nature, there is something darker about Molly. A hidden agenda yet to be revealed.
Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Villain.
List a few reasons why you chose this character:

1. A Mercenary used by the company? Come on.
2. It's going to bring tension to the whole cast

3. To continue what I started once before.

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: For one, this older version of Molly is darker, more aggressive, and very detached from relationships.
Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: I can bring an interesting story and good interaction between characters. In addition I can assure you the arcs will be action packed and full of suspense.
How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: As many as I need to.
Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

From The Pages Of... RPG APPLICATION

Screen Name: Eddie Brock

Character you'd like to portray: Charles "Chuck" Bartowski

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: Chuck's just a normal guy who's good with electronics. Oh, and he just so happens to be the Intersect, a human CIA/NSA supercomputer database. Y'know, typical guy stuff.

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): NBC's Chuck; also appears in a comic miniseries published by Wildstorm Comics.

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it):

Chuck was just a normal guy. He worked at the Buy More as one of the Nerd Herd, an elite group of tech support junkies. He didn't really seem to have a destination in life, but it didn't matter. The status quo was quite enjoyable. Living with his loving sister, Ellie, Chuck wandered through life with the help of his friends, especially Morgan Grimes.

However, things were not going to stay that way. One day, Chuck received an email from his rival, Bryce Larkin. He and Chuck were once good friends until Bryce framed Chuck for cheating and got him expelled from Stanford University. You can see why the relationship deteriorated. Well, upon opening this email, Chuck's brain downloaded all the information on the Intersect, a CIA/NSA supercomputer database.

Since the original Intersect was destroyed in the process, the government was forced to keep an eye on Chuck. John Casey and Sarah Walker, NSA and CIA respectively, were assigned to be Chuck's handlers. Casey became Chuck's neighbor, and Sarah's cover ID was Chuck's new girlfriend. Together, the two keep Chuck out of trouble - something he is attracting nowadays.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Hero

List a few reasons why you chose this character: Chuck is the everyman thrown into a surreal situation. He's just a geek who finds himself thrust into a world of violence, secrecy, and lies. Chuck doesn't know what being a secret agent means. He doesn't even want to know. He just wants to live a normal life, but it seems that is not his fate.

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: Not very, to be honest with you. Given the nature of the expanded universe, Chuck's database will have to expand to accommodate the new bad guys. Oh, and he'll be going on out-of-state missions more often - for the sake of interaction.

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: I'm at a point in my RPG 'career' where I really feel like my writing is improving to the level that I want it to be. Previously, reliability was my 'thing,' but now I focus on bringing these characters to life.

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: As many as Gotham needs me to make.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

I often to have to ask how I find myself in these...situations. The light turns yellow as I gun the Nerd Herder into a sharp right turn. The tires squeal helplessly as I fear that the Herder will slide out of control. However, the car tackles the turn quite effortlessly, much to my surprise. It doesn't relax me any. In fact, I'm quickly bombarded with loud horns from angered drivers.

Glancing at my rear view mirror, I see the black Escalade gaining ground on me again. My eyes widen with terror as a man holding a submachine gun leans out of the passenger window. This is what happens when you piss off the wrong people. In my defense, though, it wasn't my fault! Of course, I don't have an opportunity to say that before the Herder's back windshield is shattered by a spray of bullets.

Amidst the chaos, Thomas Dolby's "She Blinded Me with Science" begins to play. I look out of the corner of my eye at the vibrating cell phone located in the cupholder. I pause for a moment. Now is not a good time to answer a call. Still...

"Hello?" I answer anxiously.

"Chuck!" Morgan replies simply. I slide the Herder into a wide left turn, nearly clipping the traffic coming in the opposite direction.

Laughing nervously, I ask, "Hey, what's up, buddy?" I try to keep my anxiousness out of my voice.

Morgan says nothing for a moment. "Is that gunfire I hear in the background?" he finally inquires. My mouth hangs open. Before I can respond, Morgan adds, "You're playing Call of Duty, aren't you?"

"You caught me," I lie, checking my mirrors again. I still haven't lost these guys. Come to think of it, I can't even remember why they want me dead. I just remember that things got out of hand way too quickly.

My thoughts are interrupted by an explosion. I flinch and nearly lose control of the Herder. "Aha! I'd know that sound anywhere!" Morgan announces. "The RPG-7, huh?"

Sure enough, as I look in the mirror, I see a man hanging out of the sunroof, aiming an RPG right at the Herder. "...Morgan. I need to call you back."

Screen Name: Catman_prb

Character you'd like to portray: Jayne Cobb

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: No powers, although he does carry a Callahan full-bore auto lock with customized trigger double cartridge thorough gauge named Vera.

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): Serenity by Dark Horse

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it): Jayne served as a private mercenary even before the crew of the good ship Serenity were 'selected' from Earth. Though thoroughly supporting Mal's decision to overthrow the Chula that had captured them and steal their ship, he was less than enthused about the idea to stay away from Earth, and keep the Alliance and Indipendants away as well. In fact he was only persuaded by the promise of vast riches in the depths of space.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Hero...kinda

List a few reasons why you chose this character:
  • Vera
  • He's a violent and humourous character
How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: The entire origin/time/backgroud?

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: A big threatening merc who doesn't like messing around. And Vera.

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: As many as I need.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:
Jayne walked towards the exit ramp of the ship, yawning slightly in the early morning sun. He stretched his arms around behind his back, and shuddered to a halt. Zoe was standing with her hand on his chest, moving him backwards.

"Not that I'm complainin', but won't your hubby get a might upset?"

"What are those?" she said, pointing to the large balls that were hanging from his chest.

He quickly tried to cover them up, wrapping his arms around himself and turning away from his superior slightly.

"Nothin'. Don't know what you're talking about," he said idly.

"Are they grenades?"

"No," Jayne said stubbornly. Zoe gave him the eye, and he quailed.

"Yes,"

"Captain said no grenades. Ditch 'em," she said and walked off.

Muttering to himself, Jayne took the bandoleer of explosives off and dropped them to the floor of the ship. He followed Zoe out onto the planet.

"But what if we need grenades!" he shouted after her.

Screen Name: Johnny Blaze

Character you'd like to portray: Storm Shadow

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: None; Storm Shadow is a ninja master and world class assassin. He is trained in a variety of martial arts and weaponed fighting, the arts of espionage, and counter-intelligence.

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): G.I. Joe; originally published by Marvel, currently published by Devil's Due Press

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it): Thomas Arishikage grew up in the city of San Francisco, living with his father who supported him after the death of Thomas' mother. His father did his best to give Thomas a happy childhood, but it was not meant to be as his father was killed in a car accident when Thomas was just nine years old. Sent to live with his Uncle in Japan, Thomas quickly discovered his families secret heritage. For the last few hundred years, his family has been a member of the most feared ninja clan in all of Japan, The Foot.

Thomas immediately began training in the art of Ninjitsu to honor the memory of his father and family. There he met two other young men training to be Foot ninjas, Oroku Saki and the man who would one day be known as Snake-Eyes. The three formed a close bond throughout their years of training, but it quickly fell apart. Thomas began to grow jealous of Snake-Eyes and the extra attention he was receiving from his Uncle, and Oroku Saki began to show his true selfish nature.
Saki, ever the opportunist, took advantage of the situation to get rid of two rivals, stealing one of Thomas' darts and lacing it with poison. Saki had planned to use it to kill Snake-Eyes and frame Thomas for the murder, Oroku blundered when the dart accidently missed Snake-Eyes and hit Thomas' uncle instead. Despite the miscue, Saki still got the outcome he desired. Thomas was forced to flee from the Foot, being blamed for his Uncle's death. In turn, Thomas blamed Snake-Eyes for the death of his Uncle. If he had been not showing Snake-Eyes a new technique, than his Uncle would not have been in danger, he reasoned.
Snake-Eyes, unable to continue after the horrific events, left the Foot Clan soon after, leaving Saki alone to excel.

Storm Shadow wandered the world in shame and without a purpose, until he met the man called Cobra Commander. The Commander saw Thomas' skill instantly, and used his bitterness and anger to twist him. Thomas became Cobra Commander's personal assassin and bodyguard, performing missions for Cobra that seemed nigh impossibly. Now dubbed Storm Shadow, he quickly earned a reputation in the organization, becoming one of Cobra's elite figures.
But Storm Shadow has not forgotten his past, and the anger in his heart directed at his former friends, Snake-Eyes and Oroku Saki. Deep down he knows they will meet again, and, when they do, Storm Shadow will have his vengeance.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Villain

List a few reasons why you chose this character: He's my second favorite Joe character after Cobra Commander. Figured I could play around with his origin in this RPG a bit, what with the other comic universes that are mingled together (like the Turtles).

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: Instead of his family clan being it's own unique entity, I made them part of the Foot Clan of Turtles' fame. I intermingled the Shredder's origin a bit with Storm Shadow's as well as Snake-Eyes', making them bitter rivals and enemies, in place of Stalker. Instead of him hunting down a Cobra assassin that kills his Uncle, Storm Shadow is forced to flee in disgrace and meets up with Cobra by chance.

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: A great character with loads of potential. Experience in role-playing, both table-top and on the Hype.

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: As many as need be, life permitting.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

It was the first time he had been here, this concrete jungle. Although not as chaotic as Tokyo, New York was an intimidating presence none-the-less. Especially with the growing number of super-powered individuals running around. Part of him wanted to test his skills against some of these supermen, but Storm Shadow put those thoughts out of his mind.

His focus was stricktly on business. The business of vengeance.

It had been many years since his falling out with his family and the Foot. Storm Shadow was shamed and banished, but he was able to turn and focus his outrage. To twist it and use it to drive himself to perfection. And it was no surprise when Storm Shadow quickly became known as one of the world's most dangerous mercenaries in the underground. It was that reputation which brought him to his meeting with a man called Cobra Commander.

The passion in the man's words, and the money in his pocket, swayed Storm Shadow to join his organization, Cobra, as his personal bodyguard and assassin. Since that fateful day, Storm Shadow's infamy has steadly grown as he efficiently dispatched enemies of Cobra around the globe. But still the ordeals of the past haunted him. The hole in his being could not be mended until he regained his honor.

And that meant payback on the two that wronged him. Oroku Saki was a difficult man to find, but, thanks to Cobra Intelligence, Storm Shadow was able to track him down to this city. The Foot was setting up shop in the Big Apple, and Saki was the man leading the clan in it's overseas endeavors.

"You're here, Oroku", Thomas uttered under his breath to himself, as the wind whipped across the rooftop. The chilling bite of the night air seemed to have no affect on the ninja as he gazed out across the city bustling below him.

"I can smell you", he stated in disgust.

From The Pages Of... RPG APPLICATION

Screen Name: Byrd Man

Character you'd like to portray: Hoban "Wash" Washburne

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: None, but he can fly a spaceship like it's nobody's business.

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): Serenity by Dark Horse.

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it):

Raised on a polluted planet, Wash became a pilot in part to see the sky beyond his home. Wash served in the Unification War as a pilot for the Independents. On his first mission, Wash's ship was shot down and he was put in a POW camp, where he spent the remainder of the war entertaining the other prisoners with shadow puppets. Later travelling widely, Wash's pilot skills and reputation grew so that he was actively courted by multiple captains when he met Malcolm Reynolds and his first mate Zoe Alleyne. It was partly because of Zoe's beauty that he joined Mal and the crew of Serenity.

A laid-back guy with a dry and occasionally laconic sense of humor, Wash tends to represent the pragmatic, cut-and-run opinion in any shipboard debate, and often serves as the calming influence in heated arguments.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Hero

List a few reasons why you chose this character: I loved Wash's smart mouth in both the show and movie and I've always wanted to fly a spaceship, this is the closest I'll get.

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: Well, this is Wash from the beginning. He and Zoe aren't married yet. But other than that, he'll be same ole Wash.

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: Decent RPer who's been at this for two years now.

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: Much as needed.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

Paquin

I take a sip from my drink and look at the guy in front of me. He's one of those big, farm boy types. Looks like he's wholesome and all that.

"So why should I pilot your ship?"

"You ain't got to do nothing I don't want you to do. But if you join me, I'll promise you at least fifteen percent of our take on every job."

"Well, I had a captain come by and offer me twenty percent."

"Well, fifteen is all I can offer."

Just then, a beautiful woman comes up to the big goof and puts her hand on his shoulder.

"Are you done, sir?"

"This is my first mate, Zoe."

I look up at her, she smiles and nods. My face starts to heat up and my heart beats a bit faster.

"Since we need a good pilot, I tell you what. I'll go ahead with twenty-five."

"I'll do it for ten."

The captain shakes my hand, but my eyes stay on this Zoe woman.

"Well, Wash. Welcome to the crew of Serenity."

From The Pages Of... RPG APPLICATION

Screen Name: RGDurant

Character you'd like to portray: Ash Williams

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest:
Possessing no superhuman abilities, Ash relies on his toughness and ingenuity. He is adept to some degree of hand-to-hand fighting, is highly skilled with practical weapons, mainly a chainsaw or his "Boomstick", a sawed-off Remington 12 gauge shotgun, and is incredibly resilient to physical abuse.

Ash's strongest asset is his inventive skills, having created a chainsaw bracket for his severed hand, a shotgun harness, gunpowder from mainly referencing its elemental makeup in a chemistry book, a fully functional prosthetic hand from a metal gauntlet, and various other weapons and gadgets from basically scratch.

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?):
Army of Darkness as published by Dark Horse Comics, Wildstorm Comics, and Dynamite Comics, as well as The Evil Dead series by Universal Studios

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it):
Ashley J. Williams was born October 3, 1960 into a family of three along with his sister Cheryl. After typical childhood and teenage years, Ash and Cheryl were enrolled into Michigan State University where Ash majored in engineering, all the while maintaining employment at a superstore, S-Mart, working in the housewares department.

One day. Ash, Cheryl, his girlfriend Linda, and two other friends, Shelly and Scotty, venture into the mountains of Tennessee to spend the weekend in a isolated cabin, the owner of which was a professor and was often abroad.

While settling in at the cabin in the woods, they come upon a strange and macabre artifact, an ancient Sumerian text, Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, roughly translated, The Book of the Dead. Playing a tape containing translations of the book, it recited demonic incantations which in which it awoke an evil force that lay dormant in the woods. Through that night, Ash's friends, girlfriend and sister were possessed by the Deadites, and after hours of torment and attacks, Ash was the only survivor. However there was no escape for him that morning, as the evil in the woods destroyed the only bridge in or out of the mountains.

The situation went from bad to even worse at sunset, another encounter with his Deadite girlfriend left his right hand possessed, which Ash was forced to amputate with a chainsaw. The professor's daughter, his assistant, and two hicks had arrived and quickly were thrust into the madness, in which they all die horribly, but not before the daughter recites an incantation from two lost pages from the Necronomicon, sending Ash into a vortex.

The vortex sends Ash back in time to the year 1300 A.D., and he is quickly enslaved by the ruling sovereign of the time. He is pitted in a battle to the death with various Deadites and overcomes to intimidate the medieval population into helping him get back to his old time. With the help of a priest, Ash is advised to retrieve the Necronomicon from it's resting place and recite verses to open a vortex back to his time.

While he ventures for the book, Ash is continually chased and tormented by Deadites, going so far as to create his double, Evil Ash, which Good Ash easily defeats, dismembers, and buries. When he reaches the cemetary where the Necronomicon lay, Ash forgets the incantation he is to recite and botches it up, causing the Deadites to possesse the corpses buried in the cemetary and create an army of the undead, with Evil Ash as it's leader.

Ash flees with the book back to the stronghold and convinces the kingdom to defend themselves against the Army of Darkness' attempt to retrieve the Necronomicon. A ferocious battle between the dead and the living takes place, and in the end, Ash was victorious in destroying Evil Ash and his army.

He returned to his own time after reciting the words correctly, and tried to continue his life where he left it, but he could never fully escape the evil of the Deadites, as they were alway persistent to torment and kill.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?:
Hero

("Good, Bad, I'm the guy with the gun.")

List a few reasons why you chose this character:
1. He's the king, 2. We have some villains who may or may not want to get ahold of the Necronomicon, 3. Darkman might eventually need his old partner, and 4. You can never go wrong with Bruce "King of Cool" Campbell.

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?:
He's grown a little older, a little wiser, and a little bit crazyer from his numerous experiences from the Deadites and other foes.

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG:
A badass with a chin, and a chainsaw, a fistful of boomstick, and a ****load of classic one-liners.

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: Anyday really, I have alot of free time.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

Hi there, my name is Ash....

Ash Williams, dressed in his crisp S-Mart uniform vest, was walking down aisle after aisle, a pricing gun in his left hand, and in his right hand, or where his hand use to be, was a hook apparatus for his stump.

You've probauly already heard the story before, but those who've haven't, I'll give ya the lowdown. When I was a young kid, me, my sister, my girlfriend Linda, and some other friends went to a little cabin up in the woods for some R and R before finals.

click..click..click

Ash slapped new price stickers on a boxed set of lawn chairs.

While there, we stumbled on an ancient evil in the form of a book, Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, The Book of the Dead.

click..click..

Another unbeatable S-Mart bargain on a portable grill.

It was made thousands of years ago, wrapped in tortured flesh and inked with blood, this ancient Samarian text contained bizarre burial rights, funeral incantations, and demon resurrection passages. I wasn't meant for the world of the living, I found that out firsthand.

click...click...click

Ash hummed to himself as he priced down various sets of cutlery.

After playing a tape with translations from the book, it awoke something evil in those woods. As that endless night went on, we became the victims of demonic beings known as Deadites.

click..click...click

They took away my friends, my sister, my girlfriend, even my hand, which I had to lop off at the wrist.

click...click...click

And when I thought things couldn't get worse, I get tossed back in time, to the time when men carried swords and shields and wore chainmail pajamas. I had to face an entire stinking army to get back home.

click...click...click

Ash, now out of price stickers, walked off to the employees office for a fresh roll.

Besides from that trouble, I got one hand left, I'm pushing fifty and I still have the same job I had thirty years ago.

Reloaded with stickers, Ash walked back to the Housewares aisle and continued pricing and whistling.

But in my book, It's the best job in the world. I got alot to be grateful for, and I think that my troubles with the Deadites are over.

Ash paused for moment.

But that's what I always said when it starts right back up again. Well, we'll jump that bridge when we come to it.

click...click...click

Another unbeatable bargain sticks to a boxed fondue set.

And always remember, shop smart, shop S-Mart.
